    Fly in

Hi Trev. I'm sure it will go great. Sorry I cant make it, I will be in Prague working. Say hi to the lads. Mikey
  2. Hi Pete. Nice one. Do you have a flying site in Gloustershire? Also what part of Gloucestershire are you training in? And will you train in more advanced techniques? Cheers Mike
  3. Hi, Just wanted to say thankyou to Pete for letting me try his Fusion 26 for a test flight. I found I was being very heavy handed with the wing compared to my Dudek Re-action. It is very light and needs a gentle touch. Once in the air it was a dream. Handling at neutral seemed safe and light but not to light. For really tight turns, pull the trimmers all the way in I guess, but I did not try this. I did let the trimmers all the way out and was travelling down wind at 49mph with no speed bar (wow). Thats the fastest ground speed I have ever seen. It was bumpy up there, but it felt safe and solid all the time. So time to land. I pulled the trimmers in to the slow side of neutral and lined up. At about 20ft, killed the motor, held the brakes just slightly in, to feel the wing and slowly bled the speed off at 4ft. She stayed at 4 ft and just slowed down to about 2mph, even at this speed there was some energy left and I think I took one step forward and landed. It has to be the best landing wing I have ever flown. I loved it. You really get a lot of information and great control from the brakes on landing. Well, thats my thoughts on the Fusion from a newbie, who has just reached the correct number of hours to consider it as my next upgrade. So thanks again to Pete and Simon for the help with my poor over powerfull reverse launchings and a great day was had by all. Cheers Mikey
  4. Hi Simon, its a bit late to ask, but is it Ok if I come and see you at the Flag Pole in the morning? Re- Fusion? Cheers Mikey..
  5. Hi, Sorry you lost the tips of your props when you fell over. Does anyone else think its weird how many of us accept this. Surely a minor fall whilst the props are turning should not allow the prop tips to touch the cage or ground? Why are they designed to allow this? I know some motors like the Flat top and the all Titanium models from Custom Air dont brake props if you fall over? Just a thought..... Mikey
  6. Ah a subject I know a little about! Db meters have different weighting C or A most common. C looks at all frequencies and A looks at what our ears are more sensitive to. Hi frequencies drop off faster with distance. You will have to be exactley the same distance at each take off or unfair. Not all paramotors need full revs for take off so how do you judge max rev noise? Measure max revs on the ground? Sound travels further in different temps, humidities and altitudes. Noise travels further with the wind. Db meter should be placed in the same orientation to the take off and wind direction. Walls and bulidings will refect sound making some frequencies louder and having a cancelling effect on others. And finally sound is subjective. Each one of us finds different frequencies more offensive than others. Babies cry at a particular frequency not by chance! Even though 2 paramotors may meter the same, the one with the higher pitch will appear to be more noisy. (back to the babies crying). Still take it all with a pinch of salt and the tests will give us an idea. Mikey
  7. Hi Simon. In the big new Forum shake up, could there be an option for "View posts in the last 24 hours". I sometime log on and look using "View posts since last visit". But sometimes I dont have time to read everything and the next time I log on they have all gone? What do you think? Cheers Mikey
  8. In the interests of safety and pointing out the obvious, dont forget NOT to use the speed bar in slow trim on the Fusion. Most PG pilots will use the speed bar automatically when the wind picks up on a hill and need to penetrate off the hill. Only use the trims until at the point the risers say it is OK to use speed bar. Cheers Fly Speed bar safe! Mikey
  9. Try Mark Dann at beyonde Extreme. He is a Sol dealer and trains Paragliding and Paramotor Pilots. http://www.beyondextreme.co.uk/forum/list.php?f=2 Cheers Mike
  10. Cheers Malcs. I will see you tommorow then. Mike
  11. Hey Malcs, I CAN make tuesday if the weather holds. Thanks for letting me fly there SW. Cheers Mike
  12. Hi all Damn cant make it Monday (nearly forgot Wifes Birthday) Ouch. Will try again soon sorry Mike
  13. I would like to join you if its OK with SW? Cheers Mike
