  1. Silky smooth air in The Brecon Beacons this evening, didn't want to land but the light went.
  2. They're in Morocco doing paragliding training. Back next week.
  3. Pete in the video looks remarkably similar to a Pete I met a few weeks ago, bumped into him parked up on top of a hill in south Wales and so we went flying. He was in a Swift campervan with a powered hang glider on the roof. A genius pilot. He was off to catch a ferry the next day to meet his girlfriend somewhere in Europe and to go flying. Hell of a nice guy.
  4. Cheers Luke. I was taking a wrap for landing and the handle just sprang out of my hand, never had that happen before (certainly don't want it again).
  5. These are based on not the latest version, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of current reviews: http://www.iphoneappsplus.com/navigatio ... /index.htm http://iphoneappsplus.com/reviews-30946 ... 3459-0.htm It does look very good though.
  6. Missing something, emmmmmm Okay. However, I like my Volution1.
  7. I must be missing something. Why the big downer of Parajet in the past few weeks?
  8. He says hang glider which makes you wonder if he has no idea what he's talking about or if he just didn't read the article.
  9. I have seen a few versions of this in my news feed but the latest one mentions an engine so it sounds like a paramotor accident: http://www.thisissouthdevon.co.uk/54-ye ... story.html
  10. I thought I'd seen enough when he came in low over power lines. I guess the trees and large building immediately after the viaduct should also be on the list. The quick face shot shows the motivation for doing it though.
  11. That's one good reason to fly early in the day, to have a boozy rest of the day. Thanks for the idea. It was pretty but very unsettled, absolutely zero wind on launch but a big headwind after a few hundred feet which used loads of fuel and was very bumpy. Worth it for the views though
  12. Not to mention swells, tides, etc.
  13. Pretty bumpy and very blowy above 1000 agl in the Brecon Beacons tonight. Looked lovely though.

    GIN Winter gloves.

That's good to hear. Any issues with bulkiness affecting things?

Bump from 3 years ago. Are you still using these Simon? If so do you still rate them?
  16. Last week, when ground running my Volution, the rubber bung in the top of one of the frame tubes came out and was sucked into the prop at high revs. Whilst an unlikely occurrence, it is worth checking them as part of the preflight. Having said that, there's not much to check as they are push fit; mine were both in before the engine was started. Having spoken with Parajet, they have heard of this happening on a previous occasion so there may other times that have gone unreported. Their suggestion is to drill a hole and rivet them in, glue them in or remove them completely. Simon W has suggested using some silicone which is probably what I'll do.
  17. Excellent and thanks for doing this. Have amended the Heads of the Valleys entry and added one more nearby.
  18. Very smooth. Was that shot with a tandem camera operator?
  19. The best sites are around The Mountain Centre but for the summer months they are too overgrown with ferns and unusable. I have permission from farmers to use various fields when clear of sheep/cattle but each one has it's limitations depending on wind direction, trees, slope, size, etc. As you head out to Hay and especially Hereford the fields get bigger, flatter and better. I made contact with Talgarth airfield but despite some member support it seems to be quite political and the committee refused to let me use the airfield for paramotoring. Soon the farmers will be cutting the ferns back and the best place to look at is probably around the Mountain Centre, north of Pen y Fan mountain.
