  1. I currently have a 22m & 26m viper 3...

I have flown the GTX a few times, I have also owned 28-26-24m Speedsters.. I found the Speedster faster and more economical than the GTX... It also thermals and free fly's much better.. That's why i have used the Speedster for many record attempts..

The Viper 3 is for the more advanced (expert) pilots for sure... It is supper efficient and climbs like a rocket.. That's why i used it for The time to climb world record attempts.. and beat them by around 20%

The viper 3 IMO is slightly slower than the speedster But it's supper efficiency meaning you can fly for much longer. Rough Glide ratio test achieved around 8-9:1 Fuel burn on the Bailey hornet was around 3lph on full fast trims.

The Hardon is not a slalom wing nor is the kougar 2... The GTX IMO oscillates like a bitch not as much as the GTR did but still annoying for XC style flying.

My spot landings have gone out the window since flying the Viper 3, She just glides and glides for ever...

Make sure you take good advice from your local dealer before purchasing a Viper 3 also go and try one!!! You are buying an uncertified wing...

  2. Hi rsquared

I was referring to the Hornet...

I am not sure how to compare both machines without sounding like a dealer trying to sell Machines.. I really like both machines and both have a great feel and good power...

As an unsponsored pilot i need to fly the Best machine i can... By best i mean best performance for comps... Being a big fan of Classic and slalom comps this make having to choose a hard task.. I May end up using one for Slalom and the other for classic comps.

Slalom requires huge power & low torque, good weight shift.

Classic comps require a slightly different approach... Good usable power balanced with good eco, Also you need a machine that is not overly heavy as there is allot of walking or transporting to and from the takeoff site before and after tasks.

Reliability is a huge part of competitions..

without proper testing i can't just choose a machine..

The Hornet has some very neat features allowing you to tune the feel of the Chassis. the arms are adjustable so you can make them wider or narrower, or for more or less torque offset, The Harness has height adjustment for the taller or shorter pilot..

The Hornet breaks down to nothing and will fit in "any" car.. The 250 on the other hand is a bit bulky with the Rad on top.. But the Hornet takes longer to set up..

The Hornet powers me up to 10k in very short time an requires very little mixture adjustment. Im not sure the 250 will be the same, Also for my light 73kg body the 250 has way to much power for TTC records. The viper 3 felt like it was so far back it was going to stall on full throttle.. early days yet so more testing to be done!!

One the other hand the 250 is on such low RPM's on cruise so should be very good on eco figures. I was averaging low 4000 rpm on cruise.. around 500-1000 less than the Hornet..

All i need now is some good weather for some testing sessions..

  3. I managed to take out one of our Mac Fly 250's for a test flight after building and setting it up...

I was so impressed I actually came back and bought it with my own money.... Rathter than have in it stock as a demo on the company.

The Power is out of this world :D I did notice "some" torque on full power But not really surprising as she is putting out 85-95 kg thrust...

A rough fuel test achieved a 50 minute flight using 2 litres on my viper 3 22m.. and only 1 litre for a quick 20 minute flight on full fast trims on my 16m Slalom. 2.5 LPH for the 22m and 3LPH for the 16m, these figures are not 100% accurate as i didn't weigh the fuel and the engine is still running rich as i'm still running her in... So i hope to be able to achieve a much better figure.. I have been told of other comp pilots getting 2LPH for a 75kg pilot on a 20m Viper 3...

The average water temps with the New Polini thermostat fitted were 59-85c.

The Sup Air harness felt really nice and snug with loads of support. The Main speed bar routing is on the inside of the harness to stop accidental reserve deployment, If you add the zip Sup Air reserve pocket Makes the reserve set up very neat and very safe... Unlike other brands the side reserve container on the Sup Air harness has a back up velcro over the zip and a safety popper.

TBH i wasn't really looking forward to using a 32kg machine again "no fuel with water".. But I was really shocked how light it actually felt.. with my reserve and 3 litres of fuel she didn't feel any heavier than my old V5 or moster Zenith..

I have some serious testing and thinking to do now for the up coming comp season what machine to use... :?::?:

  4. Hi

The Sirocco is a light weight version of the Speedster.. I have no news of the Speedster 2 or when it would be released.. "There is always a new wing on the horizon" so you will always be waiting for the next new wing to come out...

I have not flown one yet but i have been told the launch is easier with better handling.. Is it worth the Extra ££££ time will tell...

IMO you can not just add shark nose to a wing IE speedster and expect it too work well/better..

  5. Hi sergeant

1 your instructor/dealer should have explained all about the trimmers on your new wing...

The White line is mainly used for Take off (newbie setting)

Nil wind as a new pilot you should be trimming fully in for landing ..

in windier conditions i would leave on the white line..