  14. Hi, its something to do with the change of Centre of Gravity. Basically the C of G is moved forward in reflex mode, so the A's and B's are more loaded, this gives great stability and putting on the speed bar gives max speed and reflex effect. In fully un-reflex (trimmers pulled in) slowest setting, the C of G is moved back toward the middle of the wing and putting the speed bar on then might cause a loss of pressure at the leading edge. On the Trimmers, there is a green area and a red area marked. Just never use the speed bar in the red area and all is good. This is from Serge of Paramania. He is French and some things may have been lost in the conversation, but someone more technically advance in this area might be able to answer more fully, if you need to know more. If you go to the Paramania web site, www.flyparamania.com and download the Action GT manual, there on page 29 of the .pdf manual is the diagrams showing what happens. The fusion manual should be out by the end of next week if it all goes to plan! Cheers Mikey
  15. Actually I contacted Paramania and they said you could reach the trimmers without putting on brakes no problem! So Cool. Mikey
  16. Hi Simon thanks for the quick reply. You didn't answer the question though, can you reach the trimmers whilst keeping the brakes in your hand and not putting any brake on? Cheers Mikey
  17. Correct me if I am wrong, but the fusion makes a great Paragliding wing, BUT during normal paragliding with everyone esle on the hill you would need to be at slowest trim. This gives the slowest speed and most lift, Correct? If so and the wind picks up and everyone puts on there speed bar and lands, what will the Fusion Pilot do? He cant use speed bar on slow, right? (Maybe let the trimmers out? This is OK, but on fully slow trim setting, you should be flying the wing actively if there is no reflex? Then the last thing you should do, is let go of the brakes to let the trimmers out. Or can you reach the trimmers without letting go of the brakes on a fusion?) I understand the Wing is a fantatic power wing with great hill potential, but I wondered about the speed bar thing? I tried to look for an answer in the Fusion Manual, but I cant find a manual for it?????? Cheers Mikey
  18. I also have a Hill wing a Advance Epsilon 5. I dont know if the Gin is the same but fitting Paramotor risers with trimmers to my wing, hardly made any difference to the top speed. A few MPH. There also seemed to be some confusion if it is OK to use the trimmers on fast and the speed bar? Collapses could be more liable? Any-ways I think it will never keep up with the Reflex wings. Just my thoughts. Mikey
  19. Hi Simon. Glad to see you back. The Club membership looks like a great idea to me. I will contact you soon to join. Cheers Mikey
  20. Just looked in the Manual and the compression ratio is 11:1 Mikey
  21. Hi Marko, I was told by the Manufactuer of my ParaMotor, which has a JPX Italia Corsair M25Y Black Devil 172.5cc 2-stroke (wow thats a mouthful) to use Super Unleaded, as it gives a bit more power at the high end. I have been running it that way since new. This is also now confirmed by the UK importer (ConAir Sports Ltd) and is also in the manual. Cheers Mikey
  22. Thanks for the posts guys. I would like to bring in a side subject to all this. If another Organization comes to fruit (good thing since the BMAA dropped PPG) then could this Organisation be Pro active in getting Trikes or Quads de-regulated as in the USA. Many of us are getting older and the knees will start failing. Going down the micro-lite traing scheme is both very expensive. And I believe, hardly any training organisations in the UK has Trikes and Paragliders to train with that we could easily apply ourselves too. Various people (un-named) have shown dis-interest in this course. We will all be old one day and getting this sorted now will pay dividends as we mature. So what are the de-reg thoughts on this? Cheers Mikey
  23. There is a lot of interest in engine in the USA. http://www.angellabsllc.com/ If it works we could have 100hp engine that weighs only 4 or 5 kilos? Mikey
  24. There was a discussion on here some time ago about on-risk insurance. They may not insure any paramotors that have been modified from there original manufacture. As you say, may be best to check with your insurance before making any modifications. Fly safe and insured. Mikey.
  25. Hi Guys. This is just a question, dont want to be a wet squid here, but if you modify your Paramotor with a new Fuel Tank, does that mean your insurance may not pay out, as it is not now "as manufactured and delivered"? The fuel limit may be removed, but Insurance regulations may still apply with regard to non manufaturer modifications? Just a thought. Mikey
