  1. I wish it was that simple! I blame the winter weather. It was rubbish from october to january so i didnt use it for a good 4 months. I have drained the fuel and put fresh but i have had issues ever since leaving it that long. Even with the spark plug in the new starter motor turns the engine over continous if you do not release the button (similar to when the spark plug is removed) . It never used to do this, every press of the starter button used to turn it over just the once then disengage so i take it something is not normal. Will keep taking bits off it and if i totally give up it could be a trip to parajet with it.
  2. And I forgot to say its a lipo battery and recently had a new starter motor.
  3. Right, another hours tinkering and I'm getting somewhere now. The spark thing was just my bad eyesight outside. Its still sparking with the prop on. I have somehow lost compression perhaps ? With the prop off the engine starts and runs still, but with the prop on the extra resistance is not letting it run. The starter seems to turn the engine over faster and it will not start still ( with prop on) I have taken off the head and the piston seems fine and the bore is nice and smooth. Put a compression tester on the head and its pushing out 120psi both with the prop on and with it off. Not sure what to check next though. Perhaps a call to Parajet is in order!
  4. Anybody know what the compression should be like on one of these engines? Im borrowing a tester this week but no idea what it should be within. Seems quite a bit of resistance on it if you try and spin the prop by hand....
  5. Hiya, hope this is the right place, i have a problem with my Parajet Volutioin with the XT engine on, im wondering if anyone can help. When its stripped down it starts instantly and runs fine, When I put the prop on and it wont run at all... Narrowed this down to it not sparking at all when the prop is on. I cant really figure this out as it shouldn't make much difference at all.... but it does. It also took me all day to figure this out, with several trips to and from the field to workshop, it not running in the field, taking it back, putting it on the bench and it sparking and running fine, then returning to the field, putting the cage and prop back on and it not starting. Would the extra load be making it not spark ? Just wondering if this have ever happened to anyone before ...... And suggestions what to try next appreciated....
  6. Sounds good! i know they have the right to roam but i think that excludes motorised sports..?! I can think of a few places that could be ok... have to wait and see. I have never flown around mountains yet so it could be interesting...! i know i need really good weather but im hoping to be around for a week so should get a day or two if im lucky. Been there quite a few times around April/Easter time and seen some fantastic weather there that time of year. Have some great photos of the area even the top of Ben Nevis without a cloud in sight! Have to see what happens.
  7. Hiya all, I'm hoping to get up to Fort William and beyond over the Christmas period and am thinking of taking the paramotor along. Just wondering if anyone on here has already been up there and can recommend any place to fly around, especially launch sites? I quite fancied a blast around Ben Nevis if the weather allows. I guess I better wrap up warm. Any other advice appeciated and if anyone else fancies it give me a shout.
  8. It's only an ozone spark, I haven't even set up the speedbar on it yet as I have only been flying a year . According to my very hitec GPS I was doing 26-28mph with a very light breeze to the side of me . I speeded up some parts of the footage to make it look a bit more exciting although the landing clip was in real time! It took 50 minutes to get from lands end to st Martins, with another 40 minutes flying around the islands. I had figured the longer we talked about it and the more experienced I got, the less likely I was to give it a go so we just went for it. I quite fancy a blast across the channel next if anyone's keen.
  9. Cheers it all went well, the flight over was lovely and smooth, some nice low flying above my mates boat who was only a couple of miles an hour slower. Every now and then i would get too far ahead so would do a circle to let him catch up... quite scary not being able to see land in any direction! i think i lost sight of lands end about 8 miles in. My landing was not very good, the beach i had chosen on St Martins was giving off lots of thermal, when i switched off the engine it picked me up a bit then it felt like i fell out the sky. luckily the sand was soft but i still got wet feet ! I have made a video, if anyones interested enough go on youtube and search for " paramotor scillies" , its the only one on there!
  10. I really didn't think it would be a problem if I just went out and blasted across nice and low. I guess I got that wrong then.
  11. I read this beforehand : http://www.landsendairport.co.uk/flyscilly.asp Notice point 3 on the lands end corridor section it says it is not controlled airspace.
  12. I stayed under 500 ft the entire way and went well north of st Mary's and landed on St Martins, so why would this be a problem?
  13. Yes that's the one. It also has fantastic calm days like the weekend just gone.
  14. Hi all, just wondering if anyone has ever flown from Lands end out to the Isles of Scillies with a Paramotor? I have never heard of anyone attempting this. Was hoping to be the first. It's a long way over water... 26miles land to land! Ben
