  1. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Paramoteur-Caques ... dZViewItem I took delivery of the above helmet today, along with my Alinco adapter which all works and fits. I did have to bend some stuff to get a tight fit to my ears but now I have done that it all seems just fine. I will fly with it as soon as I can but I will say for those of you who need a helmet with comms for training e.t.c this will be OK for the job. Not A1 or top notch at all, but it will do the job for a small sum of money. CAUTION!!! DONT BUY THE KIT WITH THE RADIO AS WELL!!! THE RADIO IS NO GOOD IN THE UK. Just get yourself a nice popular radio and they will send the lead that you need with it. Cant say more than that to be honest. Windy still.......
  2. All, Here is a link to a picture of a crop circle in Lambourn about 1km away from the Lambourn Club. As soon as this wind goes away...... tomorrow maybe??? I will get up and get a decent few pics for the album. http://cropcircleconnector.com/forum/vi ... php?t=2314 Ta Ta 4 Now!
  3. Thanks to Tracy, Paramotherbrown, Lemmings (for typing it out for me) The Lambourn Paramotor Club is a relatively new venue for paramotoring in the south, set in beautiful countryside in the island of class G airspace between Brize Norton, Fairford, Larkhill Ranges, Boscombe and Heathrow. It was started by Simon Westmore, born of a common need he found amongst many fellow paramotor pilots. Most are self-taught and flying in isolation. Many have acquired good technical skills and have a responsible and safety-conscious attitude, but have missed out on the training in meteorology, air law and flight theory that learning through registered schools would have provided. Simon says he has obtained club insurance cover that permits him to train and assess these pilots and provide them with individual insurance cover for their solo flying. I have been to Lambourn on two separate occasions and find the club atmosphere friendly and welcoming. There is a wealth of experience and friendly advice to help pilots of all levels to develop their skills and knowledge. The club is run as an airfield and all the attendant regulations for safe operation. Pilots are carefully briefed on the flight paths to and fro, agreed with local residents. Regular fly-outs are organised the next being to Dartmoor - complete with land-borne back up and barbecue, I am told! The last time I went the club had organised a day to meet the On-Risk people, the insurers, and to try out the new Dudek range of paramotor wings brought in my the importer, Clive Bunce. I had tried the Reaction with my Parajet Volution on a previous visit so this time I flew the new Synthesis. Its billing as a tamer version of the Reaction made me think it was sedentary wing but that was not the case. I found it very responsive and just as fast as the Reaction. I think Dudek have found a winner here. All in all a very god day out, and a friendly barbecue in the barn as the rain started! Needless to say I have joined the club. Reported by Francis Rich Now thats wat I am talking about!! Cheers Francis. If you want to reply to this letter in Skywings e-mail it to 'Joe Schofield' skywings@bhpa.co.uk
  4. OK, The second petrol stop has now been confirmed. and is just outside of out 5km circle. I have heard that you can download a memory map reader for free from the internet I will try to find a link so that I can send you the updated route. (which also now follows a nicer & further from airspace route 'slightly' You can continue to familirize yourselfs with the route you have as it has only change very slightly and I will update you at the final brief. I will also start to work on converting the air route to a road route card for the ground crew, which will ensure that you are picked up quickly if needed. IF YOU HAVE LANDED FOR ANY OTHER REASON THAN PETROL START TO PACK YOU WING AWAY. (Which reminds me, all pilots are to carry a bag/ stuffbag for his / her wing. I will provide a basic kit list for the trip. Not long now. People who are ready and have completed a 100km NavEx are, Simon Westmore Clive Bunce Jeoff Lloyns Dave Hairs Rach Hairs Simon Payne If your name is not on this list please contact me, If you can show that you can nav the trip yourself and have flown for over 1 hour and 45 mins in the past, I will consider this enough. THIS IS DUE TO THE BAD WEATHER AND THERE NOT BEING MUCH TIME LEFT TO GET THE NAV EX IN. Cheers ALL.
