  1. Hi All, Have to agree with Simon lovely smooth flight nice easy takeoff and fairly respectable landing. Simon headed home after we landed to do some dog care and I hung about for a couple of hours on the off chance someone else would turn up for a fly though not to be. As the wing was out and the motor was all together and I still had decent fuel I tookoff and had a quick flight over simons house and gave it a bit of a buzz waved to Simon and Rob I could see on the ground. Then headed back to again respectable landing. All in all a fantastic days flying. Hopefully tomorrow will be more of the same in the field for 8.30am latest and beat the inversion. Fancy going the other direction tomorrow Simon go to the powerstation maybe. Cheers Col...

  6. Thank you all, Although my landings in general are much better now they ar'nt as consistent as I would like so when this bout of naff weather clears and opportunity to fly is there, some circuits and bumps will be the order of the day till consistancy is aquired. Chris the cheque is in the post . Dean cheers for capturing the moment for posterity the photos are great. Pegasus I'm sure you will get in the air soon and your landings will be a breeze. Take care all and I'll see you at the flying field soon. Cheers Col......
  7. Hi Norman, Just to let you know I talked to simon about transfering your reserve into your new sup'air container. He said it shouldent be a problem as its just changing one outer container for another and not really a re-pack as such ( the reserve stays in its inner deployment bag ). He reckons it will be about Tue coming when he will be back and starting training again which I believe matches in with your plans to be at the field flying. Hope that helps. Take care mate and I bet you are making them engine noises .
  8. Hi All, Just to let you all know that I intend to be at the flying field most days this coming week to do some flying and give a helping hand to any one else who's coming to fly or ground handle. Not sure what times I'll be there but if you give me a call or drop a text to me on 07787572234 i can let you know and arrange to be there if I'm not already. Looks as if the weather is going to be kind for the next few days a least so hope to see quite a few of you over the week. Cheers Col.......
  9. Cheers Pete, Your right a lot happier mentaly as well thought for a while that I was going to be landing on my arse forever and its just not got the padding required. . Col.....
  10. Hi All, Just to announce that at last I got my long run of landings ending up on my arse sorted out. Took off on Sun evening and had a flight to the white horse and back. Came in a bit high so some mini wing overs to lose some height, leveled off, bleed some speed off and done a perfect stand up landing right on the spot I took off from. Must admit that some air punching and whaaahooo's were indulged in. Chris Holly was there to witness this wonder and Dean got some photo's he hopes to post soon. Thanks to Rob for the tips he gave me Sat they helped a lot. Cheers Col......

  13. Hi Norman it is stunning scenery and being on the coast its silky smooth air as well. Its not the true highlands as I was no further north than Largs ( Give you an excuse to use google map to find it) but there are some small islands that are more than flyable to in safety , Millport, Rothsy, Bute and the Cumbreys. Most of the photo's were taken by my mate Andy so the ones you with a wing in it are pics of me. Next time I'm going up I'll let you know your welcome to come.

    Helmets

Hi All, Well I said that I would give a small review when I had had a chance to use the kit mentioned in my previouse post so here goes. The helmet arrived after about 7 days well packed and in good condition certainly looks the part very stylish. The radio that came with it although looked like good quality unfortunatly was one that worked on the 400-470mhz range so dropped them an e-mail explaining to the seller that it wasnt suitable and could he change it for one that was. Got a reply next day apologising and asked me to send the handset back and they would send out the correct model which they did very quickly . The build quality of the helmet is ok mainly the lining letting it down but very comfortable to wear. The ear cups are not the best but do the job but the mic is actualy quite good clear sound reported from the ground when I tried it at the flying field. The sound quality from the ear cups is a bit tempremental I think caused by using cheap jack plugs and sockets to wire them into the system easy fixed but hassle. All in all I like the helmet. The earphones could have been better but do the job. The radio handset is pretty decent quality but you do need to read the handbook to get the best out it. Having the ptt buttons on both sides is very handy and the visor works well stays up when you put it up and down when you put it down no more watery eyes . The ability to plug an MP3 player into the helmet is there but not tried that in the air yet but works fine on the ground. At the price I paid I have to say that Im happy and would recommend it to anyone on a buget. You pays your money and makes your choice. Cheers Col.........
  18. hi simon, As long as i can fly and see some nice bits of countryside im up for whichever makes the best sense on the day. Dartmoor would be nice but not if we are fighting headwinds all the way. So perhaps a local flight taking in some of the better landmarks. Just my pennys worth. Cheers Col.....
  19. Hi Pegasus, Welcome to the forum. Hope to see you in the sky . Col....
  20. Hi All, They do two diffrent radios one on the 400-470mhz band which is the ST-918 model and one on the 136-174mhz band which is the ST-818. So if you do order the helmet and radio together make sure you specify the ST-818 model radio and you should be fine. You'll have guessed I know this because I didnt and recived the ST-918 but the guys were great I dropped them an e-mail and got one in reply saying to send the handset back and they would send out an ST-818 in exchange. Once I get to use the kit all together I'll do a small review and post it on the forum. The kit I got was this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=014
