  2. Thanks M8, I'll revisit them once my skills pick if I'm still having trouble. It's a bit early for me to be thinking parafest 2018, I've a bit on my plate down this way to cover me for 2018. I'm sure I'll get a good read about it here once it's done. Fly safe.....Cheers.
  3. Hi All, Well it's official, Forgotten Valley Paramotors Inc or FVPi is now registered. FVPi is a new club situated on the Hawkesbury river about 1 hour 10 North West from the Sydney CBD. The Airfield is accessible by land, air and sea. The property and airfield are surrounded by 3 kilometers of river frontage to the West and magnificent Hawkesbury River escarpment to the East. This is only a brief info release, as we are still in the throws of writing SOP's and finishing off Facebook pages and so on. The club itself should be fully operational mid to late March so this as an introduction as to whats on offer in the near future. The link will give you a few ideas of whats available as this is an existing airfield geared specifically as an aeronautical B&B http://www.themissions1937.com.au/ I should mention that the website is for the B&B side of things. If you wish to contact the club directly, Facebook is the best option. On the other hand, if your heading to Sydney and would just like a quite get away, feel free to contact Primrose via the missions 1937 link to make a reservation . I will be updating info with photo's as we go with some of the facilities hidden treasures over the coming weeks that are not on the site, such as the cinema for training that feature half a dozen or so 747 first class seats, back row of course, functioning. A large function hall for club meetings, campsite on the rivers edge, and for those wishing to do a bit of light reading, a comprehensive aeronautical library located in the tower entrance. Facebook ; https://www.facebook.com/Forgotten-Valley-Paramotors-Inc-150379329008592/ Meeting shed. Multi purpose Cinema. Thanks Mick.
  4. Hahaha, graphic warning please..
  5. Hi Tony, I completed training but waiting on my kit. The toggles were an after thought. What I neglected to mention in my original post was I am missing the first joint of my index finger on my left hand , press accident. A tip missing doesn't sound too bad, but it might as well be a whole finger when you try and combine a throttle, toggle and A's over the thumb, Then it gets interesting. I probably thought the finger toggle may assist, but after thinking it through as to why it MAY be a negative move potentially, I went against it. The rig I have coming is right/left throttle interchangeable, so I have the capability to go RH throttle if need be. But I'll just persist until it's second nature.. Sorry for the confusion. I am still curious however on your thoughts for the finger toggle. Another thought was, whilst under pressure, say going for you reserve with fingers in a small toggle. Big toggle easy release, bang, reserve out, small toggle not so easy maybe? I've not seen the toggle first hand, just thoughts. I'm actually ex Meat Bomb/skydiver as I've since been referred to by a few paramotorist's. Yes, I'm disappointed I didn't get into ppg 10 years ago instead of the other, but I'm doing something about that now.hahaha
  6. I thought about buying some the first time I saw them, probably because during my second training flight I let go of the toggles mid air. Ok, the toggle stopped at the netting but the magnet kept going and struck the prop. Scared the bejesus out of me, not the sound, but thinking of the potential seriousness of what just happened whilst fumbling for the toggle. As a novice, I plan to do mostly XC so a lot of the time as I imagine, you'll be passive flying. I figure if you need to get onto the toggles quickly and active fly due to a cravat, full frontal or just something nasty, then there's less to go for. I figure you have a better chance of getting at least a couple of fingers into a standard toggle, if need be, than a thumb and finger onto a small toggle or a fist for that matter.. Some thoughts would be much appreciated from those in the know however..... Curious, Thanks..
  7. One of the best video's I've seen to date. Great editing, great soundtrack. Thanks......
  8. No, the new site has only been flown once. It's all hush hush until I get the certificate or an email from the DFT. Then we'll release the details..
  9. Nice one. I'm about to release the details soon on a new club that's been under construction for the last month or so that should come in very handy for Sydney. I know I'm a novice but it was part of a greater plan, so once it did my course, I found an airfield, I then started ringing pilots pretty much from the phone book, gained interest and here we are. I lodged the relevant documents yesterday with the DFT, so as soon as it's rubber stamped we are going public.
  10. Awesome vision. Great read Steve, thanks...
  11. Hahahaha, sounds like you need a new model..
  12. Well the sparks already there. You just need to turn it into a flame....
  13. Mark, Have you tried introducing your missus to the sport? Maybe try finding the nearest club that is more family/wife active. Invite her along, you know, meet new people, make new friends, so on. You never know, she may enjoy it. Might even brake the ice on the old piggy bank.....

    Helmet Visor

Hi Andy, You should workshop with Tucker Gott. I believe he uses a modified Giro helmet, 10$ from Amazon. Just kidding..........
  15. Hands on, you and me both Ivan. Another selling point for me was the weight, 22kg dry with the Moster Plus. Fully fueled it comes in at around 33 /34kg give or take. The training rig I flew came in about that without fuel. I suppose your first purchase is always going to be a bit nerve racking, but I feel pretty confident on this one. Maybe after gaining some hours and meeting more flyers I may get a chance to fly other rigs. Until then, I can only give a one sided novices opinion when I start flying it in a couple of weeks, waiting on the wing. Anyway, time will tell......
  16. Hi All, I'm a very novice flyer with a fitter/machinist background, and over the last year I researched quite a few manufacturers from Scout through to Blackhawk and there's probably many I didn't even look into as I think I was going into Info Overload by the end. During my research I had overlooked Skymax on many occasions as I was more keen on a U.S, EU manufacture rig. Whilst doing my training, the eldest mentioned he would like to take up the sport, and as a he is a light weight and after talking to a guy with over 10 years experience flying, he suggested looking at the Skymax Expedition. Fortunately, Adrian from Backpack Airsports was heading past the next week with an Expedition, perfect... Well, aside from the standard marketing, light weight, stronger new fuel bag material etc that I had familiarized myself with from net over the week prior, I was Impressed. The machined components and finish were top notch, through to the stitching on the harness/straps etc. Sold yes, but not yet. What really sealed the deal, was Adrian's integrity as an importer, sales, service and stock of spares. So I went the Star, and if it proves to be the goods, the eldest can have it when ready and I'll take another for myself. As for the price point, maybe it's a case of breaking into a new market, maybe the big players are overpriced, not sure. Anyway, I will see, said the blind man to the deaf dog...... Dem Crazy Russians........

  18. Hi All, Great site you have going and most informative. I've just completed my course and I'm currently waiting on my wing and motor. I've gone for the Skymax Star coupled to the Vittorazi 185 Moster Plus , hung by the Dudek Universal 1.1. Can't smegging wait.... Hahaha, got a bit excited typing out the second line........ Anyway, that's about it from me, for now.
