  1. ptwizz, I am glad it has been due to other commitments and not just the weather. I think that it wont be too long before I am back in England and I have been worried that my flying will be horribly curtailed.
  2. Rob, I am afraid that I can't give you anything as useful as numbers, but the Sirocco makes my eyes water and the Roadster didn't. Any faster and I would have to have something to limit the air going up my nose. All in all, I cover a great deal more ground. In nil wind, compared to the Roadster the Sirocco is really easy to get up. I normally fly in nil wind, or very close to nil wind, so this is important. Up in the air, if you want to throw it around it is so much more agile. Minimal input and you are on your wingtips. However, and I don't understand this, I have to work much harder to keep the Sirocco in a spiral dive than I did the old Roadster. The Sirocco wants to exit the spiral. Ground skimming, I found that with my Roadster that it took all my concentration, the wing wallowed and I had to anticipate. The Sirocco is like it is on rails, very crisp and responds immediately to input. To put this review into perspective, I am an intermediate level pilot and only have +/-200hrs...........so take it with a pinch of salt.
  3. ptwizz, 40hrs on the Bailey in 4 years? Do you have another motor?
  4. I am about the same weight as you and have been flying a Sirocco 24 for a year. I don't have a lot to compare it with, previously I had a Roadster 28 and have also flown a Fusion and an ITV Dakota. For what I do, it's been a great wing. As fast as I want. Crisp and responsive, very light on tip steering. Easy to get up. Over all, no regrets.
  5. Vince is right. I have a Top80, a 12mm bungee doubled up works fine. If you search this forum you will find a link to a tutorial on exactly how to do it. It also makes the starter easier to reach for 'in-flight' re-starts.
  6. Thanks Vince. And replacing the netting? I am tempted, sorely tempted. Christian
  7. I saw a 'Heavy Duty 16mm Hoop' as an extra. What's that for? Is it something that you would use if you had the frame mounted on a trike? and How do you replace the netting if it is damaged? It doesn't look easy to replace.
  8. Try PPGPS http://www.ppgps.info/, which is good for Android phones. There's probably a Mac alternative. Fly safe, Christian
  9. Thanks Tony..............and good luck with the op, hope that you are back in the air soon. Christian
  10. I am looking for some paramotor training for my sister. She would be starting from scratch. She is in her late 50’s but is fit and strong and not short of courage………she’s a horsewoman. Ideally I am looking for something in the next couple of months in Spain or France (because of the weather) that would end up with a BHPA certification. Any suggestions? Thanks, Christian
  11. This is a regular question. check out http://www.paramotorclub.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10458 The main advice is not to buy anything until you have done your training. During your training you will pick up the knowledge to make an informed choice. There is no 'best' wing, just the wing that suits you and your circumstances. Good luck with your training, it's a fantastic sport. Christian
  12. I have an Ozone Roadster M (28m2) for £360 Good condition 200+ hrs Last checked March 2015 Always stored at home, away from damp and sunlight. I am am 80Kg. It was my first wing and I flew it for 4 years without getting bored. It's a nice safe wing, but slow by today's standards. I have just bought an Ozone Sirocco. PM me if you are interested and I can send you the report and some photos. Christian
  13. They may be uneven through design. They are uneven on a Miniplane and many other makes.
  14. I use Movie Maker whcih is part of the Windows 8 bundle. Nothing special, but it works and it's simple to use. Christian
  15. Here's one I saw last week...............v spooky.
  16. PPGPS. Works great and gives me all the info that I need. And it creates the files so that you can do this ........ http://www.doarama.com/view/308037
  17. It's a bit old fashioned, but it would be worth signing up to these to yahoo groups. The Top80 group is particularly helpful. Any problems you are having, post a question and you will get a quick and knowledgeable response. It's one of the best reasons for buying a Miniplane. https://groups.yahoo.com/group/top80/ https://groups.yahoo.com/group/miniplane-owners/ You will also find this website a mine of useful information http://www.elpasoparagliding.com/ppgtechinfo/top80/Top80.htm I had the same problem with Miniplane UK, couldn't even get a price out of them. Fly safe, Christian
  18. Morgy, thanks for taking the time to post an explanation. Of the Sirocco, Ozone state in their brochure….. "The Sirocco is a versatile wing; ideal for females, older aged or less fit pilots, occasional weekend warriors or anyone who finds it hard to run with a heavy engine on their back" Of the Speedster, Ozone state on their website….. "with a surprisingly high top speed and a general ease of use that will appeal to paramotor pilots of intermediate to advanced ability" I think that my confusion comes from Ozone publicity material as much as anything else. It looks like the Sirocco and the Speedster are aimed at different types of pilots, which is partly why it seemed unlikely that the Sirocco was simply a light weight version of the Speedster. Fly safe, Christian
  19. I am a bit confused about where the Sirocco fits in. The blurb says that it’s based on the Speedster, but I didn’t get the impression that it’s just a light weight version of the Speedster. If I understood correctly, it’s more about very easy launch characteristics. Ozone have recently brought out the Viper3 and Roadster2 and they have had great reviews, both have the much trumpeted ‘Sharknose’ technology. If this is so good, wouldn’t it be logical that the next Speedster incorporated ‘Sharknose’? There is no mention of the ‘Sharknose’ in the Sirocco blurb. I am not knocking Ozone, on the contrary I want to buy a new Speedster, but I am reluctant to place an order because I suspect that they will bring out an updated version sometime soon. Can anybody out there clarify? Fly safe, Christian
  20. Would love to know when it's coming out. It must be sometime soon. And as soon as they do, I'll order one.Paramotor? Love my Miniplane and the new Top110 sounds interesting. Otherwise it would have to be an Air Conception.
