  1. Yep but there is more to the story, will tell you more when l see you. Now wishing for the lighter nights, there's a clue there somewhere haha. Mike
  2. Hi Simon, Colin, Couldn't make it Monday, split three ways between freeflying and PPG and in the end didn't fly at all. Hope next weekend the weather is a bit warmer and wind speed more favourable for PPG. Then found l was logged out of the forum, hence texting today. Anyway found my password so hopefully fully organised now and ready. Need a fix, need to be airborne, Mike
  3. Hi all, getting complaints from the misses again, cos its raining, low cloud base, missurable etc l am on the computer again getting my daily fix. Jackie says how are all the other partners, bet they feel the same . She reckons l am mad being on the keyboard for hours on end. Good picture of Terry, know how he feels. Hope this weather breaks for Monday. See you all soon Mike. going to fold me wing now. Its still stuffed sacked from last weekend. Then l am going to play with my strobe. Sad eh! Regards Mike
  4. Hi all, yes l thought 92lbs was a bit excessive on the prop bolts. I reckon a maximum of 88 - 90 is ample. As to do it freehand is a bit hit and miss really, so l shall continue to use a torque wrench. Hi Paul, yes my parajet is getting sorted and hopefully by the end of the month all should be 100% thanks to Giles at Parajet.com. The noise that you heard was caused by the prop at the six oclock position just clipping the bottom of the cage. Temporary spacers have now been introduced which will keep me flying till the end of the month. Hope to be out flying on Monday as Sunday looks as if its going to be blown out. Havn't heard from Neil yet reference power on his Macro Parajet, hopefully he will read this and let us know. I will of course look into the power thing on mine at the end of the month. Happy safe flying all Regards Mike
  5. Hi Simon, to add to the thread, Pandy was cancelled today cos' of low wind so as a great back up in the short time l had today l flew at Basingstoke (just down the road from me) and had a few problems with the Parajet myself. A couple of take offs previously at Lambourn and today, observers noticed a "ping" or a "ting" sort of sound half way through the take off phase and have narrowed it down to an obvious point which l will explain tommorow(mon). Just to say l need some penny washers tonight to hopefully rectify the problem. Looking forward to coming down tommorow and will be down ASAP. Regards Mike
  6. Hi Norman, here goes then,, I have always been fascinated in flying since l was at junior school and when l was old enough to join the forces l tried the RAF, but being very young l failed one of the aptitude tests so l then tried the Army and the nearest to getting into the air at that time was the Parachute Regiment. After a year of training l transfered cos not much parachuting but a lot of foot slogging. I eventually made it to the Army Air Corps for the last six years of my ten year service, and actually became quite a fitness freak in the process. Eventually l made it to Aircrew and attained my observers wings and finally got to fly as we were trained to pilot the aircraft incase the pilot became incapacitated. During those six years l went on a freefall parachute course at Bad Lipspringe in Germany and found that really exciting, the only down side was l had to rely on not only the weather but the plane and the pilot to be available as well, so after about 90 jumps and leaving the forces in the process l thought that was my flying over. I then had a few flights in a microlite at Popham Airfield but only had the controls for a short while. I then had a holiday in the Isle of Wight and thats where l spotted my first paraglider in the sky above me not going anywhere as it was gale hanging. After watching for an eternity l said to my wife l am going to do that. And eventually went on a course about five years ago and l am really enjoying it but being once again unfit the walkouts were getting painful and as a consequence my XC ventures were slightly curtailed. I was now looking for something that would get me away from the hill and back again without to much exersion and a take of window that would include nil wind and no need to wait for thermals. and so over two years ago l started looking for a conversion course to Paramotoring and finally a few weeks ago now my dream became a reality. Mike
  7. Hi Dave, I'm just over 15st, about 98kgms, and a motor of about 30kgs. The wing is brilliant, comes up smoothly and very stable in flight. You can see a 55sec clip on U Tube. Just type in Mike taking off and you will see the wing rise. also with the wing tip steering l find its very relaxing on level flight, hope that is of some help to you. Regards Mike
  8. Good luck with the weather in the morning guys. (Envious) got to wait till Sunday now just hope the weather is good for that day. Fly safe Regards Mike
  9. Yep just looked at my hits on Slims video clip of me "Mike taking off" Just shows the amount of peopl;e interested in Simons web site. Weather for Saturday looking a bit iffy but if its doable l'll be there. Cheers Mike
  10. Hi Slim, Hope you get your motor sorted soon. Many thanks for the video clip, not a bad take off eh! Won't be at the airfield on Monday all, as l have relations coming over. Hope to see you all on 27th (got the day off) Mike
  11. Hi Slim, Hope you get your motor sorted soon. Many thanks for the video clip, not a bad take off eh! Won't be at the airfield on Monday all, as l have relations coming over. Hope to see you all on 27th (got the day off) Mike
  12. Hi Simon, l am very curious about the heated jacket, and the ball park figure on a price. Hope to have a look at it Sunday. Still need to accurately fit my speed bar so hoping to do both. See you Sunday, Mike.
  13. Hi Simon, yep well done on the latest venture. Hope you get your phone sorted soon, looks like your going to need it with all the extra calls your going to get. Ref our tele conv' well have a chat at the weekend. Looking forward to picking up my renewed Parajet. Regards Mike.

