    Tandem ??

I have been thinking for a while that when I get a few hundred hours under my belt I might like to get a tandem setup so I can take friend's up to see what its all about and my son to (if the wife lets me ) What's the law surrounding tandems ? I would need another wing I guess and some sort of spreader for a parajet? I think the Macro would have enough power? Any one got experiences / advise to share? Cheers, Tom
  3. Glad they are ok, could have been a whole lot worse. Tom
  4. http://www.radiowarehouse.co.uk/peltor- ... adsets.php Found this and have spoken to radio warehouse and they say that it should work with the Midland radio. The only downside to this is that I cant use myMobile at the same time. But it's half the price of the micro av one ! decisions decisions Tom
  5. Alan, It sounds about right why would they have a "standard" that would just make it too easy for people to understand!! I guess thats why I had no mic or ptt working. Im going to get the micro avionice headset and as Fanman has suggested the Midland G7 I will get one of those to save any messing about. Thanks for the info Alan, and thanks for the tip Fanman. Tom
  6. Just to add that is with a micro avionics strobe, electric start with a two blade carbon prop. I'm not interested in manufacturer bashing as I wouldn't have bought the motor with out flying one first and it was just as heavy when I bought it ! Although it is a heavy motor I would not fly anything else as I think it's a great machine and my next motor will most likely be a Parajet too Bring on the Cyclone
  7. Just stuck my Macro on the scales and it's 35.4kg ready to fly without reserve and 37.9kg with reserve !! that's before I put any bloody fuel in Tom Parajet Volution Compact - 26kg (claimed) - 34kg (reported) Volution Macro - 27kg (claimed) - 35.4kg Flat Top 200 - 29kg (claimed) - 29kg (reported) PAP Top 80 - 25kg (claimed) - 23.4kg (reported) - interesting that this is lower Rad Arrow Classic - 17.5kg (claimed) - need data here Javelin Classic - 18.5kg (claimed) - need data here H&E R120 - 23kg (claimed) - 29kg (reported) Fresh Breeze Solo 210 - "from 29kg" (claimed) - 30.4kg (reported)
  8. Thanks for info, found this on google. Does any one know of a PMR radio that does work with the micro avionics headset (plug in with no adapter and work) ? I don't mind buying a new one if it's going to work straight away Tom
  9. I have got myself a cheepo pmr radio (binatone action950) it has a single connector for the mic/headset. I got a cheap kenwood headset from HK on ebay and retro fitted it into the ear defenders (peltor) on my icaro helmet, I then got an adapter from Maplins to plug it into my radio... the headphones work great but the mic does not work at all So I have scrapped that idea as it only cost me £5.99 for the headset and am now looking at being less tight and splashing out on a decent headset. I would like to be able to plug it into my pmr radio, iphone, and possibly airband in the future so i recon that the micro avionics pm-100 is best suited for the job ??? and it should fit into my helmet as it has the peltor attachment points and I believe micro avionics are peltor based? So the reason for the post is to try and establish if the headset will work with the cheap pmr radio before I spend a wad of cash Any advice muchly appreciated Tom
  10. WANTED: Micro avionics ul100 headset Pm me if you have one you want to get rid of Tom
  11. Sorry to hear about your travel nightmare Alan! Hopefully you will be able to travel tomorrow ? although they have just cancelled all flights till 07:00 tomorrow (monday) Tom
  12. It's on sale for £6.99 Would be good if you could get the airspace data on an app
  13. Bloody hell that's expensive ram
  14. I got a bakrak but decided against using it for two reasons... 1, Quite frankly it looked ridiculous attached to the back of my Audi a3 (I think Audi skycar were some of the comments ) 2, The harness on my Parajet is not easy to remove so would have to leave it on along with the reserve and the idea of getting 500 quids worth of reserve wet or covered in road crap really put me off. I just take it all to bits and put it in the back of the car now, this is also not a great solution but does give me a good chance to inspect the kit. Tom
  15. It might me ok... but if it's not is it really worth the risk? Wait for your revo would be my advice you will enjoy it more when you know that your kit is in tip to condition. Not what you wanted to hear i'm sure, I remember what it was like waiting for my kit to arrive! Tom
  16. Weather is looking outstanding this weekend Anyone making plans? Tom
  17. I gave up trying to get mine to anything useful with maps, tried getting the air map on to it but either I'm too stupid to do it or it doesn't work I just use it for speed, sink/climb and altitude now. For maps I use motion x on the iPhone and have a case with Velcro epoxyed to the back. Tom
  18. I have the two blade prop, not sure if they would fit the 3 blade. Tom
  19. http://www.pap-paramotors.co.uk/index.php?catID=13&mod=content Quite a good guide. Tom
  20. I don't think failure under normal operating stresses is an issue as the loads involved are split across 6 mounts. (as long as they are in good condition*) The issue is making sure they get inspected regularly (before every flight) this is not a problem for me as I have to break my motor down to fit in the car so I can inspect them then. Not scientific I know Tom
  21. Adrian, I got my wing second hand (revo 28) for a grand from ebay. good second hand kit is out there and within that budget. Just make sure you get someone who knows what there looking at to have a look before you buy (assuming you don't ) or ensure it gets inspected first. Tom
  22. Have ordered 12 of these today direct from gmt, only need six but the postage was a flat £9 so seemed worth getting two lots The part number is B30/15M820 68 M8x8 these were the highest load rated ones I could find. I was giving my motor a once over yesterday while watching the rain out the window I had forgotten about the mounts and two of them were ready to fail one of my exhaust brackets had split in half aswell just goes to show the importance of regular inspection off ALL parts Tom
  23. Im sure us Oxfordshire lot could help if your route came this was
