  1. These are just at the testing stage now with a finished product having a waterproof seal at the waist and ankles. The first production run is aimed at the tip to tip 2010 pilots to keep the adrenaline from running out whilst flying in mid day thermals. Pete b Dont you just want to start poping them Another use for the tip to tip 2010 - The popping noise might also scare off the croc when it's gnashing at your leg!

    For xmas

I wanted a Plusmax helmet when I started out as I loved the look and liked the idea of them being dual accredited for free flying and snowsports - And they are very light. I tried the biggest one that they make but my bonce is so big that it came nowhere near to fitting! - Shame. Ended up with a Boeri Vibe as they make these in larger sizes (go up to XXXL!) and has the removable ear flaps and closeable vents like the plusmax (and bonus that it was £39). It is accredited for alpine sports but not for freeflying. I researched the difference between the testing regime for EN1077 (skiing) and EN966 (freeflight) and found them to be the same so I am confident that it will protect me but am aware that it is not strictly legal! Best regards, Ian.
  3. A name sticker is a great idea - I can stick it on my handbag. .............................Oops! Did I just think that out loud??? Seriously though, I will be there on the Sunday and think that badges/stickers will work nicely to allow us to spot each other. Best regards, Ian.

    For xmas

Ingenious! Must have taken ages to set that up. Might take a bit more than dusting to tidy up after either the hairdryer or candle fire and hot water flood. Then you'd have no credit left on the mobile to summon a fire engine/claims assessor after the egg and spoon had made their call! They must be paramotorists alleviating the boredom of prolonged periods of being grounded by the wet windy autumn days! Where do you find all this stuff???

    For xmas

Hi Dave If your misses is anything like mine, then for an easy life you will have to buy your own replacement with extreme cunning. It always helps if the new acquisition looks like the old version for deniability. As your PAP 1100 looks nothing like a titanium compact then you're knackered, unless you stealthily and slowly change the look of your current machine to look more similar. Better buy some titanium coloured paint, and mock up the thicker cage with some gaffer tape or something! Best regards, Ian.

    Dolomiti - Italia

Looks like it was a great trip! When did you go, I don't think you mentioned it? Wasn't October by any chance???
  7. Yep, must be similarities (flaws?) in the personalities of motorcyclists and paramotorists. But then I have heard paramotoring described as being the closest thing to riding a motorbike in the sky! Had a Yamaha YZF600R Thundercat which was my first bike after passing my direct access test, and a Kawasaki KLR250. Used up several of my 9 lives but will have another bike in the future. Best regards, Ian.
  8. At the risk of coming over all Lemmings, how about para-stig?

    Vario? altimeter

I use a Garmin eTrex Vista C which has everything that I need built into one small unit - Bright colour screen, GPS maps, a barometric altimeter and a magnetic compass. I have put some sticky backed velcro on the back and it stays nicely on top of my front mounted reserve. A lanyard attached to the harness ensures that it doesn't disappear! Was fairly cheap from Ebay at £78 nearly new! One on ebay for 90 quid- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GARMIN-ETREX-VISTA-C-HANDHELD-OUTDOOR-GPS-1-YR-WTY_W0QQitemZ350118034889QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item350118034889&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1345%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
  10. That's great! Fitting tribute to an awesome achievement. Made me come over all patriotic and gave me goose bumps. Especially liked seeing again the faces change in the Ferrari garage when they realised that Lewis had the chamionship - Priceless! Best regards, Ian.

    Paramotor Shop.

