  1. In this video i explain how i broke my first and only prop (so far) during training. Multiple factors were in cause but mainly bad decision and maybe a bit of bad luck.   2. Today i bought a new frame for my ros 125. It's a paratour 2001 sd frame that had a ros-100 but the crankshaft from that engine broke so the owner sold me the frame,seat,ros reduction gearbox, muffler, spare reed valves,spare clutch, spare propeller... for very cheap. My idea is to transfer my engine to this new frame because right now i feel like my cage is deformed and the prop is 18cm from the hoop causing it to snag lines when the wing comes up crooked. I already damaged 4-5 lines (only the sheating thank god). Plus the frame has moving high hangpoint instead of my currently fixed high hangpoint. Some people are happy with them but some others aren't... at least here in Qc where they are made As for myself i believe they are probably good machines that were improved alot in recent years but too expensive for me especially the Amaruk. I could import a pap tinox 185 for less. Also the fact that they don't list the price on their website always gave me a weird vibe. but that's my opinnion make sure to seek out many more
  4. I'm 120kg on a 120kg en-b equivalent wing. I don't feel too heavy. It just feels good so you should be right

  7. Hi, I am currently looking for an easy traditionnal glider to practice reverse launches, kiting and other stuff too. A guy i know and who flys with me would sell me either one of those wings My all up weight is around 115-120kg depending on how much gas i have 1-Powerplay sting 160 weight range 95-160 kg line were replaced last year. asking 680 GBP ( 1200 cad) 2-Nervures estive 26m weight recommended 105kg to maximum 120kg. I did my trainning on that wing it was very easy and buffered wing. Asking 450GBP ( 800cad) which one would you choose and why? It's not about getting a modern glider it's about getting something cheap i can practice and get dirty without worrying too much about it. Both are in good condition.
  8. Confirmed with ITV that it is safe to use main brake through all of the trim range. Brakes will only be harder to pull
  9. Remember that people on the internet are more likely to post about issues than positive stuff about their gear. I was looking to buy my instructor ros 125. Old engine, heavy but quite powerful...but i only found negative feedback on the internet about this engine reliability.Yet, a pilot who flies regularly with our group has had his ros 125 for nine years before it needed a rebuild. So i bought the engine anyways, fixed what needed to be fixed and so far 25 hours without an engine out.(25 hours isn't much but still...) My take on engines is: if you take care of them by using good oil, good gas and doing proper maintenance/checking fluid and carb mixture regularly, you should be alright. Of course there are always duds sometimes
  10. you definitely should start training before looking to buy gear. You are going to know better what you want and most schools will let you try different gear. first wing choice is very important because a bad wing choice can make training/flying very hard or uncomfortable.
  11. main takeways are: when trying a new frame make sure you practice leaning into the trust, the angle and thrust may not be the same as your used to never stop running be gentle on the toggles and isolate your hands from the rest of your body ( don't use them for balance)
  12. This one is from october 2020 . First time flying my own machine, different geometry... need to lean into the thrust more. Be more gentle on the toggles too you can see the trailing edges moving alot as i almost trip and almost fall. this was my 31st takeoff

  14. Getting some foot drag practice going. Glad it warmed up, -12C when i left home but -5C when i got in the air. It was so much fun!! these flights make me want to fly even more even though i flew everyday this week and very tired. My friend flying a top 80 with a ITV boxer 2 almost blew his prop with his foot drag... He saved it nicely. Looking forward to fly with him again.
  15. I can't wait to fly in the summer without all that gear on. At least we can still fly normally we should already have 2-3 feet of snow on the ground this time of the year.

  17. i don't like the idea of screwing things into a plastic tank/frame. Looks like a bad idea to me. They seem to be sponsoring pilots to push their machine like many manufacturers do. I don't think you can really trust YouTubers review's for paramotors, many are sponsored and don't say it/denies it. Price gouging is another issue which this company doesn't seem to take part in which is a plus but you need to assemble the machine yourself. So far i am considering Macfly/pap/ locally made machine/kangook for my next frame. it is not normal for frames to cost 8 grand without the engine. I can get a locally made frame with the moster 185 for 8200 cad Parajet maverick with moster 185 12k$ air conception around the same Scout around the same kangook is 8500$ cad pap would cost under 9k to import I think the weight of the defiant is similar to the scout

  19. Yes it is frozen ground, it ain't too bad it's very sandy soil so normally water doesn't pool on the surface unless it's froze like this. We had a week below -15c without any snow on the ground so it must be frozen very deep. I can't wait for summer to be here, gonna get cold soon and we just got around 12 inches of snow so it's protecting the wing but it's harder to run in the snow. Just flew 45 min yesterday at -3C without my heated gloves

  21. Ok so there you go, starting this thread for people to follow my progression in this sport. I will post many videos and i think it'll be cool to see the progression i make. For those who don't know me ( most of the people in this forum). My name is Julien i am a Quebecer ( French speaking person from the province of Québec in Canada) and i took up this sport when i was in college at 19 years old in 2018 and did my first flight in september 2018 and my last training flight (my 30th) in september this year. So yeah it took me 2 years to complete the paramotor training that is required for my canadian ppg license. All that is because of my job on a big farm which doesn't have a schedule so i couldn't plan anything with my instructor not knowing if i would work that evening/morning. Right now i am studying agriculture in University. So since i got my license this fall i am flying every occasion i have and just did my 65th flight. I did my first 11 flights in training with a nervures estive ( 30m first 3 flights then 26m). After that i have only flown my 2019 ITV Billy 22.5m which was kind of a big step from the boaty estive but i want to dedicate a youtube video about that . All training flights were completed with a miniplane top 80 with a fixed high hangpoint Now i am flying a 2008 Ros 125 on a Airpro frame with high hangpoint fixed J-bar. So far i like the frame alot it has good geometry but i would like to move to a weight shift machine when i am better at taking off. I got this machine cheap from my instructor. It didn't run much since 2012 and will do for my first couple hundred flights. So now we are here: Took off yesterday into some nasty air, nailed the landing like always but i didn't like the experience in those gusts altough it was probably still safe.
  22. Hi, I recently had nothing better to do than to paint my engine exhaust. Following some recommendations from the paramotor facebook group, i decided to use VHT header paint for it's heat resistance. Pretty happy with the result and it only costed me around 20$ cad (like not even 15pounds). The hardest part of the whole project was to find my 6mm allen wrench and putting the springs back on
  23. it's a very good question i'd agree with Andy unless it's pristine condition maybe you could buy it 3/4 of the price?
  24. but it's lighter..It's coming down to a preference i believe. Everything has a tradeoff. I would have personnaly flown a top 80 but my all up weight is 120kg on a 80-120kg 22.5m wing which i had to be at full power to climb with the top80. Like what Andy said the wing and the engine are independent so at the end of the day its a preference you might want to consider local customer service and parts availlability
