  1. Hi If its all about selling the dream I buy the video. However I have just received my Parajet Macro. It looks like a work of art. Runs beautifully and its made in southern England. I can't speak of the black hawk but, as Simon W says you are buying into the brand and the point of sale is the beginning of the product cycle. I cant speak for everyone but we exist in a small specialist area of mechanical engineering. Things go wrong and it is the mark of a company that is happy to publish its mistakes and fix them online in public display. I hope this forum encourages others. I am happy to wait until parajet get their hand luggage flying machine let me know how it goes if you get one. Simon
  2. Eat more food simon that will stop you slipping in have a good weekend simon
  3. Hi Francis You are dead right, These movements could cause armageddon. during my hands off flying and seat getting in, I try and keep everything in equilibrium, makeing all movements slight. Your cage seems mod seems a great idea, even if the chance of a problem is small. You will have no problem. what we need is a cool netting with the logo written into it, to keep with the lovely design of the beast cheers simon
  4. I just had my first hour on my Brand spanking Macro coupled with an airwave sport 3. Wow what an incredible hour. Anyway back to the thread. I am a convert from hill flying. My major concern was how to get into the harness whilst holding the brakes and throttle. I let go of the brake on the right and it stayed right next to the pulley on the riser. I let off the other brake and again it stayed next to the riser directly underneath the pulley. I looked up at the canopy and realised that because I was already at trim speed = pressure in the wing. The brakes are pulled to within 5cm of the pully and could not get pulled back into the prop. I presume this is a feature of low hangpoints. A pulley placed where the brakes normally rest at trim speed should cure the need for magnets etc. I can see a problem on the same wing, if I had High hangpoints and no pulley further down. Just my thoughts on my flight around buckinghamshire lastnight Simon
  5. Hi All A suggestion for everyone Please post your top few local routes with pictures of where you fly. Any navigation aids for airspace etc. Points of interest and beauty, with perhaps a small story in you local club pages. If we all do this, when the opportunity arises and we going camping somewhere else in the country or visit friends we will know of a lovely route to follow. This also gives the opportunity to get some Paraporn in whist waiting for that lovely weather, we are due and an idea to newcomers of what a cross country may look like. I hope you like the idea as Francis would say JFDI Simon
  6. Hanwags are a favorite in this game ive had mine 7 yrs still looking good good luck simon
  7. looks great, stick it ontop of yr helmet for a 360 degree view. wear a superhero costume and go solve some crimes, whilst looking incredibly fashionable. good find Simon
  8. Brilliant PR - Already !! As a thought Jeremy arch petrolhead Clarkson, is a heavy supporter of people from the forces who have been seriously wounded http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/patrons.html As this trip is closely aligned with his aims it may be worth a call to his office to ask if he might suggest any help in fundraising. And would he like you to challenge captain slow to a race by Paramotor for some car test?? A race over a mountain perhaps Just a few late night thoughts Simon If you dont ask you dont get
  9. Hi All, Lovely day again in the UK. Thought I'd ask if you have any ideas on insurance for motor and wing in both car and say a locked shed, for fire and theft. Does anyone have such a policy please ? Kind regards Simon
  10. I think Francis is correct. The moment you drop from the wing it could collapse on yr head. if running downwind the kit will have the energy to clear you, whether its still flying or just a mass of fabric. if you fly into wind you could find it stops flying and falls back ontop of you. simon
  11. Hi On that note does anyone fly to the isle of wight with appropraite equipment, from the mainland ? Just wondered? Simon
  12. Hi Norman Did you try a push bar? like a speed bar but for stepping on? If so was it no good Kind Regards Simon
  13. Hi Si, Please can I have an Everest harness too, I may fly higher Simon
  14. its in hand with simon W but all tips happily received thanks simon
  15. Hi All, I have a Parajet Macro on order . My only reservation is that I cannot quite get IN to the harness the depth doesnt quite seem to be there. I have tried adjusting everything to the max but I am not quite there yet. I am 6'4" and a light and fluffy 19 stone. Does anyone else have the problem of feeling like they are falling out of the harness and did they solve it? Kind Regards Simon
  16. I think you guys are too harsh. Have you ever been told to make something happen for less cash? There was no Mr Wankel rotary engine sat by Gilos side to bounce ideas off. The poor man just had to do it all himeself without anyone as a soundboard, or to share the workload against a deadline. If they had not shipped the engine untested and unbuilt they would have missed the drop in wind that happens very infrequently. Gilo is clearly a talented man to pull off the technical feat. I guaruntee he would have been up there too if he had double the time and twice the man power, to soaktest his engine. Simon
  17. Hi Gilo, I was speaking to a friend who I am trying to pursuade to fly and he said do you need a funny name to begin flying. Well spotted I thought!! Gilo and Bear Anyway many congratulations a fabulous challenge. Well done for winning it. Questions if I may I am interested to know which wing you flew and if they were modded in any way. Also I am wondering as the air must be so thin up there what were the groundspeeds into wind and downwind many thanks Simon
  18. dont you mean third. I predict the meteoric rise to position 1 by 11 PM tonight ish, after Britain watches Mission everest and logs on !! Simon
  19. I understand what Francis is saying, but I add that Paragliding is best performed in unstable conditions. for best results. (dangerous part of the day) Paramotoring is the reverse. Best flying at Dawn and dusk (work friendly). Active weather either not begun or just finished. In todays market it is not too difficult to predict when weather will be unstable. Dont fly your motor under these conditions. All said and done our biggest risk is asymetric collapse - These happen much more in unstable conditions Simon
  20. Hi all, I live at ox18 2eg alas inside brize class D airspace. I have a Parajet Macro on order and would like to fly with some local pilots. I noticed three pilots going up at East Hanney a few weeks back. Please can you let me know who flys where and if I may join in. Many thanks Simon
  21. Hi Just wondered if any of you guys know if there are any DHV 1/2 reflex wings. Also lets imagine that you have an asymetric collapse on a reflex. would you then heavy weightshift towards the open side and maybe, maybe gently break to maintain direction, again on the open side. Like a standard PG wing? many thanks simon
  22. Should a prop not be balanced before you buy it ? I guess not then. I am flying a sport 3 - never flown a paramotor but know it is a calling. After 7 years paragliding, I am frustrated waiting for the perfect day, for free flying Other than the impending hurricane, after the days weather has died down, its hard to imagine not being able to fly most nights, on the way back from work. That fact alone excites me. I have been in touch with Simon and he is helpful and will give me the appropriate training, I am just trying to justify buying the first piece of kit I heard about. The Parajet Macro. I live near Bampton alas inside brize class D airspace, So I guess I will need to take off nearer the A420. Look forward to having my first flight thanks for the responses Simon
  23. I am considering purchasing a Parajet Macro, I am wondering if it has a balancershaft. what is the vibration like, if there is there any? I very much like the idea that it revs so low on cruise. please can others comment on other potential machines. I weigh 125KG naked weight and am 6'4" tall. Kind Regards Simon