Just a bit picky but when I registered in the shop it asked for my date of birth in the horrible yank format of mm/dd/yyyy. Is this changeable to our lovely British format of dd/mm/yyyy? Cheers. 100th post. Woo Hoo!
  15. What else is there??? Be safe, Ian.

    props

Hi Mike Great to hear that you've got the new prop on. How does it differ from the original? Have you got any pictures?? Best regards, Ian.
  17. Fancy going through the whole falling into your own wing, the reserve taking forever to open then landing safely in the sea......... Just to be run over by the safety boat!!! Just for interest, I fly a Parajet Volution (compact) and have a front mounted reserve. I fly with the throttle in my right hand so have set up the bridles for a left hand deployment. The bridle is routed back along the left swing arm, then up the side of the back plate to behind my neck and then down to the maillons on the shoulders. I agree with Francis that a controlled deployment is critical so I use short pieces of double sided velcro (known as self gripping ties) cut to size from a reel (shown below) to attach the bridles to the arms and other attachment points. http://velcro-solutions.co.uk/cms/Adjustable_Ties.56.0.html
  18. Hi Colin. The GSC 3 blade ground adjustable is now set at 19 degrees which gives an engine RPM of about 7800 which is what it revs to with the original 3 blade carbon fibre one. I did have concerns that the additional weight would increase the torque effect on steering but happily there was no perceptable difference. It was set for 25 degrees on my last attempted takeoff which gave 6800 RPM in the hope of more dynamic (whilst flying) thrust for greater efficiency but this gave too little static (whilst stationary) thrust to get my 15 stones into the air. Hope this is of some use to anyone going down the same road. Happy to answer any questions. Best regards, Ian.
  19. What a great way to start the weekend! Three of us (Mike1714 and instructor Andy) took off from the field at the top of Detling Hill. There were 2 balloons on the horizon, we flew over light wind grounded paraglidists (ha, ha) and I have finally found a configuration for the 3 blade ground adjustable which pushed me and my Parajet compact off the ground nicely in about 3 mph winds. Then had a couple of pints at a country pub before heading home for dinner - Perfection?
  20. I retro fitted the wingtip kit to my revo. Below is an animated step by step guide to the knott. http://www.animatedknots.com/prusikscouting/ The link to the actual instructions on the Paramania web site which I used seems to be broken - http://www.flyparamania.com/images/wingtipkit%20instructionsv2.pdf I downloaded it to my computer. If you want to PM me your email address then I will send it through. Best regards, Ian.
  21. Hi G6 Nice idea but.................... I wonder how long your mate will keep the Paramania/Airwave etc contract to manufacture their wings if those companies find out that he is prepared to knock them out to punters directly in their home markets at knock down prices, completely cutting them and the dealer network out???? Not very long would be my guess!! And what about aftersales service? Packing a wing up and sending it to China for inspection if there is a problem would soon get tedious and expensive. Just my 2 pence worth! By the way, do you do motors? I'm not sure if you mentioned it! Best regards, Ian.
  22. Hi Alan A lot of us on here use Parajet motors, but without context the question does seem a little out of left field. I will reply as best I can without knowing where you are coming from in the hope that you have a genuine query. I have only been paramotoring since earlier this year and started out on my Parajet Volution (compact) which I still use and love. I am 95kg and it propells me into the air fine under my Revolution 28, even in low wind conditions. It is supremely strong and comfortable. Paramotors by their nature squeeze as much power out of as light a construction as possible. As such I have unsurprisingly had a couple of technical challenges which have been easily overcome either with the excellent support of Parajet, or simple fixes that I have taken on by myself (such as fitting netting). Overall I would recommend Parajet to anyone who is interested in finding out about them. Hope this helps?? Best regards, Ian.
  23. Uncomfortable prop wash! Not recommended I know, but have you ever stood behind a paramotor at full throttle? The prop would have to be far enough away so that you could not make bodily contact but this would be unstable and unwieldy, not to mention harder to keep from contacting with the ground. Thinking of a project Francis? Best regards, Ian.
  24. Seems like a bargain. Shame I need fat B*****d size!
  25. I thought it might have been removed because he had died, but the muppett (Kevin Kearney) is recovering and says that he would do it again. Keep watching the news as darwinism would indicate that he will probably find another spectacularly stupid way of topping himself! Hope he doesn't take up paramotoring! Still available to view here (embellished with 911 recordings) - http://www.wkrg.com/hurricane/article/kite_surfer_slammed_into_building_911_calls/17056/ Best regards, Ian
