Not paramotoring but these guys are mad!

Recommended Posts

Having just read up on the camera - it looks pretty awesome as well.

I love the idea of the three video capture modes :

  • Full HD: 1080p HD @30fps 127° FOV

  • Wide Angle: 960p HD @30fps 170° FOV

  • SlowMo: 720p HD @60fps 170° Ultrawide FOV

The other main upgrade is a completely redesigned power system, which was the main reported weakness of the non-HD model.
The new Li-Ion battery will last 2-3hrs, and evidently includes an internal heating system to keep the battery warm and extending its life during winter use. There is also a new extended battery option, for long haul trips.
HD Helmet Hero - Preliminary Review
So this is going to be added to my rapidly lengthening Xmas list.
For once my better half is not going to be able to complain that she hasn't got a clue what to buy me for Christmas :
  • * Paramotor

  • * Wing

  • * Helmet

  • * Harness

  • * Reserve chute

  • * Head mountable HD camera

  • * Flying suit

  • * GPS / Vario

  • * PPG books & maps

  • * ...etc. etc....

Have I forgotten anything ?

Does this camera come with all fittings, memory card etc? or are there any bits that you have to order separately.

Also don't want to sound stupid but how do you turn it on or off when you are flying?

1) It just looks like you need to buy the memory card (SD type), as the following is included:

  • 5 Megapixel HD Helmet HERO Camera
    1 Rechargeable 1100 mAh Lithium-Ion Battery
    1 Waterproof Quick-Release Housing (180’/60 m)
    1 Headlamp-Style Head Strap
    1 Vented Helmet Strap
    2 Curved, 3M™ Adhesive Mounts
    2 Flat, 3M Adhesive Mounts
1 Three-Way Pivoting Side Arm Assembly
    2 Quick-Release Buckles
    1 USB Cable
    1 Component Video (HDTV) Cable
1 Composite Video + Audio Out Cable

2) More a case of switching it on before launch, if using head mount. Especially if jumping of a mountain

Actually there is a fairly chunky Power/Mode button on the front of the camera, and shutter button on the top. So the camera can presumably be operated in motion, but might need some practice first.

Do Helmet mounted cameras have a cable operated shutter for still photos?
The word is that a few cool accessories are to be rolled out for this camera, including a wireless remote and a wireless stereo microphone.

But if you didn't want that, you could just put it into repeat photo mode (where it takes a photo every 2, 5 or 10 seconds). As the HD version supports up to 32GB SDHC, you won't run out of storage. You can then choose the individual photos you want, or merge the into a stopmotion type movie... 8)
