  1. If you look at the spec charts for wings. The most obvious answer determining the size of wing you choose is the amount of weight hanging under it. If you choose a small wing and are heavy, you will go faster but need more power to climb. Size is also a safety aspect. If you are too light on a large glider, the lack of loading may allow a collapse easier than if you were at a correct loading on a perfect wing. The wings usually have recommended weight ranges eg 95 - 125Kg. Best to stick with those. Cheers Stu
  2. There can be some vibration as there is an engine on your back. A balanced prop helps things though. You are usually doing about 30mph, so stick your head out the car at 30mph - it's like that. Some motors are more noisy than others but I wear a headset which makes everything okay, especially when the ipod is on. You won't notice all that stuff as you will be enjoying the view and looking down at your feet thinking "am I seriously hanging from some string and nylon!" Have fun.
  3. I agree with Al (above). Don't be temped to buy anything until you have spoken to an instructor. Spend time reading forums and watching videos. You'll love it!!
  4. Hi, I fly a Volution Macro (old 180cc). I'm heavy at 100kg plus kit. On a Synthesis 34. I get 350ft climb usually. Stuart
  5. Vimeo stuff does look good, but so does youtube if you select 720 or 1080 in the settings at the bottom of the video. Were you watching HD? I was tempted myself but it is a lot to pay for no adverts. Stuart
  6. Excellent. Hope you are getting a good cut. Look forward to seeing it.
  7. I have a low hang point with a Synthesis, and mine came all nicely tied in a small bundle. Better that way incase you sell it on or move to high hangpoint.
  8. See my post on your wing question. I've seen the ebay ad and it all looks fine, but it may not all be for you.
  9. LT31 only tells us it is a size 31. What model? Nucleon? Reaction? Synthesis? I would strongly recommend you wait to speak to your instructor before buying any kit. Wings come and go all the time, and your instructor will advise as to what is good for you. Hope this helps, I was told the same stuff when looking about, and as much as I wanted to crack on, I'm glad I held off. Stuart
  10. I had a similar problem for about 5 minutes until I realised the tip steering ball was trapped between two risers which tensioned it just enough to cause some steering. Where the karabiner clips into my wing, I have two options of where to slot through (Dudek Synth), i believe this is for offsetting torque if needed. I always check I put through the same loop on each side as my set up is well balanced anyway. Stu
  11. Thanks Alan, I don't know what this forum would do without you!
  12. Hi, has anyone tried this radio? http://www.moonraker.eu/Amateur-Radio/Transceivers-and-Brand-Accessories/Handheld-Transceivers/Moonraker-Handheld/HT-90E-2M-144-146MHz-HANDHELD-TRANSCEIVER I held one in Maplin yesterday, very small and light and it would apear to take the standard plug on my microavionics headset. Good price too at £60 Just don't know if it transmits on 143.950. Might buy it just to find out as my current radio is quite heavy / bulky. Cheers Stuart
  13. Brilliant Seymore, thanks. I'd love to fly more up there but the only real option was the car park at the ski centre and that is sometimes busy. I'll put it on my list of options. Windy here in Perth today, hopefully better with you in the West.
  14. Hey Seymore, it looks fantastic! Can you show me your take off site (on the map) up Glen Etive please - for future reference! Stuart
  15. Hey Seymore, I'd love to join you but have stuff on this weekend. Really jealous of your Skye trip, I love it up there. I just need to wait for the kids to move out and get myself a camper van. Perhaps 15 years. Have fun and can't wait to see the movies! Stuart
  16. Hi, my Volution 1 carb says the exact model on the side of the carb. Walbro WB37 i think. Have you had a good look all the way around it? Cheers Stu
  17. Hi stu, If yours is the 6 pin version then yes it should fit, but I will check my old single carbon prop to make sure, I know that the reduction is smaller so I will check stud spacings But once I have Thë prototype it will be able to be adapted for any machine I think... Prop needs to have 25mm hole in centre though Thanks Mark Yip, it does have the 25mm hole, but uses the smaller hole spacing on the driven pulley (with the smaller holes too). Not an issue really, I would just get the next prop with the proper holes! The reduction is determined by the size of the pulley not the holes. My pulley has both hole sets on it. Stuart
  18. It's good huh. I bet you walk around (or fly around) wondering why everyone doesn't have a paramotor!
  19. kin ell ! Oh. That is very expensive.
  20. It does look awesome - hope the price isn't too crazy.
  21. From the look of the pics, I can't see how it will stand up on it's own. Is there a fold out stand or something? Would help with fuel filling, pre / post flight checking etc.
  22. If you follow Parajet on Facebook, they have just posted some pics of the new Zenith. A complete re-design. Looks very light, with simple to change parts. Not as strong as the Volution I assume, but very nice. Wonder when it goes on sale, and if I can convince the wife I need one!
  23. Hi, I reckon there are about 20 pilots in Scotland. I live in Perth, give me a private message if you want a chat or to meet up. Happy to help where I can. Stuart
