  1. For me Parajet Maverick was the default choice but I went for the Nitro because I liked the design, thought that reliable estart with no weight penalty was a great benefit, and the pre- and post-sales support I received from Vince was superb. Also I tried very hard to find people with Nitro issues and came up with pretty much nothing. Aviator PPG have been running them for a while with students and they did a 100-hour video review in which they reported either no faults at all, or maybe one or two trivial things - I can't remember. I pack mine away after every flight and it all fits in the boot.
  2. I damaged my wing a while back and wanted to share my experience of Aerofix, where I sent the wing for repair. From the get-go they were friendly, professional and kept me informed at all times. Their shipping process was very simple and efficient. As soon as the inspection had been done they called me to discuss repair options, and were very clear and pragmatic about the different choices. I was worried that being an Ozone Spyder they might not have the correct lightweight fabric and lines in stock, but they did - and so despite them being really busy at the moment they still managed to turn it round really quickly so I could carry on flying through the winter. They found some additional damage which I wasn't even aware of, including two A-lines that had snapped cores, but still had intact sheaths so they looked fine. From what they were saying this is quite unusual, and clearly it could have been extremely dangerous (if not lethal) - I'd have got the wing back, kited it to check everything out - and it would have seemed fine. Then I'd have launched... It's even more impressive because I had told them that the lines probably didn't need inspection since it was only a single line that had got caught in the prop. I don't give praise readily (because I generally don't think it's deserved!) but they really surpassed my expectations in every way. I can't recommend them highly enough based on my experience with them. Absolutely fantastic service. Quote this
  3. Actually it was a guy I trained in Spain with who made the call. But I will try and get more details.
  4. How do they cope with the wind noise?
  5. It's really simple - the bolts that hold the arms on are turned round so they point outwards, the arms then slot on from the outside and are secured with a washer and large locking wingnut. Undo the wingnut, pull arm off, job done.
  6. I have just been told Dunsfold have said they will let paramotors fly as long as they are contacted a day in advance (since they have stuff going on sometimes). However the owner is trying to get permission to build homes on it (decision imminent) and word has it if that falls through he's selling it to a film studio. So not sure how long it will remain an option. Greg
  7. I have one for my AC Nitro but you need the optional quick release arms on the Nitro for it to fit. It's a great solution and it means I can leave it permanently in the car boot...
  8. Hmm, wonder how tough this is: https://www.flags-flagpoles-banners.co.uk/product/spiked-base-for-portable-flagpoles?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpfWYpvqv1wIVRCjTCh0tQQrREAQYASABEgLT1fD_BwE
  9. Interesting, thanks. http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/fencing-stakes Also interesting that you're using it upside down, but the way you're using it you have something to stand on to press it in... Nice!
  10. Hi Brian - that sounds interesting - would like so see further details. I presume the pipes are filled with something heavy?
  11. Maybe something like this would work http://www.flagpoleexpress.co.uk/feather-flag-bases
  12. Any other ideas? All this winter flying going on, people must have some solution... Simon's metal spike would work but not sure how easy that would be to remove afterwards.....
  13. How do you erect a windsock pole when the ground is hard?
  14. Yeah I think if the wind were in the right direction it would be fine, but of course I have to assume it's perfect when I take off, and then it swings round by 90 degrees. Hey, this might be the perfect sport for me - where assuming the worst will always happen actually makes sense and is helpful!
  15. Thanks Hann. Actually the reason I'm asking is I'm very inexperienced! Best regards Greg
  16. Still couldn't add another photo so I've deleted the first one and hopefully that will allow this one:
  17. Thanks Andre. That's exactly why I didn't upload anything! There's a second field I want to upload too but for some reason I have very limited space for uploads (hint hint Simon)
  18. The more I look at helmets the more inclined I am to get something that doesn't have anything stuck on the outside. It's not just the snagging risk but also the potential effect on head protection (as mentioned in another post). I guess the Sena 10R units are very low profile and unlikely to snag or penetrate the helmet, but my ideal remains something with no external stuff stuck on. I guess a proper set of headsets would be fine.
  19. Looks very neat. How are the cables routed to the headset?
