  1. I have a PAP1250 frame witha M25Y Black Devil Corsair engine in. Not sure how I can help as it came from PAP already built. Happy to send pictures if it helps. regards Eddie
  2. Hi Neil I agree with Alan on the 60CSX. We were going to go through it at the Essex fly-in but somehow we didn't get to go through it. It does everything you need and more. Eddie
  3. 8 minutes to set up, must be a record for you More importantly why wasn't I invited? See you soon Eddie ps. Shabbington will be okay next week.
  4. Count me in depending on the date of course. Eddie
  5. A few more pictures of a great weekend including one of Neil and Paul. And a picture I took on Saturday night with 10 Paramotors in the air (there were more in the air but couldn't get them in)! Can anybody beat that ? Eddie
  6. That is because only sad muppets are on facebook, doesn't work for me neither

See you there Clive. We might need something to do judging by the forecast

    Garmin 60csx

Not sure about the others but the 60csx does everything that I want it to and I use it with memory-map so I can put routes on for XC flights or download tracks at the end of the day. Will be at the Essex fly in if you want to have a play, are you going? regards Eddie

The Garmin will give you your maximum speed and average speed, does it match the leonardo information? I am not sure if it is the Garmin or Leonardo that is giving the false speed reading. Eddie

Press the 'find' button and hold it for a couple of seconds and it will ask you if you want to set the man overboard. Eddie

I fly a PAP1250 and I allow 1 hour flying for 5 litres of fuel which gives me a decent reserve. If you reset the Garmin and set the 'man overboard' setting (hold down the 'find button for a couple of seconds) you will always know where the field is, in which direction and how far away, you can then use your ground speed to work out how long it will take to get back. If I am flying from a field and returning to the same field I use the 'man overboard, setting before I take off and then the compass becomes a direction indicator. I have speed, altitude, time elapsed, distance to destination, time set, that way I always know how much fuel I am using and if I can get back to the field (and what direction it is in). If I am doing x/country I just set it to the destination reference. Eddie
  13. Dennis Why not come to our fly-in in Essex later in the month and you will find out all you need to know. Other than that, as Slim said, pop down to Membury and see Simon and Pete (ring first). It is a great sport and I am sure you will love it. regards Eddie
  14. Same thing in the skydiving world Simon. You have to be a member of the BPA and be under training to do a tandem or static line jump so they issue weekend memberships. There is always a way to 'use' the rules. Eddie
  15. Darragh In skydiving we use a lot of camera mounts and I use a Cameye for remote switching and indication. Have a look at this website for some ideas. http://www.paragear.com/templates/parac ... 55&level=1 regards Eddie
  16. Dave I am hoping to be there, possibly on the Friday if the weather is okay. When are you going up? You are always welcome to borrow my PAP to have a fly on a 'bend it/mend it' rule, I will even start it for you! Eddie
  17. I am not sure if the fact that I come from the skydiving fraternity gives me a different outlook but I just wanted to fly and paramotoring is a great (and cheap) way to do it. I have never had the slightest inclination to try paragliding as it seems to be very restricting and a totally different sport, whereas with a paramotor I can pick and choose (within reason) where I fly to, and from. Also, in 'less restricting' weather conditions. Probably also the reason that I trained with paramotorists and not the BHPA. Eddie
  18. Hi Wendy Trying to plan my work schedule for the rest of the month and have your fly-in penciled in! Can you confirm it is still going ahead and do you have any other info yet. cheers Eddie
  19. Hi Dan I use a Gin flight deck which I can clip in front of me or on one side. I have a right hand throttle but on the PAP the throttle is quite thin and 'basic' so doesn't seem to get in the way too much. With regards to the viewfinder I have a helmet that gives me room to look through it. It is a bit cumbersome but when you have finished taking lots of cool pictures you can put it out of the way and enjoy the flight. I have seen someone put a full size SLR into the front of their flight suit and do it up over the top for take off and landing!. Sometimes, too much is made of things that there is a simpler answer too (Electronic gadgets for fuel gauge instead of just using a mirror to look etc ) regards Eddie
  20. I use a Canon EOS 350 DSLR with a 35-300mm lens hand held. I put it in my flight deck and make sure that I put the neck strap on before taking it out or putting it away! Vibration doesn't seem to be a problem only the fact that I am not a great photographer
  21. Congratulations Colin, I guess that means you won't be flying over Easter Eddie
  22. Hi Dave Will be at Membury over the holidays, let me know when you are going down and we can meet up and have a chat. Eddie
  23. Hi Matt Don't know much about this supplier but check it out at £209. http://parashop.co.uk/paramotorpropellers.htm cheers Eddie
  24. Okay guys it has been to quiet on this site for too long. I know there are plenty of you flying in Oxfordshire as I have seen you! I saw someone chasing a balloon over Aylesbury last month, a couple of Paramotors regularly flying over wing and a couple of weeks ago someone flying near Stadhampton. We are not flying at Shabbington at the moment because of the crops which are not harvested until May so I am going to Membury at the moment and enjoying it. It would be great to get together with some more local pilots, even if only for a beer, so how about a 'show of hands' and I will arrange a get together. Hope to hear from some of you. regards Eddie
  25. Simon Hole in the piston can't be done by a 'hot plug', it is nearly always a too lean mixture caused by incorrect carb settings or a blown gasket/seal allowing too much air into the chamber. Hope it is not too expensive to sort out and you are back for the fly-in. Eddie
