  1. That would be interesting to see..."strings and sticks" making some of these intricate designs....
  2. I just watched a very interesting documentary about crop circles, and it got me thinking that, now as it is approaching summer in England, which is renowned for crop circles.... .....they are best observed from the air, which we have the ultimate tool (toy) to do the observation. Are there any members who have videos or photos of flying over these creations, and more so, does anyone have any theories as to their creations, albeit manmade hoaxes or whatever? A very interesting subject that is best observed with a paramotor......any thoughts??? Cheers.
  3. A pity you didn't have a gopro and film her. Sounds like another crazy nutjob who has no idea about what our sport entails. Good luck with the police. Cheers.
  4. Thanks for the reply Morgy, That was not bias in any way, and you didn't sound like a "dealer". I appreciate your reviews and also a good insight into the different aspects required for the different style of comps. Good luck for the upcoming comps. Cheers.
  5. Great review Morgy. So how does the Mac250 compare to the Bailey Hornet? Is that what you are referring to as to which machine you'll be using for the upcoming comps? Cheers.
  6. Just for your viewing pleasure for those who are grounded due to poor weather etc. Enjoy. Cheers. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=81 ... =2&theater
  7. My dreams are not that scary.....talk about "white out"...more like "brain out".
  8. Seriously!.....this bloke needs to be taken away by men in white coats. I feel sorry for his wife and children who have lived with this lunatic and maybe too scared to say anything.
  9. To be fair, they're aimed at completely different skill-sets/markets. The Roadster 2 is a beginner to late-intermediate wing (EN-B at slow trim), whilst the Viper 3 is an late-intermediate-advanced wing only. +1
  10. Here is your Fresh Breeze Exitor in action Gordon..... Looks good. Cheers.
  11. Thanks for the replies......keep them coming. I agree with you Alan and I reckon all would have the same desire of a backyard suitable for take-offs and landings. Cheers. Rob.
  12. With so many manufacturers to choose from these days, it can be daunting for the newcomer, or frustrating for the experienced. So I would like to open up a discussion that frees the boundaries of money. So......if money was not an issue ( you can choose any wing, any motor, any frame ) all the worries of spare parts, local service, repairs etc, do not matter.....what would your "dream kit" consist of? I understand that some have not flown with anything else other than what they have now, and are quite happy with that....knowing what you know now, would you change?.....would you want something more modern?....or are you happy with the good old reliable kit you have now. I do condone the fact that it is always better to "try before you buy"....but most of us do not have that luxury of having a dozen gliders and motors at our disposal so that we can pick and choose. I just want to make this a bit of fun and get some different perspectives on what is out there. So.....to start it off, I'll give you my Dream Kit.....a Bailey V5S in a Matrix frame, just because the frame is new and looks great, plus I am a big fan of 4 strokes. As for my wing, I believe the "Shark Nose" concept is the way of the future...so I would like to test fly the Viper 3 from Ozone and also the Kougar 2 from Nuvuik to decide which one. So....if money was not an issue.....what would your dream kit be? Have Fun. Cheers.
  13. Ok......one last time. I am only talking about paramotors, not bi-planes, not Red Arrows, not free flying acro pilots....how simple do I have to make this? Hope you all appreciate the fact that you can fly while the rest of us can only dream. Cheers.
  14. Ok, maybe I didn't explain it very good. I have no problem with the Red Arrows.... I have no problem with acro pilots that have coloured smoke canisters strapped to their ankles..... When I see white smoke spewing out the exhaust of an engine.....I do not see a "display", I see pollution or a "blown engine". Maybe if the smoke was coloured....then I might see a "display". That's it for me. Cheers.
  15. Wow! It must stem from my free-flying days.....fresh air, just the sound of the wind through your risers and all that. If people enjoy it, then let it be....did not expect these responses, but I do appreciate them all the same. Cheers. Rob.
