  1. Rubbish, I changed my insurance this year which covers me for paramotoring, cave diving, fell running and a host of other stuff. My premium is lower and the cover is better than before. You're definitely looking for an argument Mr Troll.
  2. Hi Peter, It's just south of Heads of the Valleys, east of Merthyr Tydfil. It's not really my area as I'm based in Brecon but the conditions have been better here lately and it's a really easy place to flop out of the car and into the air from. You're also likely to bump into others here when the conditions are right, on the evening of the video there was a powered hang glider and two paramotors flying from there. A lot of ridge soaring goes on about a mile away. I didn't know about the place until recently as I have no interest in the valley areas (run down towns with bored kids, burned out cars in laybys, etc.) but it turns out to be a bit of a pilot's mecca. I've attached a map, the red area shows good launching areas. Beware of low flying police helicopters which seem to show up regularly. Cheers Steve.

    Flat Top...

I was in exactly the same position when I started my research and knowing nothing, and everywhere I turned it was Flat Top and K2, everything else is rubbish or dangerous. I was quickly enlightened by many much more experienced pilots about Dell's marketing division (YouTube).
  4. Cheers, it's truly lovely to fly in these conditions and such a contrast to the noise and physicality of launching.
  5. Dub FX is the original and best, he has released several albums recorded on the street which have done very well. [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]
  6. Cheers Pete. I had tried weakening the mixture a tiny bit but didn't want to go too far. The motor hasn't done that many hours so I'll leave it for a while and try your suggestion then (what hours do you suggest is 'well run in'?). What's the carb mod you mention?
  7. I have a Parajet Volution 1 Compact which is excellent. I've aways had great service from Parajet. However, I find the low rev roughness, from zero up to 5-6000rpm, not much fun to use and wondered whether any other Parajet owners are bothered by this or have found a way of tuning it better. Parajet have twice taken a look and said it's usual and should be like that. I notice other paramotors don't seem as rough at lower revs. I've uploaded a video to YouTube, it is mostly without a picture (too dark for the camera to pick up much) but the sound after about 1 minute 30 shows what I mean - I know most of the usable power isn't this far down the rev range (before it gets onto main jet) but it would be nice for it to be smoother and nicer to use nonetheless. I am in no way unhappy with Parajet in any way, this is just a question to other owners. Thanks.
  8. Loved that, most relaxing vid I've watched in ages. Brilliant Transformer tree!
  9. Brilliantly simple, thanks for posting it.
  10. They've come out very well, especially the first shot. I'm amazed you got a result anywhere near as good as this.
  11. Cheers Ian, I appreciate your comments. Using prussic knots in one of my other sports I know how easily they can release their grip, hence the paranoia; it's good to hear that you've had no problems. The trimmers I find are immensely stiff to adjust when flying, it's a full on two-handed effort with little finesse. Perhaps more experience would help. Thanks again.
  12. I'm a newish pilot, CP at present. I bought a Revo2 at the end of last year from research on the web as I hadn't met anyone who owned one. I have little with which to compare other than the basic paragliding wings I did my early training on. From my point of view, I enjoy flying the Revo2 but am paranoid in the extreme about the prussic knot which I check all the time. The other thing I have issue with is the trimmer adjustment which is so hard to do that I just set it for the flight and leave it alone (usually on slowish trim), it's stupidly difficult to adjust in flight, at least for me.
  13. Good summary, I couldn't take my eyes off it; best thing I've seen in ages.

  16. There's a severe lack of paramotor pilots in this neck of the woods, I need a pilot's dating agency for the central Beacons. You'd be very welcome Tom!
  17. It's wonderful, but not always easy to find a good launch site in some areas. Let me know if you're ever coming over.
  18. Francis, I read your post on the news website before I saw anything about it here. The way you presented it made me think that you were doing more harm to paramotoring than the report of the incident itself; you were making your points in the wrong place to the wrong audience and I couldn't (still can't) understand what you were trying to achieve.
  19. Tried mounting the cam on the top of the Parajet Compact cage on neoprene using the GoPro bike seat post mounting. It resulted in some very strange shimmering results in places but the sunset was worth it.
  20. Cheers Pete. Did anyone get off the ground in the end?
  21. It was good to meet you and Simon yesterday Pete.
