  1. Thanks for this Dave, nice clear info. Thats what was needed
  2. The £5250 gets you. A Dudek Wing. A RAD Paramotor. 12-months insurance (including personal accident cover) (cover from On Risk) And 12 months in which to learn how to fly with me. Please do call or e-mail your number and I will call you to give you more details information.
  3. GPSJ Which I think stands for GPS Java SW Sorry I missed your call BTW.
  4. Maybe, I could try to arrange for a reserve packing person to get to the club one day so we can all do just that. I could have a word with the guy who set up the Big Fat Repack when it first started as I know him very well indeed. I am sure I will get some good pointers from him. (and I recon I can still put up a great death slide!) Has anyone been to the Big Fat Repack ? Whats the setup? I will go to the next one for sure!
  5. Please Please Please, never let this forum become as twitchy as some of the others. Please feel free to speek, just keep it clean and fun. I am off to wales now, until end of play Friday at best. Have fun
  6. The Paramania Revolution Is also an AWESOME wing. (and my first choice any day) ReAction For people who have been flying for a while, 20 hours or more I would say. The reason, more pilot input required, fast take off and landings. more agility in the air and 5kph more speed. Synth A Reflex wing for beginers, slower take off but still fast!, slower landings but still fast!, a little less top end, more stable, less agile than the ReAction. That said, it depends what you want from your flying. I have to also say this about the Dudek V Revolution thing, Paramanias MD (Mike Campbell Jones, invented the Reflex section for Paragliders, it has been copied by many (including Dudek) I will stick with the origonal inventors brand for sure. SW
  7. OK, I have spoken to Clive (the UK importer) he has an allup weight of close to 140kg as well and he flies a 31 ReActioon. His reccomendations / Reasons were, The top end speed stays the same as a smaller wing, but the slower stuff happens much slower. (landings I assume) I have mixed feelings about under loading wings and think its much better to be in the middle or top of it. He also suggests that the Synth is a beginner wing and that a ReAction would be a better option for existing pilots (assuming that you have been flying for a year or so.) If not I would go for the Revolution or synth. (synths are very cheep in the second hand marketplace, due to the market being saturated with cheep new ones a while back.) SW
  8. You recon your 140kg.... You need to get on the scales holding all your kit mate if you are 16 stone (101kg) you would have an allup of about 140 I recon. PM me if you wish but how much do YOU weigh?
  9. I am waiting for a quick call back from Clive on this, but you could well be better of going for the 31. I do know that it is nothing to be 20kg over on a wing but NEVER 20kg under! The calculation is fairly simple, if you look at the Dudek chart again, only look at the two wings of interest to you. The both account 100% for the weight of the motor, so..... a 31 would see you 5kg over with a full tank and then under with an empty tank LOL Clive will rescue me soon I am sure LOL keep watching
  10. Sounds like you will require a Dudek Either ReAction, or Synth (if buying a dudek of course) or a Paramania Revolution (my selection) in a 28. (Large) As I say you can fly them if you are here on the 26th and 27th of May (next weekend) Please let me know if I can be any more help to you Where do you live?
  11. I am up for a flight tomorrow morning if the weather does what it says on the tin. LOL Short notice I know but anyone?.....
  12. Well done to the Parajet team and of course Bear for not only breaking the world record for Paramotor Hright but doing it while flying over Everest!!!! Amazing!!! Speechless! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml;jsessionid=4YH3SN14ZMJUTQFIQMFSFFWAVCBQ0IV0?xml=/news/2007/05/15/wgrylls15.xml

    Reserve!

All, Have you ever had to throw your reserve in flight? Do you know anyone who has? Do you even fly with one? It will just be interesting to see how many people here have.
  15. All, It is looking like there may be a window of weather on Wednesday morning. (up until about 13-1400 hrs) Just in case you have not had the time to have a look. I am away on Thursday and Friday in Wales but it looks blown out anyway......
  16. Hummm, U Tube and the likes are full of videos of people crashing Paramotors / Paragliders. But only because the viewing public dont like the nice calm ones at the end of the evening, that we all love! Beware of watchih too much TV. A perfect example of the dangers of low flying BTW, as you say I think a bit more height and he would have been OK. good to see how quickly the wing sorted itself out. (A REFLEX WING) is VERY UNLIKELY to suffer from a frontal collapse like this. (which I think was a thermal looking at the big black mamma over his head) may be wrong though....... I recon Dave H is our expert on this one......
  17. SLim. I hope to see you next week if weather allows. (now booked for Tuesday) although you are welcome to come and watch of course. Weather not looking great so may have to shift to Wednesday (maybe even Thursday Flipping Wind and Rain...... Great to see that your nice and Keen.
  18. Ok, how high have you been on your paramotor? Myself, 6700 ft. (not that high I know but hey... it was cold) I am much happier at 1500-2000 ft myself.
  19. All, I thought I would start building a little bit of 'basic' information so that those of you who are learning to fly, can look at it whenever required. I am mostly interested in the safety so have put a bit of a focus on that. You MUST ensure that you get in to your flying habbit to carry out a PRE FLIGHT CHECK it will save your life. Each time you fly check the following : Wing, is it yours, is the Sewing sound, are the lines all OK, is it the correct size. Harness All stiching OK, webbing straps all OK and not fraying, all buckles and clips are sound and secured, Riser set, (main controls) Karabiners OK, no rust deeo scratches, bends or dents. fitted to harness correctly. PRE LAUNCH Wind and Weather, know when is good and not! Helmet, on and done up. Harness, leg straps and waist straps are done up and checked, Lines and risers are free from twigs and tangles, Make sure your Karabiners are shut and tight, have oyou got the correct brakes in the correct hand, Clear above, behind, and to the side, (looking for other aircraft, other paramotors landing or taking off, Only now can you consider a launch. It is a good idea for anyone thinking of learning to fly a paramotor to remember the above.

    Props

Yippeeeeee, Wiating for the postman / woman, today as I get my new prop from Martin the new rad guy. (is a member here also) Why am I so excited as I will have 3 props and thats to many for anyone!! Well its because the two that I have got are 1.2 meter and the one that I am waiting for is 1.3 meter. I am told that this can = up to 9 kg of extra thrust!! (I recon more like 4-5 but even so) I am no fatter so the extra grunt will help a little more with climb outs. Flipping raining though Tuesday is still a poss, and Wednesday it looking good at the mo.
  21. All, It is now clear to me that I need to hold a day aimed at people who are in 'just about to go for it mode' so I would like to hold a day aimed at the newbies. And I would like to use the site for people with 10 hours or less for helping with ground handling, launching, landing weather, Air law.... blah blah.... It will be a day for -10 hours pilots and non- flyers to ask loads of questions and get a wing above there head. So if you one of the people above please let me know if your coming. I would say that it would be fair for me to charge a £10 a head for this day,
  22. Our site is a week old, LOOK at the stats for yesterday alone (one day).!!!!! this is OUTSTANDING! for a site so new. Executive Summary The web site received 683 visits. 23. Stuart, It was great talking, If you set your weather to Lyneham, this gives the most accurate info for the Lambourn site. As suggested though I will buzz you when its flyable so you at least have something to see Again Welcome.