  16. Thanks guys......I do understand that it is for display purposes, when done at 500 feet above the ground it is ok. Some of the footage I have seen is done close to the ground....and the lingering aftermath of the smoke diminishes the effect of the "display". Cheers.
  17. Unlike all you lucky fellow members who can fly......me, I am still grounded until I sell some land and get some cash....then look out! So, in the meantime, I am restricted to fulfilling my ambitions of flying to watching videos of those who can fly. What gets my goat, and I really cannot understand the meaning behind it, is that pilots choose to add a "smoke machine" to their paramotor. What is worse.....is that these pilots do it in an environment with huge publicity, annual events, fly-ins, and promotional fairs. Am I missing something here? To me.....if we want to promote our sport to the general public, so as to attract new pilots, as well as be accepted for what we do.....in this "environmentally fragile" awareness, spewing out smoke (regardless of how harmless it may be) while flying in some of the worlds most beautiful locations....does not paint a pretty picture. If I was a spectator at one of these events, (and knew nothing about our sport) and watched in fascination, these guys flying around, then all of a sudden they started spewing out this smoke stream....I would first think, there is something wrong with the machine and also be thinking about the pollution it was creating......then afterwards when it became obvious that the smoke was deliberate, I would ask.....Why the smoke? Ok...I have had my rant, thank you. Any comments? Agree or disagree? I am curious to know what the rest of you guys think. Cheers. Rob.
  18. I really enjoyed that.......also gave me a higher appreciation of what Simon has just been through with his heli training. Cheers.
  19. Thanks Pete, you've just made my day with your comment......"I fly a Bailey, because I believe 2 stroke engines are a work of pure evil." Coming from someone who has over 35 years experience with 2 strokes, and chooses to fly a 4 stroke, (meaning you Pete), that speaks volumes in my book. Cheers. Rob.
  20. Found this, and I would love for this guy to address an audience comprised of paramotor pilots. He mainly focuses on his photographic side, and his adventures...not to mention being arrested more times than he cares to admit. To be able to tap into his experiences with respect to PPG....I reckon he could write a book. But saying that...I deep down think that he considers PPG a tool, or an accessory for his main purpose....photos. Still an enjoyable presentation. So if you have 20 minutes to spare...sit back and enjoy. Cheers.
  21. G'day Paul (padeakin), Thanks for your reply. I live out in the sticks called Pong Krating, just checked on Google Earth and in a straight line I am about 540km SW of Kalasin. The free flying I would like to do is "flying with the motor till I find good lift, turn the motor off and then when I can no longer stay up...pull the cord and power up again." I know I am dreaming at the moment, but I am currently grounded due to lack of finances, so I am trying to research what is available to me here in Thailand. By all reports the Dudek Nucleon does sound like a good wing. Thanks. Rob.
  22. Have also found this review from Shane of Team Fly Halo....a bit lengthy but he covers all aspects ( I like reviews like this). http://flyhalo.com/2012/10/gin-mirage-r ... ng-review/ Cheers.
  23. Firstly, I applaud this guy for sharing his mistake with the rest of the world. Secondly, he is the luckiest bloke I have seen....how he got up and walked away with barely a scratch is just unbelievable.
  24. G'day Paul, Thanks very much for your reply. I feel like a cat on a hot tin roof....there are so many good gliders out there at the moment, I am grounded due to lack of finances, but when that changes....how long is a piece of string?? So at the moment, the Mirage is on the top of my list (only cause I can easily get it locally), then the new Kougar 2 by Niviuk looks very impressive....but no agents in Thailand. So in the meantime....I'll just sit back and watch all you lucky people flying...knowing soon I'll be there amongst you. Fly Safe. Cheers.
  25. Thanks Morgy, Trust me....I would love to spend a week or more test flying your range of demos....problem is I am still waiting for that lotto cheque to come through. No bugs bunny at the moment...but when I get financial I will gladly come knocking on your door. Cheers.
