  1. Touching cloudbase by Ian currer is a good one There are a few YouTube vids on theory that are very good but a bit more advanced, search Derbyshire soaring club
  2. BHPA also comes with £5m 3rd party insurance
  3. Only at certain BHPA schools teach paragliding first, mine teaches paramotor from day 1
  4. Hi Ben, PPG is certainly the cheapest form of powered flight and the most accessable, your weight isn't going to be an issue as long as the equipment is suitable, I've trained guys around that weight, where are you based? I run a BHPA school in Crewe Cheshire drop me a PM if you would like details Thanks Danny
  5. BHPA syllabus requires students to fly a minimum of 5 inner circuits and a minimum of 2 outer circuits, but these are perfect flights so if the student doesn't nail the take off or the landing then that doesn't count, so if you are a very competent student you can get away with the minimum but most have around 10 flights, my last 2 students in Spain had 14 and 12 flights, the later has then been with me back in the UK and completed 10 more but he still wants me to coach him further, everyone is different and no 2 students are the same, this is just a quick way to try and drum up a bit of business, although I've not been to many of the fly inns I believe there are several British trained pilot's that should not be out of a school let alone flying with a large group, there was a great video of a few doing lands end to John o grotes that I thought was a perfect example of this, yes they could fly but a few more days in a proper school wouldn't go a moss, As I have said you can't tarnish every school with the same brush, when my students leave the Italy school they then join the UK school to build up the hrs, I am lucky I am able to run the 2 schools or maybe the students are lucky they have this option either way everyone is satisfied.
  6. Niviuk Qubik is an amazing wing to progress with
  7. Well I can say running a school in Italy for 10 days a month and a UK school for the rest of the days in that month has a major benefit to my students, not only do they get fantastic weather whilst in southern Italy but when they get back the can continue with their progression, Being stuck in the UK has its downside also, the amount of pilot's I see who have supposedly qualified but lack the basic skills, maybe this is the instructor rushing them through the suitable weather we have or the student pushing the instructor either way it's not only the Spanish schools that have problems, I am however trying to solve the issues at hand Danny
  8. Yes, just specify when ordering, if you send an email flypapuk@gmail.com , state size and style Thanks Danny
  9. One of my Tinox Atom's is 19.4kg with apco split leg harness, the other is 21.3kg with the supair harness, The new supair has a pivot on the seat so it's easier to get in to
  10. Pap all day long, easier to assemble, slightly lighter, cheap netting if it breaks, stronger main chassis for butt landings, great back up service from the UK main dealer Your welcome to try before you buy Danny
  11. I agree, that's why I offer extra training in this country upon return
  12. I don't know of any Paramotor wing that is certified for powered flight, but that doesn't mean they are not safe, Ozone say on all of their wings ' because the gliders are shipped with trimmers on the risers they do not conform to EN standards. It is in the manufacturers best interest to make the gliders as safe as possible and the Link is rock solid.
  13. My school 19 and 20 are running flawlessly, but I have seen the problem and it was definitely air related ( bubbles in the fuel line )
  14. Kyle o gee just did a video of this, check out YouTube, it was sucking in air in the fuel line
  15. I train to suit the students needs, not everyone can commit to a block, I have 2 weekend slots available, if you fancy a chat give me a ring
  16. Instead of a used old wing have a look at the BGD seed, great for stronger conditions too https://flypap.co.uk/product/bgd-seed-ground-training-wing/
  17. Just a quick heads up, FlyPap are now running BHPA training courses once a month in southern Spain, this ensures that you get the best of both worlds, unlimited training in the UK followed by a week in Spain and more training in the UK if needed, this guarantees you come away with your CP rating, we also offer Post CP courses up to Pilot rating for those who feel they are not quite ready or thought they were rushed through training More details can be found here www.flypap.co.uk
  18. Loads of aircraft don't have anything between you and the prop, treat it with respect and it will serve you well, Regarding different designs, it's all about reducing drag, the cris cross style like the tinox and Mcfly are a lot more efficient and stronger than the square net type
  19. It is there to stop objects going in to the prop area, There are loads of issues with people putting their hand in the prop but not when they are facing the right way, if the throttle cable is a good design and routed properly then it can't go in through the netting, I can't remember the last time I heard of a brake handle in the prop,
  20. What do you think the netting is for ? If you think it is there to protect you from the prop then you are wrong, when the engine is running you should be facing the other way so unless you are a contortionist any type of netting does it's job
  21. I would say go and have a look at a few different manufacturers, you may find yourself swapping one fiddly machine for another, there are a lot more simpler designs out there that are built for this sort of thing, Personally I wouldn't say the build quality of the mav is anything to write home about, one of my pet hates is they made a pretty machine but forgot to incorporate the throttle cable so they just zip tied it on, The nitro has definitely got a strange powerband, the moster is really smooth My vote would be a PAP tinox moster, lighter than the mav and better build quality than the mav .
  22. Hi, In stronger winds the trims should be set to neutral, has the wing had a service as you could have an issue with line shrinkage, You certainly shouldn't have to open trims out Many thanks Danny FLYPAP
  23. Hi Paul Training at the cumbia site is either when its not trainable at Crewe or if I have students up that way at the time, Have a look at the website for details www.flypap.co.uk Thanks Danny
  24. Hi guys, I run a BHPA paramotor school in Cheshire but I also train in Kirkby in Furness Cumbria, let me know if you want some information Cheers Danny
