  1. Hi Gabriel, Although 'with a parent present' we can teach a 14-year old how to become a ground handling king, he /she will not legally be able to fly until 16 yrs old. France however, has a different set of rules which I think allows for people under 16 to fly solo. Sorry if its not the news you wanted. SW
  2. This post was not about 'loss of control' this post was about what a heli pilot 'can't ' see while in cloud. 'It's to show that they can not see you!! SW
  3. I need a bigger shouting machine for next time then LOL SW
  4. Love the shot of your wife in the above video @alan_k !!! SW
  5. Let's have a chat over a beer before the next one SW
  6. Thanks for all suggestions which can help to better the awesomeness You are clearly coming from a 'large event' background... (this is more of a small club / friendly event) it's not aimed at attracting the public and or new people to be honest. It's an annual 'club' party for the Paramotor Club members. I think as Steve mentions above, what you attended is a very normal approach to things in our sport.... The main reason for not pre printing information about event 'content' is because 2mph in the weather can change EVERYTHING and it was not until the day that the we knew if they were coming or not. (as it the nature of aviation) Ref the bar: £1000 went in an hour, according to the very experienced bar owner, for 200 people this should have lasted closer to 4 hours!! (this is also based on previous sales at past events) so WELL DONE EVERYONE FOR THAT!!! LOLOL I think we may have broken some sort of record there!! lol Can't wait for the next one now! SW
  7. Amazing natural light! Great to see you again dude SW
  8. The Zenith is stronger but heavier and comes with a larger range of engines. The Maverick with the EOS booster engine is 19KG harness and prop fitted. SW
  9. Zenith or Maverick for me ( Of course LOL ) I do think that the Maverick is a great balance of power, weight and strength SW
  10. So I just had a call from the guys at at the CAA (for more information about the Summer Fly-in NOTAM that I have submitted) Once that conversation was out of the way I asked if there was any news on the 'glider pilot' Duxford event.... I can confirm that it was indeed not a Paramotor. It also sounds as though they have an idea who they are looking for. SW
  11. This is what it looks like from the inside of a helicopter when 50 - 100ft into cloud. I have seen a few pics and videos around on the tinternet where people are fly into or around the edge of cloud. This should help you to understand why it's a) illegal and b) stupid. SW
  12. Ahhhh, I see what you mean When you click on the actual map... not sure why that is, but its the same road in so all good To confirm to all though RG20 7JH is the closest postcode. SW
  13. RG20 7JH is the closest postcode. there will be signs from that postcode to the fly-in. I am not sure where you got the 8TP from??? SW
  14. That's cool. I sent a couple of Map pics to @simonC58 so he has a visual of the airspace in relation to his house. SW
  15. RunwayHD is awesome! Use discount code PARAMOTORCLUB when buying the maps for a 20% discount SW
  16. In this case a radio would have only helped when it was too late already. It is very important that people check NOTAM's pre flight EVERY TIME. This time of year NOTAMS are all over the place!!! airshow season, transiting red arrows, BOB displays and transiting.... You should all be thinking of the sky as Shark infested water!!! And someone has taken the time out to tell you exactly where and when those sharks are so you can avoid them!! Had this of been any one of a number of Royal flights, the Paramotor (it seems) pilot would have people wearing black stuff pointing bang bang sticks in his or her general direction the instant they landed. STAY ALERT AND STAY ALIVE! http://notaminfo.com/ukmap is a link that takes you to a FREE map which displays NOTAMS. SW
  17. This is not at all cool I think it would be the right thing to do for the person who this was to go and talk to Duxford and fess up! At about 12 mins, you can hear the Read Arrows bombing out to leave Airspace due to a Paramotor being in the NOTAM area. SW
  18. Hi Eddie, As a BHPA CP Pilot, you will only be covered for 3rd party to Paraglide. For your insurance to be valid with them to Paramotor, you will need to do a 'power rating' and your 'pilot rating' As it stand's I think CP pilots are insured to fly not more than 5-km away from an instructor. One has to be pilot rated for this. Also, as an existing BHPA paragliding pilot, the PMC system allows for you to get our insurance immediately. Although we do like to 'assess' a little first, as we have found many, in fact most of the CP pilots require a couple of days to find a happy place and feel confident. Another point to note: There is no legal requirement for you to be insured (assuming foot launching) but it is of course the sensible thing to do SW
  19. Brilliant as always I have known Gilo for many many years (at the birth of Parajet) and I learned stuff from the article!! lolol He is a dark horse when it comes to talking about his successes! lol SW
