  1. Anyone seen or have pictures/diagrams of a WB42? I found the exploded diagram on the Walbro site but it doesnt really give an idea of what it looks like. From what I have discovered all WB series carbs are the same its just key diamensions like venturi size etc that change. Can anyone verify this?
  2. Ha ha !... Leave him be ..he's tinkering and investigating something we are both interested in.... but its top secret and if I told you the Men in Black would need to come and erase your memory..
  3. In case anyones interested .. link here. Also in classifieds on PMC site. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120899644815?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  4. Got some balls this fella.. if anything goes wrong he could end up in a bad way with no parachute to deploy. http://www.geeked.info/gary-connery-to-make-the-first-attempt-to-land-a-wingsuit-flight/ He's doing this just up the road from me so might have to pay a visit when it takes place
  5. All the more reason not to trust this .. Bulgrian Ebay seller with a sales feedback of 5.. I never said the price is too good to be true. The whole idea of buying a paramotor from this guy in Bulgaria is ! Err its quoted as $550.. I personally would steer clear of this but its your choice. Several people in this forum have been ripped off already trying to buy paramotors off of Ebay. If you buy and you never see your items Ebay will not be off much help. If you are still determined to buy ask to see dated photos of the actual units units with close ups next to a daily newspaper or something. Also ask him if he will accept an Escrow service for payment. Lastly Good Luck ! You may need it!
  6. Almost certainly too good to be true.. This guy has only 5 positive feedback as a seller. The rest is as a buyer. If it is genuine you better hope it ships in one piece and customs don't land you with a nice VAT bill when it gets here. Then if it breaks down you are on your own to sort it out.. Unless you ship it all back to the US at great cost. Buying second hand in the UK is a better option if you cannot afford new. I was lucky getting my Parajet second hand with its warranty still running. Buying from dealers of the UK based manufacturers such as Bulldog, Bailey or Parajet is your best option for brand new. There are folks on here that are dealers. Morgy, Haze and SW.
  7. He's not wrong.. I am interested! I actually lost a bloody spring washer while we were talking about it at the weekend! Mind you I was fingers and thumbs ..and feet... all day.. Enzo had a right laugh at my expense I am sure. But yes yes yes..a good idea me thinks.
  8. This was in Italy however I am totally stunned at the numerous displays of stupidity and utter disregard for pilot and members of the publics safety in this video. Flying skill? Maybe... Brains? NONE ! Surprised that they actually let this idiot on the plane to come over be honest... [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]
  9. Trust you to dig that one up...interesting though.. Now if only they made plastic wings ..I would snap one up.. get it? Boom Boom !
  10. .... I only wanted to know so I could avoid it... Apparently once you go in to Basingrad you never get out again .. I hear if you are a local it's pronounced ... Basing Saint Oke..
  11. Err where's the Basingstoke field? I have ground handled in a few parks around there but never been to the field ...where exactly is it?
  12. Memory Map have released a version of their Mapping tool for Android. http://www.memory-map.co.uk/kb/questions.php?questionid=87 It seems a bit fussy to set up initially as there are hundreds of different options that can be diplayed on screen, and you have to get the balance right between displaying key informaton and being able to view the map. I downloaded a CAA chart that I purchased online straight to the device from my Memory Map account which is a nice feature. I then took some test routes that I had created and loaded them up from my PC. Strangely you cannot load memory maps own MMO files from the PC. They need to be saved as GPX files in the PC based app first. Then transfered to a specific folder on your Android device. There is also no landscape mode.. at least I couldnt find one. It needs to include a landscape option to make best use of the phone display in my opinion. Over all its not a bad app but could do with some interface improvements both for file transfer and the display. If you already have the PC version with the required CAA maps I would say go get it. If not I would suggest waiting until a couple of major version upgrades have been released.

    Android APP

Thought I would reincarnate this thread on PPGpS After watching this little app in the Android market for a while and looking at the feedback it does seems very good. Certainly at £1.71 I think it is an absolute steal when you compare it some of the devices that you could pay £500 or more for. If you have an Android phone grab it while it is so cheap as I wouldnt be surprised if the price goes up! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ppgps.full&hl=en I can plot routes on memory map using CAA charts and overlay them on this apps google base map ready for a flight and there is plenty of data and info provided on screen, without being too cluttered, including an automatic home feature and fuel burn rate so you cannot get lost or run out of fuel . Granted you wont get advanced features like airspace infringment warnings..but couple this with a lower end Alti/Vario and I dont think you could really go far wrong if you are a novice and just starting out like me. Now if I could only get my flying skills good enough for XC flight I might have something to actually use it for!
  14. Looks cool ...similar cut away system as normal sky divers use by the looks of it? Wonder how long before we see a paramotor harness with the same or similar system? Certainly the thought of having a steerable reserve is appealing!

    Hang Test Advice.

Point noted regardng the potential to pull the eye bolts together. The joists in my garage roof are almost the same distance apart as the swing arms on the paramotor so I believe there is very little shear force acting on the eye bolts. I will take another look and decide what to do as I have spare rope to set up two individual lines. The suggestion that drilling a hole in the top of the joist is best because it leaves more wood below the hole is wholly incorrect.. The hole should be drilled in the centre line of the beam where the forces acting on it are neutral. The top of a joist is in compression and the bottom is in tension so its bad advice to suggest drilling the hole in the top of the beam as it will be weakened by doing so. The diagram below shows the principle quite well even though it is for a steel RSJ.
  16. Unfortunately it means neither. It is purely a measurement of generated forward thrust when air is pushed in the direction opposite. That's all. It has no bearing at all on your weight, all up or otherwise. It does however have a direct bearing on how much weight you can actually fly with. The more thrust the unit has the more forward momentum is created for a given mass, and so the more weight can be carried in flight, (as more lift will be generated by the wing). I hope this helps.. however I am sure you will read all sorts of wierd and wonderfull explanations after this post.. so the best bet is to read up on it yourself as much as you can and dont rely on other peoples interpretations (including mine) as they may not create the full picture, or even worse provide information which is completely incorrect.

    Hang Test Advice.

These ones are from B and Q, made of dark chocolate, and so are much stronger!!! Seriously though I hung off them in my free flying harness first and jumped up and down, pulled from side to side. Nothing budged, no creaking or snaping noises, so then I went the next step and hung in the motor harness.. it was fine. I only used one piece of rope threaded through the two eyes at the top so it was easy to level out as well.

    Hang Test Advice.

Simplest solution is the most elegant... Bought some of these.... http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber=846966 One in each joist... worked a treat Thanks for all the pointers though!

    Hang Test Advice.

Need to set up a hang test in my garage folks. Question is what method shall I use to fix my ropes to the garage roof joists. The joist is a 6" x 2" so is it safe to hang all up weights 120-140kg from a single joist? If so what method should I use to fix the ropes? Would drilling 2 x 1" holes in the centre line of the joist to thread the 16mm nylon ropes through be ok? Or should I get something like this http://www.sugarrays.co.uk/shop/heavy-duty-ceiling-hook.html With this I would be worried that I would split the joist trying to wind coach bolts in to it. Finally is there another easier way that involves no risk to my garage roof and I am not thinking straight??? Advice appreciated !
  20. Yup picked some up from Halfords the other day..this stuff. http://www.castrolmoto.com/en/products/power1_racing_2t.php

Oh one more thing..it was nearly a Bailey..and with enough practice and experience I'll certainly be ready for the V6 when it comes I couldn't really turn down a brand new unit that would only cost me £3k with warranty!
  23. Errm wasnt me.. I had nothing to do with it ...
