  1. If you go for type 2 titanium it take no more skill to weld than Stainless.. any welder worth his salt can weld stainless...

T2 Tit is stronger lighter and flexes more than most other materials.. This is one reason i started to fly and sell Mac Fly

  2. Hi Fuzzy

As a PG pilot coming across to the dark side.. or as i always say A PG pilot that has seen the light.. ;-)   You will have to try and get leaning forward on takeoff out of your system.. It took me along time and i STILL do it sometimes..  Not to put down any PG pilots out there, But normally PG pilots GH skills are nowhere near good enough for PPG, Rushing the turn, taking off without the wing stable or even directly above your head swinging as they leave the hill, This is no good in the PPG world...  so as long as you can keep the wing stable above your head for while in most conditions you will be good for a day or 3 out with an instructor...  Keeping your head up and running like John Cleese (basil)  feel very odd at first...

All the best in the cross over... If your local your more than welcome to pop down for a few hours of GH practise..

  3. I have free flown R2 speedster slalom 16m and the Viper 3 22m.. If your looking for pure performance then a PG will normally out perform your PPG wing, I've not done any Back to Back testing but i would say it is very hard to tell between two matching wings.

The bonus with a PPG wing over PG wing is when the conditions get stronger we have added speed with trimmers.

I have found that my Viper 3 and my old speedster were allot faster on the Hill ridge soaring than most of the PG wings.

  4. my carbon prop did not like its sand blasting from 2hrs of beach footdragging but the fun was worth it.

morgy- have you ever tried tape on the leading edge to protect the prop? i tried it but it didnt last long.

    Nope...

I dont seem to have any issue with blasting my prop.. I loosen of my leg straps allot and come right out of the seat..

  5. Hi

No not for that circuit but wondering if any land out options for longer trips,

Your old Moster is a thirsty old girl, drinks 5-6l per hour with a fatman riding her

I know!!! I told you my fuel burn when I sold it to you... Drinks like a fish but goes on and on... You should come down and try one of our Mac Fly machines...

For people who have not flown XC or just fancy a nice mellow bimble about... 60kms is plenty :-) nice flight, land be social, have some food, be merry and then fly again if you fancy it :-) Remember this is a Fly-in not a competition :-)

    SW :D

I never said it was a comp!!! I guess I had a baptism of fire when i started... We had some very experienced pilots in this area my Very first XC on my old Bailey V3 was a tad over 200km.. Landed for fuel food and a very long Piss....

  6. I am sure lots of you will know by now, but For those who don't.

Barry Holleran Very good friend of mine died on Tuesday 22nd while we were trying to beat his newly set UK 100km speed record and the world 100km speed record he narrowly missed out by 0.6kph last time. Barry Holleran was a Member of this forum, A UK Classic comp team member, A Uk record breaking Pilot, A good friend and a husband to Estee. He was Passionate about life and Paramotoring, Like me he slept, eat and dreamt about paramotoring. All of our spare time was spent planning XC's, XC records. Speed records, weather watching and modifying our kit..

He was always willing to help anyone who needed it and would often get into serious trouble with his wife for staying out to late while trying to fix someones Paramotor or just talking about paramotoring!!!

I know many of you on here would not have met barry but if you did you would have instantly liked him and would have been friends in no time.

This is a very sad time for his family, friends and for the everyone who knew him, a local pilot Ricky Thompson has set up a fund to help out Barry's wife Estee in this very hard time so if you feel like you would like to contribute please do.

Or if you would just like to add your condolences to this thread I will pass them on to Estee...

  7. Having people recommend Paramotors to you is pointless... IMO

I personally always ask what they want from there Paramotor and try and advise as best I can even if its a machine we don't sell

    Budget?

    All up weight

    wing size

what do you need from your motor, Pure XC or Acro slalom style.. If pure XC do you ridge and thermal soar?

Are you fit? Do you need a light motor or can you live with the heavier machines.

How are your launches and landings..

How are your mechanical skills are you able to tune the machine.

    Do you need Electric start?

Do you really need electric start???

  8. Hi

I use Putoline MX9 with the standard champion 2c plus not sure on the gap.. I just use my thumb nail..

    We sell Putoline Oil's

    sussex paramotors...

I have a ND-D 1.3m prop so ground adjustable... I use this to set for Full power for slalom comps or Higher Pitch to lower RPM's for Eco tasks for classic comps

Sorry i don't Buy into some engine run higher RPM's than others sounds like Dealer BS to me!!! unless you live at altitude.

7500rpm is not MAX RPM!! thats max power on the Curve...

I can't comment on why AC would want or recommend having an idle at 3000-3300rpm. Normal idle is around 2000-2250rpm and should return without hunting or prolonged high rpms then dropping... This tells me your setting is wrong...

  9. So I'm now on my 7th flight with the Roadster 2 - at this time, no issues, collapses, tucks or anything untoward - my only comment as a newbie would be that despite always opening the trimmers fully once in flight, I always struggle to catchup with anyone else - I guess its because of the solid/stable and lifty design of this wind, having said that I am yet to test out the speed-bar which I assume will notch me up some additional MPH.

In wind the other night, heading into the wind I managed to hit around 15mph, heading downwind I hit 43mph!

I uninstalled the speed-bar initially during my training to avoid adding elements of complexity but will get it setup and do some testing to see how much of a difference it makes.

What wing are the other pilots using? are they more experienced than you?

As a beginner you will or should be nicely placed in the weight range so will not be as fast as an experienced pilot on a more advanced wing.

What is your all up weight and what size R2 are you on?

Speed is not the be all and end all of PPG flying.. lets face it if your flying with more experienced pilots they should be slowing down for you and not leaving you way behind, I know when we take out New Low airtime pilots on an XC we have the lead and one behind incase the newbie has an issue and also so he doesn't get lost!!!

In my experience generally the fastest wings are normally the Dudek brand, But Ozone are more efficient.. I still have to test the Hadron XX VS the Viper 3...

The R2 and the New lightweight Spyder are super easy to inflate have a great trim range 50-60kph is a good ave speed and not that far off some top end wings.. I only get Ave75kph @ 120kg on my 16m slalom!

Ozone may not be the Market leaders in the PPG market in the UK but they are The leaders in PG and PPG wing technology at the moment, Everyone is going over to Shark nose tech...

  10. why would they join if they live too far away from membury and couldn't attend the fly in's.. what else is there on offer?? have i missed something?

If your going to limit people to only posting X amount before they HAVE to join.. I think you will loose more people than you will attract and you will loose some very knowledgable people,

There are loads of Free Facebook groups

Parafest started out as a Group of guys bitching on Facebook then to a few F*ck work fly in's to the second Parafest, this years is billed to be Huge!!!

Sussex Paramotors sponsored the PMC forum for a couple of years so I am a fan of your site.

Leave it optional thats just my 2p..

  11. I cant comment on your fuel burn as your on a flex wing trike but 10lph???

I get 8-8.1lph full throttle on my ppg....

I am not sure why your dealer has told you to swap carbs? as far as i was aware the new carbs were just new carbs.. not for a re call or any problems... We have had no unhappy customers with new or old style carbs

If your RPM is only 6700 you have to much Pitch in your prop or your running really rich!!!!

I set my engine to 7500 RPM or MAX Power output not max RPM

put a thermostat in your motor then you do not have to cover the rad...

1700 idle is way to low... 1950-2100 rpm

    I fly slow trim at 3800-4000 rpm @ 2lph

    5300 rpm @ 3lph

    7500 rpm 8lph