    GPS toys

Hi, l bought one about three years ago from the then Telford Show, at a cost of £95. Great bit of kit but you need a microscope to see it. plus all the functions are done by the little buttons on the side as in a normal watch. Great on the ground but with gloves on and controlling everything else l found it awkward, but thats my opinion on it. Better off with a standard Compass/vario/GPS on your flight deck. Mike
  15. Hi Pegasus, I am assuming that someone else ran out of petrol, as mine stopped in mid flight due to an electronic prob, and still had about three lires of fuel left, but thats getting sorted out now. In answer to your question tho' is that most PPG pilots mark there tank off in segments and the main thing is to take a mirror with you either tied to you or fixed to the inner circumfrance of the cage. and allow a little for headwind of course Regards Mike
  16. Hi all, made it back home to a long bath.....anyway had a good boat around today. The flying time was actually 45 mins (seemed longer) until my motor packed up. We narrowed it down to a busted (l think Simon called it a regulator) unit in the electronics bay behind the harness. Thanks everyone for there help in finding the fault Its going back to Parajet on Thursday and l should be PPG airborne by next Sunday. These small items can sometimes play up, or not play at all, even spark plugs can give in at a moments notice as Chris and Dave said today. As far as the Macro itself goes l can't fault it. Power when you need it just got to practice more on my forward launches, although take off today was a good one (eventually) Was it you Colin that took the video clip, look forward to seeing it. See you all again soon and safe flying. Mike
  17. Thing is Ian is that l have been told that if you dink one of the props out of the three there is a good chance the other two will dink as well. Lets just hope we have many good takeoffs and landings (Fingers crossed) Mike
  18. All, weather looks good for Sunday, hope to be at airfield about 1100. Mike
  19. Hi all, got to work to pay for all this stuff hope to be out Sunday as usual though. ..... Simon, forgo to pick up and pay for P,can and fit speed bar. Hope to accomplish this Sunday all going well. Mike

    flying

Hi all, just to let you know when we left the field yesterday Paul and Kay (white Van) took me to a site near Winchester. And after trying to reverse launch all morning to no avail, succeeded in my first forward (alpine) launch and had a good buzz around for an hour. This was my sixth launch since starting with Simon, and probably wouldn't have done it without the power of the Macro also. see you all soon Mike
  21. Again like most things its down to personnel choice, but Simon took both my rods out and in my opinion feels much better. Its not a one way street though, you can always pop them back in, and then choose. Mike

  23. Hi all, l am after a paramotor strobe light, second hand to keep the price down. Lowest new one is about £80. Willing to pay about half that if someone has a spare they are not using and it works, Mike