  5. This evening I had the best flight I have had this year! I feel so lucky to be able to say that twice in a row!! (when everyone is moaning about the weather as well!! )I think its this darn motor!!! Its getting me even more addicted than I already was! Giles you swine! Well and Mr Dudek Synthesis! your one too! How will I ever get any work done now! OK so, I filled up the Parajet, and ran out of petrol over my landing field after a 2 hour 20 min flight. I was chasing 3 ballons but got trapped in to the (They are fairly close) thing and was sure that there was airspace in between us but did not want to turn over my map as I needed it for my route. I was wishing I had fitted my speed bar at the time but if I had used it I would have landed out somewhere short of home from running out of petrol. I have taken a few pics and will shrink them and uplaod them when I have got over my plesent buzz in about 5 days time Well it seems its the late bird who catches the biggest worm at the moment. I now feel more ready than ever for the Dartmoor trip we have planned in August. I have just been reminded how much great fun this sport is, I dont think I could ever replace it. O yhe I landed to an awesome sunset the reddest I have seen, Pics on my phone as I filled up my camera card on the flight. Cheers all.
  6. I feel like I have not given ANDY FROM ABC STUDIO enough of a bigging up for this website. May I suggest that if you have any website needs that you give him a shout, he is fast, inexpensive, and good! www.abcstudio.co.uk I have not be paid for this post
  7. All, Please use this thread to post your Paramotor training blogs. PLease start your own thread with your name. If you are intersted in Paramotor lessons, please get in touch (I will be happy to point you at your local instructor) Enjoy
  8. What shall we do in September? Comp? Nav type (normal flying) Something for Charity? Something a little more extreme? What would you like to see organised?
  9. To the Dartmoor pilots, Sunday it looking like a scorcher of a day with nice gentle breeze, if this turns out to be the case, I am going to be flying the first 2-3 legs of the Dartmoor route. (which takes us to, Devizes white horse) I will have to make it an early evening flight as I will be teaching in the day time. Whos with me?
  10. But I was the only person with the Muscle mass to carry out the suggested bend!
  11. PS, It was WeeSplat who saved the day with the bending idea!!!!!! It worked a treat! Every motor needs a niggle sorting to your taste.
  12. No worries Terry, The new RAD is looking great, pull and leci start. (always nice to have both!) Nicely put together, The general quality of the motor seems to have gone up a notch. Well done to Martin the new owner!! You took on a hard one there and seem to be pulling it off! Great to see the latest (and first) pull and leci start! Now Terry stop going on holiday and get some motoring done mate!
  13. Ok so last night I had the best flight of the year. Dare I say it..... 'as always' with the Synth a nice easy launch (touch a bit of wood LOL) I was lucky enough to be in the air when the sun was setting and had popped out 'beolw' the overcast sky. What a great site that I dont think I have seen for a few years. Going up again today for more of the same..... (unless I get a student that is) PS what with recent talks about flying in the dark, I landed at 21:25 don't try this at home.
  14. Dave, I will be flying today for much of the day. Please feel free to pop over if you would like to come and watch.
  15. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ldzfT8rCz9E All, this is Francis and Weesplat on a Parajet Volution ?(one man Paramotor) and the Dudek Orca. A very scratchy take off but a take off no less! For take off skip to 3.20 mins
  16. Huummm yes I was forgetting the jinx effect. We should talk of this no more!
  17. "He does this full time which means that when I can do it he's (almost) always ready and willing. " Stuart, I dont know how many times I have to tell you mate, you can not fly in the dark.!! LOL Cheers
  18. Yippppeeeeeeeee 'for August' The Azores High may at last begin to assert itself in our direction and some southern areas of the UK can expect the weather to be a little drier and warmer - northern areas will be the last to see any improvement, if at all. (this is taken from the long range forcast for the first week in August, so lets hope that we are good for the Dartmoor trip at the end of the second week. Dare I try and go for another fly today???!!!!???? 3 in a row...
