  1. The specs of the GoPro 2 look better than the original, but I've never seen any video from one to compare. My 960 looks plenty good enough for what I want (in fact I still can't believe something so small produces such good footage) & I don't particularly miss the ability to add a screen or extra battery - you soon learn where to point it & 2 1/2 hours record is plenty! I certainly have no desire to upgrade mine yet. The computer bit is easier. Mac, no question. My 3 year old macbook has no problems editing my footage. I use MPEG Streamclip to trim & convert the video from the camera then import into iMovie (11) for editing.
  2. Clive, Could you post the link for the poles please. Having kicked my first pole at the Cheshire fly in I'm now hooked! Thanks
  3. I'm just down the road (Brookwood) & am always up for a quick flight. There is Barry's field just up the road, which is a safe option in addition to other local fields.
  4. Glad it's on! I'll be coming from Lichfield & can squeeze in another passenger if anyone wants a lift. Mark if you're after a nice BMW give me a shout!
  5. Small world. My Mrs was on the phone to say she was leaving to visit me & to to let me know she was watching someone flying. Must have been the same person (her description was the same as yours). What makes it worse is that I had all my kit in the car but nowhere to fly from. Gutted Still next week looking good!
  6. I was alwas taught to bring to motor up to full power for 20-30 seconds. This creates airflow & also ensures your motor can make full power (better to find out it can't whilst still on the ground). Arms out straight to the sides & lines tight (to prevent any chance of them being sucked into prop - as already stated) Come off power, commit, run, move under the center of the wing (by feeling what it's doing), nail the power & run as hard as you can. The only thing I found that works differently for me is that the tips on my Synth sometimes seem a bit reluctant to inflate. I got aorund this by laying my wing out straight (not in a horseshoe), it's working well so far. Synths also seem to need a fair bit of pressure on the A's, otherwise they can hang back a fair bit.
  7. You could try Clive Bunce (Google Bulldog Paramotors) if you're down south? If not he has a list of dealers on his website, one of those may also be able to help. I would imagine they would be in the £200 - £300 region.
  8. I was thinking of something more amusing, but what about active? I'm sure someone else will come up with something better soon though...
  9. I think I arrived just as you were getting airbourne, assuming you were using the yellow wing? Loads of people there & a couple of cheeky flights made the (unplanned) trip well worth it!
  10. Weather looks to be coming good for the weekend & I now have a Paramotor. Has anyone finalised any plans where the flying is happening yet??
  11. Engine? Am I looking in the wrong place or something?
  12. Carl, I'm only here temporarily - got about 2 months left but you're more than welcome to fly from here whilst I'm Still here. Let me know your number & we'll have a chat.
  13. Chris, I have two sites I can use ( dependant on wind direction ). One is public & one is private land. I haven't flown either yet, but I will be from next week. I'm next to Whittington golf course.
  14. Chris, I can't help much with the training question but I'm in Lichfield & am happy to help with the million other questions if that's any use?
  15. I should be reunited with my motor on Friday (I'm also back in Surrey for the weekend) & would love to get back in the air. However I may have to be a bit gentle until it's run in again so an XC might not be the best idea, but if anyone is staying local & is happy for me to tag along then I'm keen.

    Flying suit

Outkast if you landed near my & pulled that pose I would struggle to resist you! Dan I managed to blag an Icaro Top Gun flying suit from Skyads. Just checked the price on their website mine was a bargain! However if you want a really good suit I can highly recommend it! I am similar build to you & am a large.
  17. Jim, Count me in (depending on dates). Have never been gliding & the chance of trying another type of flying would be great. Phil
  18. I'll make a couple of calls tomorrow, when I get back to work. I won't make any promises, but I may be able to help.
  19. Amazing photo's, especially with the snow. Would love to fly over Snowdon one day...
  20. I'm about 20 minutes away - a new site (and more flying mates) in the area would be great!
  21. Well as I am temporarily grounded I have had a bit of time to put together a collection of my best Paramotoring moments to date from my huuuuuggge Paramotoring career of 8 months!! [vimeo] [/vimeo]
  22. Also happy to help (but plan to be flying too)...
  23. Yeah, good video, brings back some good memories. That had to rank up there with the most unusual/surreal way to meet someone!! Bring on the good weather for plenty more good flying this year...
  24. I've just seen the bit where it must be pink. Did you realise it's called a thruster.... PINK THRUSTER. I love it, please buy a pink thruster & let us know how things go!!
  25. Steve, Invite her along the next time you fly. if it scares her as much as it scared me it'll be job done! Sorry, couldn't resist. He he Good program though - downloading it myself now (watched it t'other day too but thought it was worth keeping). How you doing these days. Not seen you for ages.
