  1. I have decided to keep the Moster I have already and bolt it to a Zenith, I haven't heard too many good things about the Polini, I'll hang for a couple of months and see if the new mods are any good but I have also heard about the new Bailey, if it does what is promised then I'll put my name on the waiting list! Thanks for all your help Badger
  2. The Tube has an anti Furl device on the end - we use them on some of the flags we sell, it's used to stop the flag whipping about in the wind and destroying the trailing edge, this would mean that you could keep the tube straight not tapered and create less drag. Video and Photos of progress and attempts will follow soon - ish!
  3. I really like this Idea, One of my suppliers is a flag maker and this would be easy for them to make, if I get them to leave an area in the front end to thread a metal hoop through and rigging up some attachment points would be simple, I'm going to get one made up with my company name on the side, If you want one as well let me know I shouldn't think it would be too expensive at all. If I'm promoting my own company then I don't see it as breaking any laws regarding financial reward? Simon can you get a banner towing Smilies?
  4. Hi all I am currently pondering changing my set up from a Moster powered pxp to a Zenith, I was thinking about moving to a Polini Thor 200 as I learnt with the 100 and loved the clutch and motor, but at the time i was buying my motor the 200 wasn't about so went for the Moster instead. Now I know the Moster has had it's fair share of issues but they have all been sorted very nicely and it's now a great set up, but I miss the clutched drive so am considering the Thor - or should I say was! Are they really as bad as I've been reading about? I have had a good search about and there isn't many good things said about them, is this just a lot of noise about a few duff motors or should I stick with a Moster powered unit? Any help would be greatly appreciated Badger
  5. Would like to add an example to the above Bristol Airports runway starts about 50' from the main Bristol Trunk road, you couldn't get much closer if you tried, the big planes come in so low over the roof tops of local houses that Roof tiles get lifted by the vortex. On a side issue if you ever wondered how far behind a big commercial jet the turbulence stretches and how powerful it is you should take a trip to the airport, it's a good minute after the plane goes over before the vortex hits and it's really quite powerful.
  6. First attempt at a video using iMovie and a go pro 2, if nothing else the music is great! Badger
  7. Morning Gordon Just been out with a tape measure, it's 1300mm high but there is a couple of door fixings that hang down 30 - 40mm in the middle, its also 1300mm wide in the widest part. Hope this helps Badger
  8. HI Gordon I have the transit Connect High roof LWB, I'll have a look tomorrow morning but it sounds about right, we bought it because it will easily load an 8' x 4' sheet (1220 x 2440) so I would think 1300 would not be a stretch. I'll measure it in the morning and get back to you Badger
  9. HI Carmen Would just like to agree with the above comment, great post! Gutted I missed the Fly-in but had a great couple of hours locally Badger
  10. I fly a PXP Moster and can vouch for the build quality and reliability, the frame is a similar design to a PAP as far as I can see, very well built and simple to repair as its a steel frame, good mounting points for the reserve, breaks down to a reasonable size, ticks all the boxes. Really like the Moster, very simple and reliable motor, lots of power if and when you need it, pretty good on fuel in the cruise as its barley past tickover in normal flight. Very happy with mine and would thoroughly recommend Badger
  11. I have been looking inti getting one of the renegade "plastic frames" in from the states, with all the shipping costs and import duty I think I could get them to sell for about £1,500 +vat, this is for the swan neck low hang point frame and harness only. The set up would best suit a moster engine with a 125 prop, the harness is the new acpo light weight one. It looks like a great design, all the frame spars are interchangeable so if you manage to break one just replace it with the spare and off you go! If anyone else is seriously interested I would be happy to get in a couple and possibly stock them and some spares, but would like to gauge interest first, so please get in touch if you are Sorry Simon if this is the wrong place to "advertise" this.
