  1. Hi All, I write this note as both a warning and a thankyou. I have a one year old Parajet Macro , I have had great fun buzzing around the villages of Oxon and Bucks over the last year. In February this year, I was tuning her up and was interrupted by the arrival of a friend, whilst putting the sparkplug back in with my fingers. The next thing I know on a beautiful February afternoon after flying for an hour or so the engine stopped whilst in flight a couple of times. This has never happened before. On checking the spark plug I notice it is undone and requires two complete revolutions to tighten it up. I then remember leaving it this way when my friend came round. Next flight I make a forced landing as the motor cuts out. Colin is with me and quickly deduces I have fried the top of my piston / rings bore etc etc etc It’s a sad moment for any flyer. The moral of the story is PRE FLIGHT check your sparkplug. I take it back to Parajet and hope that something may be salvaged from this engine. To cut a long story short, I have just picked up the motor which has been spruced up and had a small mod to the harness attachment. I went to pay and they said there is no cost. Totally unbelievable as I know it needed a rebore and piston etc. etc. I can only say a huge thankyou to Parajet as I believe this was all my fault. Happy Easter

A female news anchor who, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't, turned to the weatherman and asked, 'So Bob, where's that eight inches you promised me last night?' 4. Hi All, I just wondered if anyone is up for a fly on Thursday, I am hoping to go flying at 7am Thursday Morning for half a day cheers Simon
  5. I too had a very lovely day on Sunday, I am a recent convert from Para - gli/waiting - to motoring - in order to complete the sex change - transition, one only needs to see ones wing being overtaken at high speed by a reflexer ,(Dan) to see how the other half live. At which point I just had to have macey2kk's wing thanks. There is nothing quite like the feeling of pulling up the trimmers for the first time my speed was 25mph on the way to the white horse and 40 on the way back yipee. Charlie kindly took this lovely photo, if only I knew how to post it PS weather brilliant all week Simon
  6. Are there any diesel paramotors or any in the pipline. Fuel economy is a good 15% better. Also throw a match on some diesel, it will not light. thanks Simon
  7. I remember being 18 and not knowing what I would do for a living / fun . People always derive a greater sense of self worth when they acquire new skills e.g. a course on something she previously expressed interest . RYA certificate so she can pilot a yacht Glider Pilot course or perhaps one with an engine rally driving golf pottery kittens and knitting ? used to be popular for girls in the 50's dare I suggest Paramotoring course with the host SW !! I am sure you get the jist
  8. Hand off the brake on the stalling side, better still hand of both brakes weightshift to steer out of danger you can tell it stalling due to the pressure change ? just guessing good to see u on the hill (tall) Simon
  9. Hi For your interest, if you did not hear about this earlier, apparently its becoming popular!! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/men/article5726286.ece Simon
  10. Hi All, I live near faringdon, southmoor on the A420. On Saturday the forecast is WNW, stable conditions plus some sunshine and 9C. is there a field nearby that is accessible by ordinary vehicle for this wind direction takeoff. Is anyone else out flying. many thanks Simon

  12. look at the front cover of the latest top Gear magazine some people say that the tame racing driver flew only with strings and no canopy attached other people said ...... http://www.topgear.com/content/magflash/1280/
  13. On the off chance that Simon wanted to organise a friday morning blast at 4am haha I think that would be a lovely morning escapade. http://www.nmm.ac.uk/server/show/conWebDoc.3843#solstice I'm not even sure I can make it, but I just think we should be flying if we can what do you think pagans to the ready
  14. Low level asymetric collapse is the biggest cause for concern in the pg community It you were hardly moving the rotor off that barn would easily be cabable of collapsing your wing. by no means is a low level flight especially for the experienced a great cause of concern. However in windy conditions, flying at low level it is dangerous. my personal rule is never overfly any obstacle - even trees in a high wind, due to the rotor. always choose a no obstacle route for a landing if you can. height is your friend Kind regards simon
  15. Hi Simon, I took off in Whitchurch and flew round waddesdon, without landing, and went back to whitchurch. all those lovely hills everywhere, on the way there I was 35MPH on the way back about 15MPH. I will switch to KMH in the interest of sounding more impressive next time. I think we should attempt to find a pub for that has a landing field nearby and flyin for lunch, Simon W please can you organise? Can anyone think of the perfect pub for this? Kind Regards Simon
  16. Hi All, just felt the urge to mention a beautiful flight from whitchurch (aylesbury) to waddesdon manor - gorgeous weather and a happy public - Even the police were waving from the race for life (charity run)!! I feel as though when I fly over the countryside , people rush out to look and wave, is it just me? Another good thing is if you do both PG and PPG you can check out thermal source ideas. e.g I'll see if there is a thermal over there oh yes there is happy flying Simon PJ Macro 2.5hrs Airwave sport 3
  17. Is there a resouce out there, that enables one to see common land in goole earth or just on a map? I am hunting my common land takeoff sites. Kind Regards Simon
  18. Legally for a paraglider, I dont know for a paramotor, you actually fly the aircraft IMC in certain airspace to permit cloud flying. its part of the BHPA pilot exam. Yes IMC flight on PG allows flight in cloud by law, you dont need a radio in all types of airspace. flak jacket on ready for the flames. kind regards simon
  19. When he landed on someone, perhaps he was looking for someone to celebrate with and decided to dispense with the usual chatting up routine Seriously though, its a lovely story, a great adventure. yes it was amateur, great. The best parties are the ones that just happen!! I think its sour grapes, to knock it. One is only truely in a position to comment, when one is an achiever oneself. Or someone else stands to lose reputation against their claimed achievement, the only thing is the previous height record, which was beaten They have stated there is an element of hope in the claim, which is upfront and honest, I believe in their claim, more than most things people may ask me to believe in. Simon
  20. I just saw this http://www.bucksfire.gov.uk/BucksFire/News/Paraglider2008.htm I hope the poor man is alright wishing him a speedy recovery Simon

  22. I come from the PG arena. Hence I would always want to land power off. Please state if you feel there are good reasons to land power on. Other than if you fluff it you can go round again. Kind Regards Simon
  23. The one that looked easiest - I am assuming that you have been flying for some time - If not then the one with the better Air law priviledges Simon