When you have more experience and you Nailing ALL your landings i always advise landing on FULL fast "depending on the wing" some you cant use brakes on full fast...

The Ground rush is ALLOT faster  But in full fast config you have more flare authority and in those hot nil wind variable conditions coming in on full fast can make all the difference when miss judging the wind direction..

I use full fast on ALL my wing Inc my slalom 16m...

  6. Hi paul

I have relied to your post before..

Paul bailey has asked me to post on here for him as he said he has tried to post on this forum before but said his posts never appear???

Anyway.. He is aware of your issue and said if you email pb@baileyaviation.com he will help you with your problem.

You can give me a call if you like.. 07867317307

    Regards

    Mark

    Sussex Paramotors

  7. All bailey Dealers are on Baileys website.. It doesn't take a rocket scientist too work out if you can't get hold of the manufacturer then call a dealer... Bailey can not tell you who too call as that would be favourtism towards one dealer or another

It is bad that no one can contact Bailey at the moment or it's pot luck if you get through to someone.. I agree it is bad for there rep.... We had this same situation with Bulldog a year or so ago..

Alan K had some small issues with converting his second hand V5 engine from E start to manual and found it had to contact Bailey, we helped him out with advice as best as i could and the issue was sorted with some calls to Bailey..

If people want to bang there heads against a wall or call a forever ringing number thats up to them!! "Me" i would call one of there Dealers and get results...

  8. your taking my comments out of context adves

Simon ask if i can answer all technical questions same as Baileys staff... NO but i like to think i could answer most. If i don't know i will call Bailey on his mobile and get that answer!!

Same as Parajet couldn't answer "ALL" technical questions about the internals of a 200 evo or 250 but they would find out for you...

  9. whats your problem ... you asked a question i answered it.. Simon..

Adves Sorry if you took my comment the wrong way.. Parajets machines are great and have been copied many times over but they do just bolt on other peoples engines now.. even tho they make other engines for what ever top secret squirrel military projects..

they have a large work force CNC machinist office staff etc etc.. Bailey Now has two staff so your not going to gett he same fast service..

  10. I would like to think i could answer most technical questions my customers have.. If it was anything serious with the engine it would have to go back for inspection as paul likes to know what went wrong..

I think all dealers should be able to answer most technical question there customers have...

Do the Parajet crew know all technical details about all the engines they sell ?? I doubt it!!!

  11. Well i bought it from Ariel so for any suspension work i go direct to Ariel But when if i have engine trouble i don't call Mr Honda... I go to Ariel or my local Honda dealer..

Simon if paul spent his time answering the phones and emails all day no one would get any engines... Then all his customers would be complaining they weren't getting there Paramotors.. Catch 22

Bailey Has a huge customer base and a very large waiting list...

Most of the stupid questions on here could have been answered by there local dealer in a simple phone call rather than Moaning on a forum.. Im sure if you bought your machine from your local dealer he would inquire about your machine and you would have your answer in hours rather than waiting for days for a reply...

It's a free world and people can choose what they like... if you don't like the fact Bailey don't answer the phone then don't buy one!!

I don't care what people buy but i know all the bailey's i've sold have never blown up!! I have probably close too 700 hours on Bailey's and only ever had one go pop on me a V3.. and it was fully rebuilt with in 3-weeks and is still flying today..

I don't think Paramotor manufactures should sell direct to the public

  12. Simon Parajet are a big company and only bolt engines on to Chassis...

Bailey are and have always been a small company with a small work force who design and build there own engines, the Hornet was designed from scratch...

When we have an issue with one of our PJ machines we don't expect to speak with Mr Polini or one of the Vittorazi brothers we go via the UK importer/dealer... Parajet

If you have any issues with a Bailey product go Via a dealer!!!

We are or I am available 7 days a week from 8am-6-7pm some times later via Facebook for any issues our customers have.. Most issue with our customers machines are fixed the same or with in a few days if we do not have the parts..

Parajet are closed on Saturdays and Sundays and you can not speak to anyone until Monday.. I bet you can call your local dealer or any help..

I not trying to dis or promote one or another brand like you simon as i sell both, everyone knows Parajet has great customer service but have you tried to get Polini spares from Parajet in August??? "you can't as Polini is closed for a whole month in August"

when you buy a new car you go via a dealer..

  13. At the moment Bailey are low on staff and are VERY busy with The Matrix V5s and Hornet, This should be out at the end of Jan.

If they answered the phone every time it rang no one would get any of there new Paramotors or engines repaired!!

If you need Information or would like to buy a Bailey you should go to one of there top Dealers who carry stock of the parts and have good knowledge of there products.

Most of the Main dealers have easy contact with Paul for ordering parts and technical issues...

Why anyone wants to go direct or insists on going direct is beyond me.. always go via your Instructor or Local dealer.
