    Sunset Flying

    A few photos with @cas_whitmore @graham23 and @AlexB1188
  2. I think I pay £40 a year for my RunwayHD subscription using the PARAMOTORCLUB discount code and it is totally worth it. Not only does it show you airspace, NOTAMS and other POIs, but the planning and navigation/waypoint function is priceless. Oh, and it logs all your flights in 3D GPS so you can view them on Google Earth. My only criticism is it’s only available on iOS. I have put an anti-glare filter on my iPhone 5S and it is daylight readable, but it would be amazing if you could get this app on a GPS-enabled Kobo eReader. In summary, I have tried most of the in-Flight apps out there and RunwayHD just does everything you need it to.
  3. I'd love to fly anywhere right now, but the bloody farmers keep ploughing their fields and planting crops. How dare they!!
  4. I just tuck it down the neck of my top. It's not going to get free.
  5. Quite the difference in size!
  6. Subscription information and details of packages here: http://users.airboxaero.com/Subscriptions.aspx Go to the website and create yourself a login there. Once you have a free account, go to the subscriptions page and buy a subscription using the discount code Simon has posted above. Then, once you download the app, sign in with your username/password and the app will activate all of the subscriptions you have purchased (at the cheaper online price, as opposed to an in-app purchase ).
  7. You need a data connection to download NOTAMS and to purchase/download charts. However, once this is done, you can effectively put your iPhone in ‘Flight Mode’ and it’ll still work using GPS. Note: You do need to pay for a GPS subscription, so you still need to connect it to a data connection to renew this.
  8. No problems. Quickest way to remove GPS data from an image taken on your phone is to take a screen-shot of it on your phone and then upload the screenshot. Good luck with the fields. ?
  9. @Gregwatson I would beware of uploading Google pins of your newly found field. The blogs on this site are open for anyone to view. Someone could easily see your posted pin as an open invitation to use the field and then turn up with the intent of doing some low 'pylon style' flying around some trees. Before you know it, your friendly land owner will be kicking you off his land because someone else has ruined it for you. Also, beware of uploading photos taken with your phone. They will probably be geo-tagged and, therefore, pose the same risk. Most people on here will offer you friendly advice about the fields you have found and PM you to ask if it is ok for them to fly at the field as well (if it is near them). However, unfortunately not everyone is as sincere in my experience and friendly landowners are hard to find! PS: From the picture, looks pretty great to me.
  10. Yeah - a lot of power for a steep climb. A few of these might end up in a climb/stall/dive/in-the-dirt scenario in the wrong hands!
  11. Does anyone know where to buy some decent knotless netting for PPG net replacement? 40mm knotless. Tried a few places online, but they all seem to be the type of netting that is 'fluffy' (sticks to velcro) and therefore, not very durable.
  12. Tried Scarab and SolarX and Scarab was more comfortable (and cheaper). I use a 2m/4m radio and no need for Bluetooth (useless for anything other than tandem in my experience, due to short range and engine interference).
  13. Geeeezus! What happened between L3 and L4?? ?
  14. I need to move to Spain before Brexit! ?
  15. Yes - didn’t like it at all. Ugly and uncomfortable. I ordered my Icaro from FlyBubble and they sent it to MicroAvionics to have the headset fitted. Looks awesome and really comfy too. And definitely get the visor for an extra £15 (I think). Amazing how much it keeps your face warm and can easily be taken off in the summer if you wish. Pic of mine taken just now:

  17. I don’t think you can use Bluetooth with Micro Avionics. You can see a list of their accessories here: http://www.microavionics.co.uk/ULM Intercoms.html http://www.microavionics.co.uk/Paramotor Headsets.html
