wodens Posted March 31, 2010 Share Posted March 31, 2010 Well my shiny new motor is still in a series of boxes as the weather has just been too foul to even think of putting the bits together. I'm hoping I can get out with the wing sometime soon to get started on my ground handling and then, when he gets back from France, I can meet up with Pete B and get the remainder of my training finished off. wodens Posted April 16, 2010 Share Posted April 16, 2010 Finally got my wing out last weekend - I was allowed to use a lovely field down at Bourton-on-the-Hill in the Cotswolds. First time I'd done anything since Airvault last March, but I was amazed just how it all came back to me and I was quite happily kiting the wing overhead, which shows just what a good instructor Alan Hunter is as all the drills were still there in my mind. Ok I managed to get a brake line wrapped around my head at one stage, but otherwise it was plain sailing until the wind picked up to ~18 mph when we had to call it a day. Going to open up the boxes this weekend and put the paramotor together. I guess as it has been sat in the shed for two months I really ought to get around to it. By the way, the Whitters technique to untangling lines also worked! Had a really bad tangle and almost panicked, but following the outermost line down really did work well. Yet another tip remembered from Airvault. Incidentally, one of the group at Bourton came up with a really simple way of keeping the lines untangled, but I shan't let on here in case it infringes a patent application....
