Hi Simon, did you get my PM ref 180 306 Regards Mike
  2. Hi Cragrat, If my information is correct (the first part is) PG wings have all had an afnor or DHV certification before they are sold to pilots. This is also confirmed by the placard on the wing tip or centre of the wing. PPG wings on the other hand (this is the one l am not 100% sure of) but l have been told that there is no official certification. Saying that doesn't mean they are unsafe. So if you are under the wing of an instructor he will give you his best advice on what wing to purchase, which is on most occasions the wings he/she trains with. Mike
  3. Hi Leoibb, Any significant collapse is dynamic, but on wings that have reflex like the Revo or Synth in combination with a paramotor is very stable. The Tip to Tip team all flew Revo's in quite bad conditions and they all performed exceptionally well. On the other hand, when l began my PPG training with Simon l used my PG wing which is a large UP Makalu, which is quite dated now but l still fly it. it is classed as a low end DHV 1/2. On my first PPG flight l had a full frontal symetric deflation, but with a DHV 1/2 wing it was out again and flying smoothly in about 2 to 3 seconds. The only input needed was a touch on the brakes. In conclusion l now prefer a reflex wing as in the Synthesis for PPG and keep my Makalu and also an Ozone Electron for my freeflying. The opinion l get from other mainly free flyers is that if you only fly for 20 to 30 hours a year keep with a DHV 1 or 1/2. Yoiu may have read that the DHV go on to 2 and 2/3's then unclassified so you are well into a safer zone with a 1/2. Lastly these high end wings are really only for competition pilots who want that extra glide and speed to reach their goal . Hope this helps Regards Mike

    props

All, At last l have my Parajet propeller. Its now firmly fixed to my motor and l ran it up tonight to see what the ground thrust was like, seems promising (its not like the origional) can't wait now to go flying again and check it in the air. Hope the weather settles for the weekend. Mike
  5. Save a copy for me Simon, Cheers dude. Mike
  6. all, l had a few problems with forward launching at the start of my PPG flying and most new pilots have difficulty at some of the stages in flying. Even Sky gods have problems at times. but once a pilot has left the school enviroment they should be able to reverse and forward with confidence. If there is still difficulty then, within this club talk to Simon or Colin to try different methods of launching. There are several ways to do both. In a forward launch, nil wind l use a power launch method a lot, but in this and other tecniques its practice, knowledge and more practice. Its then down to that moment when all comes together and you were wondering why you ever became anxious. And l am sure most of us at the begginning had heart pounding, sweating, knackered moments, but don't forget we do this for FUN. so get out there and enjoy, and if not sure ask. Mike Happy flying
  7. Just for interest that was a chap called James from TVHGC on his SIV course. And he spoke of his ventures at one of the Club nights. He said his heatbeat was going ten to the dozen but he kept his cool and deployed succesfully. I believe he still flies. Mike

    Tip to Tip signed map

Yep, just the one map for me please. Mike
  9. All, yes a brilliant day. Had a great flight thanks to Simon lending me a spare prop. A great crowd and it was good to see paddy land with that all knowing grin across his face, Well done Keith. It got slightly gusty midday but we all chatted through it with plenty of cups of coffee and tea to drink. My first PPG since T2T, See you again soon guys and girls. Regards Mike
  10. Hi Simon, sounds good to me for Sunday, see you at the flag pole Mike
  11. all, l have had a stiff neck all day working away but also looking skywards. Its been an epic day, hope the weekend (Sun & Mon) brings good weather also. Simon, rang Andrew, the good news is they have a supplier, the bad news is they have not arrived yet so if l am down the weekend l hope to still take you up on your offer. Thanks in advance. The strobe problem that you had l believe l had the same prob a few days ago when it wouldn't light. I found that once the glass was removed and the circuit board exposed there is a green capacitor type thing and when l flicked it, it worked again and still is working. Mike
  12. ok Simon, be down next weekend (Sun or the Mon) yoiu can tell me all about your Australia trip. Mike Hopefully have my own prop posted to me by then, but if not will take you up on your offer. Cheers
  13. Cheers Simon, will give them a ring tommorow. Missed another great weekend of flyable weather on PPG. Jackie is getting peeded of with me looking at the sky and moaning haha. Had ten mins of free flying on Monday but not quite the same as l wasn't in the air long enough since T2T. Hope see ya soon Mike
  14. Hi Simon, Had to ask, have you got any propellers in stock for a Macro
  15. If you can get hold of a copy of Sky Wings there are plenty of SIV courses being advertised in the mag. One that l reccommend is by a pilot called Jocky Sanderson. He holds courses in Turkey and France. The one in Turkey, the take off is from a mountain 2000' and once airborne you can see the Blue lagoon and every landing is on a soft sandy beach. Mike
  16. All, wheather your down at Lambourn or at the Pie and Peas, the weather is looking good so hope you all get some good flying time in and for some your first flights. Still no propeller so l won't be PPG'in this weekend (work Saturdays anyway) waiting for Andrew at Parajet to give me an update next wed/Thurs I will be PG'ing locally at Mercury for a couple of hours as its quite near to me, the rest of the PG crowd are heading off to Wales. Hopefully the following weekend l will have more "me" time Take care and fly safe. Regards Mike
  17. uummm, still laughing at your great sense of humour Pete. brilliant
  18. Pete, I flicked through it and noticed some high lighter pen marks then quickly flicked it off before l got a head ache, to much info just after dinner. If the thrust gets me off the ground l'm happy, if the motor keeps going l am even happier haha. see ya soon for some happy flying eh!
  19. All, Whoever ventured to the field today probably had a whale of a time, the weather looked brilliant from my neck of the woods. Anyway l have been toying with a prop that l have had for sometime to fit to my Parajet while the grandchildren were getting ready for the airport, yep, they have been here for five days(big sigh!) Went back to Spain midday today. Anyway back to the prop, after drilling out the holes to correctly fit to my motor, after starting it up the motor seemed to want to pull away from me (weird) Have l got it on the right way so swapped it around and the same thing happened. Then it dawned on me (don't laugh) it is for a motor that turns the other way to a Parajet, so Cheep at the price of £80 to whoever has a motor that turns the opposite to a Parajet and the length is 130cms. To add that this is a repaired prop but is balanced and flyable. Regards Mike
  20. Hi Phil, firstly when you are set ready to take off make sure the front portion of the seat harness is down, this is ofcourse after you have done a hang check (l am presuming you have done this) and that when you slightly bend to a sitting position it try to put your bum in seat. Once you have taken off if you havn't slipped into your seet natural get to a safe height then park your brakes put throttle in mouth and carefully reach down and back until you find a finger hand hold in the harness and pop yourself in. Careful not to put your hands to far back for obvious reasons. Mike
  21. wet ground, bad weather, no prop still.........l need a fix fix fix fix fix Mike

    Macro

Simon, try and get down next Sun or Monday. Take you up on your offer, thanks. also noticed battery flat so charging as l type. Bathboy, nothing drastic, just had a little problem with the piston. Mike

    Macro

All, got my motor back from Parajet today. The PJ boys have done a fantastic job on it to include fixing the engine, straitening out the cage. Downside (not Parajets fault l may add) is that they still can't get hold of props. So at the moment all l can do is look at it and polish it and be patient. Up to the good news again: when they get them in PJ is going to post one onto me - what service eh!. Need to get airborne soon thou' before l forget how to fly Regards Mike
  24. Hi Norman, think the weather has got them all down, rain rain and more rain. I did put a feeler out earlier in the week but no response. probably still waiting for the Indian summer
