  6. a jolly fine question, especially good if they have flown fusion and nucleon Simon
  7. Hi Adam I only fly close to the ground when conditions are smooth and I pull the trimmers in i.e off, it then flies on the normal brakes and behaves just like a pg wing. Think of having a motor wing and a pg wing except they are all in the same glider. The fusion which I have not flown was said to be good for PG with the trims off by the CEN tester. the sink rate is also similar to a pg wing with 1.1 m/s sink or thereabouts read this independant review by the uk PG body http://www.flyparamania.com/images/stories/fusion/fusion%20test.pdf here is an excerpt In flight The Fusion definitely requires a light and controlled touch on the brakes when trimmed at the slower end of the trim range, but in this mode the handling is light and very precise and makes easy work of the low and slow flying that is so rewarding on a paramotor. in England we say you can have your cake and eat it
  8. Hi I never quite got around to fitting risers, I was told they would add 5mph or thereabouts. In layman's terms the main difference is that on speedbar a pg becomes potentially much less stable. On a reflex wing, first off the centre of pressure is much further forward similar to a DHV 1 wing in old money Secondarily up until a few years back they were much less efficient and would not turn as well. Now modern motoring folk, flying the fusion reckon its the first ever crossover wing. By that I mean it can be flown as a PG wing with good handling and low sink or motored at high speed with the trimmers out . The interesting bit in all this is that a PG on bar = less stable A reflex with trims out = more stable as the centre of pressure moves even further forward. leaving you literally hanging on the front of the wing. I like it as it opens up your ability to fly distance and penetrate - woof Admin: Please excuse the editing, there is some good stuff here and I wanted to follow it.
  9. One day whilst flying with a headwind on my lovely airwave sport 3, Desperate Dan took off on a revolution and then literally disappered over the horizon. Being heavy boned I have always been one of the fastest hill pilots but I could only move forward at 8MPH over the ground, there was no chance of catching him. when I spoke to Dan he said he was doing around 20MPH with the trimmers out. which is quite usable airspeed. I bought the same wing and was able to get airspeed of 30mph or 48kmh (depending how european you are). The ride is noticeably more comfortable with the trimmers out. both the revolution and synth are beginner wings baa
  10. thank you for our loverly swine flu - stops all the eco gloom and political theft hitting the news. please lets just all fly like a happy pig PS I havent even been drinking Simon
  11. Hello I have said this to Eddie but I'll say it here, Guy bond will for £10 allow you to take off in an East wind, lovely field in whitchurch with slight downhill. There was a fellow near oving, maybe worth searching the forum. Tetsworth has a huge flat open field that is common land, you will need to walk your motor in. I am happy to do this with you and Eddie one night perhaps even next week. A Westerly would be a good one for me as I enjoy the crack up the hill in lambourn in an easterly. Simon send me a PM with your detail
  12. I agree. However I would like to add the following spice to your irrefutable logic - woof!! Paragliders normally fly hills, flying into wind the airmass is travelling up the hill = lift is good. going downwind you are no doubt dropping unless in a thermal, as the ground feature (hill) has gone. Hence why some people may get confused. The key is the when hill flying you are generally flying towards the rising air. once above 500 foot this benefit has usually gone unless very windy, in England the green and pleasant land. Scotland and Wales could be different. Simon
  13. please explain - what the article says and what is the great downwind turn myth ??
  14. You can get the same in France remember Simon

  16. Yep, battery is duff Just phoned them and said it should be here tomorrow, but better to have one just in case. Cheers Simon - Must be better than a 'hand job' Hi ASquaddie you can't have been married long, as a hand job is a quick despatch to an urgent problem, I know Pete is very good at them I have seen him perform in public before. The battery on a Parajet can also be got from most scooter shops, mine seems to desulpate on the charger every 3 months. I got mine in witney
  17. Up the pole looks lovely I'll be there at Six with simon and maybe colin Simon
  18. Hi Eddie, I hope to get my motor this afternoon and may try and go back to the common leys tommorow night who know I need to do some serious ground handling baa
  19. It is correct, I could not help myself, I now have a lovely cabrio 42, my wing loading is 180kg /42 = 4.28 wing load. its all personal opinion on whats best, if I dont try I wont know for me My therory is I would like a fusion 36 or 33 maybe less, but I can't afford it. So which would I prefer a Nil wind on the albatross or the Revo. When I have mastered it probably the Fusion my weakness lies in rotation I can always get it up in the wind. I just have trouble getting off I see this wing as a stop gap until I can afford one of them fusion things, I will let you know how I get on baa
  20. you are hanging at 4.3 KG / square metre me at 5.8 KG / square metre, no wonder you just need a little dab !! anyhow the mothership is coming I just got half the wing off a jumbo jet. I couldn't help myself it was cheep.