  12. Hi Ganers That was one of the main reasons I bought a PXP, Stainless steel and a little heavier but easy to fix and bend back into shape, if - or when the need arises! great bit of kit Badger
  13. Hi E I live in Bristol but travel down that way often, and have some good sites around the area. Badger
  14. Hi Chilly I Would second the above, love the thought of improving my flying but am a little daunted by the thought of competing against some of the "hot shots" Great idea Badger
  15. Hi Simon looks like a great offer but what do we have to download? it gets a little confusing when you look at the site, Do we need the vector maps ? Do we need to buy £99 chart bundle and then "top up" with a chat that we may need or can we just buy a £25 chart for a region? Badger

    iPad question

Hi Poz / Simon Would like do do a similar thing with the ipad, just wondered how you got on with the app or if you tried it? Many thanks Badger
  17. How about a joint effort? If everybody gets kitted up and faces South west at say 4PM on Friday gives it full welly and provided we dig our feet in I reckon we can shift ourselves down to some sunny calm weather - provided we miss France as they might get a bit upset if we take a chunk out of Bretagne. Have ourselves a weekend of flying and BBQ's, maybe organize a fly in or 2 and generally enjoy the nice calm weather then, if all goes to plan we could all face North East on Sunday afternoon and be back on Monday morning and nobody would be too put out.
  18. Thanks for the reply Morgy But... I am getting the same thing happen even if I reverse launch, wing rock solid over my head turn and start the take off run and I still get the same initial rocking back and forward motion, only happens for a short few steps but I would like to try and stop it. A friend has taken some footage of it happening, I'll try and get hold of it and post it on here.
  19. Take off Tips please I have been flying the Speedster for a number of months now and am still getting a slight forwards / backwards rocking motion on the wing during the start of my take off run. I am trying to feather in the speed gently and increase my take off run at a steady rate but am still feeling the wing surging and dropping back above my head, it doesn't effected the take off as it is only on the initial part of the run and by the time I am leaving the ground it is flying smoothly. I have tried different trim settings and also going balls out on the throttle from the start but i'm still getting this annoying oscillation. It's more noticeable on a forwards nil wind launch but It does still happens on windier reverse launches. It's not something that Iv'e experienced with any of the other wings Iv'e flown and not something that is causing any problems but it's just a bit annoying. Does anyone have any tips or different techniques that they use? does anyone have the same problems? Many thanks
  20. Hi Martin Very impressed with the website, as soon as I get the chance I'll give you a call and meet up, I would love to have a float about over salcombe and dart moor, if you are looking to add sites to your list Weston beach is a great place to fly from but the beach wardens like you to be able to show some sort of qualification before they will let you play. Catch up soon - hopefully! Badger
  21. Hi morgy Thanks for the reply, I have spoken to a local pilot who says he usually flys from the beaches around the area so if all else fails I'll find a nice quiet spot on a beach and have a play from there Adam
  22. I am lucky enough to have managed to get a trip this weekend to Pembroke, not wishing to jinx the weather too much but it looks like it may be flyable, does anybody know of any good places to fly or not to fly, I know the paragliding boys have had a run in with a farmer or two and have been banned from a few locations & I really don't want to nark anyone off if it can be easily avoided. Or even better if anyone is about to join me for a float about, the more the merrier! I even have a spare ticket for the world clif diving championships that are being held there this weekend. Any pointers or help would be greatly received. Many thanks Badger
  23. I have flown the smaller Thor and thought it was great, it is simple to look after, well built and great looking, i loved the centrifugal gearbox and it was easy to start and very reliable, but being on the larger side and wanting to upgrade to a reflex wing I wanted something with a bit more power and the bigger thor wasn't out so I bought a moster, I miss the centrifugal gearbox a little but other than that I can't fault the moster, it's easy to start on the ground and in the air, it's easy to maintain, parts are rediable available and it is very reliable, it has loads of power - I spend most of the time on about half power so it only sips the fuel, it's a great machine. Which ever one you chose you won't be disappointed. I don't think the additional weight of the Thor would make too much difference as a couple of kilos on the grand scheme of things isn't that important to me, If it was my choice though I think I may go for the Thor but only because of the gearbox.
  24. Hi Popgeddy Can't help much with the flying sites as I'm the other side of the country in "Sunny Bristol" but I am a similar weight (not too sure about being described as lithe though!) I have a PXP Moster and a Ozone Speedster 30, The Moster is great, can't fault it at all, really simple to use and look after and it has plenty of power - I can still climb on full speed bar and trimmers out, but spend most of the time just cruising about on about quarter throttle. I have just bought the wing and love it - obviously Ozone is the best on the market by far as I have just bought one, so I'm afraid i can't help on the wing much either but I'm sure you won't regret either or need to change. Welcome to the sport