  19. I have replied to you too Thanks for the help Eric. 2nd and 3rd weekend 2nd is the P1 and if the weather is no good the 3rd weekend is the P2. 3rd weekend not good for you Fingers Xed for the 2nd
  20. Hi Dave, As far as when we are flying, please keen an eye on the Lambourn Paramotor Club thread which is normaly where the (are you flying this weekend posts) I have a school wing for ground work until you get good enough to use the School Synth From there on in we have a nice new Titanium Parajet for you to learn on. Any time you like you are more than welcome to call , visit, whatever.... its a full time thing for me. Also Ian, Thanks very much indeed for your comments.
  21. All, Thanks for coming to the route brief (and I will hold a two more closer to the time with the very final route) Its now down to the flying, we need to start on the Navex stuff as soon as the weather will allow. It is better for me to do this in the evenings if it is a weekend as I am normaly teaching during the day (people who hope to be on the flight!) If you would like a lesson from Dave H, or Simon P let him know. (cheers Simon P, you just seemed so filipping good at it.) As I said you will need to attend at least 1 100KM NavEx to fly to Dartmoor Even that is a real minimum to ask for..... All we need now is a window to fly it....
  22. On the face of it, the seal that WeeSplat / Colin has found seems to be a good one for a newbie needing all of the kit and trying to keep the price down, (Its easy to forget when you sell kit that you often have ALL if it to buy and the total is a big one) I would still wait out until Colins turns up, as I have heard of people having a problem or two getting them...... I dont have mine yet even though its the wrong one....... FOR SALE GREAT FREE FLYING LID WITRH BUILT IN RADIO STUFF. (WITH A LEAD FOR SOMETHING OTHER THAN A RADIO TOO!!!! ) £What I paid. Be quick if you want it before I send it back (as soon as it gets here).
  23. So I have had another great flight in the Parajet already this morning Sets you up for the day This time (due to the silky morning air) I flew up to 2000ft in what seemed like no time at all. I then killed the motor and wound my way back down to 500ft, weight shifting and a little bit of input with half trim makes for some great fun indeed! so..... I did it again twice more. Dare I say it, I was starting to miss free flying a little bit but now I am not The maddest thing is that Parajet make an even smaller motor than the one I have and I know it would do the trick for me 100% I can not reccomend this motor enough for distance, comfort, and fun. It realy is a portable hill (get the height, turn it off, thermal until your hearts content. I am buzzing and feel very lucky indeed to be in a position where I have a Titanuim Parajet!!! Thanks to all who have helped me to get to this point, Giles, Simon P, Terry W, Both the robs, and everyone else who is supporting the club and me.
  24. All, Please go to http://www.paramotorclub.org/petition/index.php and leave your deatils in support of a better ratings system for Reflex wings.
  25. So I got to have a fly on my new Titanium Parajet Volution today and I have to say that I was very impressed! Weather, Thermic Wing Synth Motor As above I have to also say, I know I am a dealer so please dont take my word for it come and have a fly I will even pay for the petrol. Full power, Full speed, Climbing nicely and flying in equilibrium mode involved nothing more than coming of the power, no aysimetric settings on the trimmers or Spreader bars, to be honest I dont know how it works but it works. ( that said it still dont like turning in to the torque 'which I juist had to test' ) I think that this is going to be the norm for all paramotors ever. The equilibirum flight though was a pleasure! It responds to weight shift very well indeed. (nothing like free flying of course but it is great to be able to hang out of the side of the harness and face the ground again) Didnt feel as though I was getting thrown around as much as I was expecting from the low hangpoints which was nice Thrust was 'more than enough' to get me well of the ground and climb out of sink at full speed with full trim. (and there was some big sink!) I dont know if it is almost to much more than enough?? but then I could have got the smaller motor for my weight. (didnt due to demoing it) Getting in to the harness involved a bit of a shuffle but then it is the first time I have had it in the air and it needs tweeking, and once in it harness is nice and snug and comfy. Getting back out, no problem at all. I found that the hand grip took a little getting used to on the ground before I could take off but have already decided that it is a great design and works perfectly with the TST of my Synth and any other TST mini toggles I am sure. As and when I have more of a play, I will give more info. Again, if you want a fly, please pop down to Lambourn and fly it for yourself. (Warning, you will want one I recon)
