  1. I know 4 others here that fly with the Dickies suit.
  2. Dickies padded waterproof overalls: super tough, insulated, windproof, loads of pockets, £50.
  3. We sure have an image with the rest of the aviation community and it's usually bad in my experience. I have registered and unregistered wings and I do fly differently with a registration to a certain extent. Because we fly from so many non-airfield locations and because our machines are slow and we tend to fly low we will attract reports and complaints even without breaking any rules. Use the App.
  4. Ben, as discussed on pm it was more of a problem because the scheduled stuff was trying to shoot instrument approaches at the time. Thanks for being honest about your thought process and I've passed the message on to the guys at Skybus as we discussed. Ad Use the App.
  5. Quite - it also says it's SFC to 4000' The purpose of the corridor is to make it very clear that it is a major pain in the arse for the commercial operators and ATC if private aircraft go to the Scillies without telling anyone. Just one phonecall would have saved any bother and prevented another big chunk of the aviation community thinking that paramotorists are tossers. I have been trying to organise a proper trip to the Scillies and tour around the islands but I may have just lost a bunch of support. Jeez you were on the right web page with the Lands End ATC phone number on it..... Use the App.
  6. Because the Lands End Transit corridor is from the surface to 4000'. Use the App.
  7. Funnily enough.... I got a call on Saturday from one of the pilots at Skybus asking if I knew who was flying a paramotor to the scillies right through the transit corridor without ATC permisssion... . It's one of the busiest air routes in the country. Can you explain?
  8. Hope Nick never has a real accident. What a cock.
  9. So a bunch of professionals do their job trying to help a potentially injured flyer in a very calm and professional manner and you take the piss....
  10. Multibag/stuffsack and a v nice rucksack, manual on USB, speedbar, repair kit, spare lines and a tub of Paramania magic...
  11. My mistake - the SR10 adapter has its own PTT button as well as a socket for a seperate one, so no need to use the radios built-in one. It will work just like a MA headset PTT.
  12. Sidetone has defenitely made the Sena setup much better as you suggest. You can still use PMR, airband or any other radio with Sena as they sell a bluetooth module that connects to the radio, so the helmet remains wireless and you use the PTT on the radio itself.
  13. I dont think it would be worth trying to patch in to the microavionics gear as the impedences are unlikely to match etc. You will probably be able to fit the Sena speakers along with the MA speakers in the earcans and you get an optional wire only mic that could be used on the MA boom. But yes that does miss the point really as the best thing about Sena is having a lightweight, wireless helmet. Probably best to start afresh and keep/sell the MA.
  14. Control unit goes on the outside of the helmet, speakers and battery in earcups and mike book superglued to ear can.
  15. Pat, sorry for the delay. A bunch of us use the Sena SMH10r (the r denotes the slimline version with seperate battery) installed in a variety of helmets (which doesnt neccesarily need any mod to the helmet. Bluetooth gives a good 500m range with up to 4 peple in live chat. It pairs with s bluetooth phone to give you very clear phonecalls for longer ranges and very good audio if your phone does tunes .
  16. Hmm, not actually sure that PMR is legal for airborne use in the UK FAT. And of course you need an RT licence to use airband legally and then there's still a bit of a question over whether a handheld airband is an approved radio installation... Probably better to go with PMR since its a fraction of the power of airband and so less likely to cause 'bother' and if there is 'bother' then its not a safety critical system as used by others as such. Anyone know if 2m is actually legal for airborne use? We're having a lot of joy with Sena bluetooth - peer to peer and via phone for long range ...
  17. He's talking about the FPV exemption I suspect; only applies if you have a safety pilit who is 'eyes-on'.
  18. The 400' rule only extends to UAV's used for surveillance or commercial operations so technically you can fly one higher if you can keep it in sight. Of course the whole point of keeping it in sight is to be able to avoid other aircraft. There is a growing issue here with complete muppets buying this kit. Running away is very sensible in that situation.
  19. 6 pages in Pilot this month with a positive message about the sport.
