  1. Stevie.....I know it must be painful, but you have piqued my curiosity. Would you be so kind as to share with us those traumatic 3 minutes....or have you posted it before. Just another leaf in the never-ending file of experiences that the rest of us can learn from. Cheers. Rob.
  2. Do I hear "Bailey" purring on the breeze???? .....and btw Morgy....any reports on the V5 S yet? Cheers.
  3. Grab a favourite drink....sit back....relax for the next 20 minutes....and enjoy. Cheers. https://vimeo.com/35279062 [vimeo] [/vimeo]
  4. As you have said before Simon..(and I agree 100%) always be aware of your surroundings, more so when you are flying in unfamiliar territory. Eyes wide open!
  5. Sorry Paul....I can't answer your question. I just want to comment on the reason the guy is selling it.....he prefers free flying ( which I can relate to...as I do too), but he has not bothered to switch the engine off and free fly sites that are not usually available to free flyers? I am gobsmacked that this guy has not discovered the full potential of both motorised and free flight. Just my thoughts....once again Paul I apologise for hijacking your thread.....happy flying. Cheers, Rob.
  6. These guys are having way too much fun! [vimeo] [/vimeo]
  7. Good video.....more ppg pilots should practice free flight more often, even try thermalling. It just expands the horizons of an already amazing sport.....just my humble opinion. Cheers.
  8. I find this one a good explanation to our non-flying friends as to show them that we are not "mad", but on a never ending adventure......called life, and enjoying it. [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]
  9. Agreed......it is very quiet......and no it is not you Neilzy. Maybe the weather?
  10. Whale oil beef act! Gordon....I did the ice in the water trick....and it did not overflow! I stand corrected. Thank you for that. I love learning new things...or as in this case, expanding my mind outside its pre-conceived ideas. Cheers. Rob.
  11. I agree ice is less dense than water. You are forgetting that the portion of ice floating above the water level ie the level of the glass, once melted adds to the total volume, hence....the glass overflows. I know splitting hairs.....but I don't agree with the theory that if the polar ice melts the sea level will drop. Cheers.
  12. Sorry Gordon but your theory is bogus.......simply fill a glass to the rim with water and ice....wait for the ice to melt....the level does NOT drop...the glass overflows! Cheers.
  13. I just want to say a great big thank you to Paramotor Magazine. I did not receive issue 40 in the mail. I am old fashioned and I still like to have a real magazine in my hands. Since I live in Thailand, the postal service here is not all up to scratch, and quite often I hear of mail being "lost". So just to make sure, I sent an enquiring email to Paramotor Magazine asking if they could check their records and confirm that they sent me the magazine....if so, then I'll just put it down to another "lost" item in the Thai postal system. Celine, who responded to my email was very helpful. She tried to send me another issue 40, to replace my lost one, but then she was told by her shipping services department that there were no more issue 40's available. So then she sends me the connection page to Zino, so I can electronically download issue 40 and read it on my computer. Not only that, she added one more subscription to my account free of charge....all for my inconvenience....which was by no fault of the magazine. So once again thanks to Paramotor Magazine, I cannot praise them high enough. Cheers. Rob.
  14. Some gut feeling tells me that it won't concern any of us too much.....well at this stage.
  15. Yes, I confess I also forced myself to watch that video. Not only was he teaching students after 10 days to do a tandem, but the tandem passenger was DS's own wife.....and she wasn't wearing a helmet either! Another note, he also had his students doing SAT's, something in my humble opinion should only be attempted with a helluva lot more experience than his students had. Cheers.
  16. I've seen worse. Very slow descent under reserve....which is a GOOD thing. I remember my first static line jump from 2,500 feet....I landed faster than that, under a round canopy. I would say he has had a good day.....sorry to contravene you Simon. Cheers.
  17. Well said Richard, and also congrats on your first flight. Many times I have tried to describe to friends what it is like to fly, but they just can't appreciate what I am saying. It's one of those things that you have to try for yourself to really understand what it's all about. Cheers. Rob.
  18. That looks nasty. What type of motor and how many hours please Alan? Cheers.
  19. Thanks for sharing the video George, we can all learn from mistakes made not only by ourselves but also others. Just from my armchair, looks like you didn't have any flair authority......I could only detect a small movement in your arms. Glad you are ok to fly another day. Cheers. Rob.
  20. All well and good.....but there is one flaw in his advice. "Find out what you want to do in life and just do it....don't worry about money." Well Einstein....I know what I want to do....I want to fly every day, but I am retired and have no money to buy a kit to allow me to do what I want to do. Easy to say "live your dreams....or follow your dreams", but as we all know, it all requires money, and most of us have to do things that we don't enjoy, in order to make the money to allow us to do the things that we do enjoy. Safe and Happy Flying to All. Cheers.
  21. Thanks Pat, I enjoy reading your continued progress. One question....now you have experienced some decent headwinds and played around with your trimmers....I noticed you haven't got your speed bar attached, that is also useful in windy conditions and good to "play around" with so you can get to know what added effect it has on your ground speed and glide path. Safe flying Have a Happy New Year Pat. Cheers. Rob.
  22. G'day Andy....listen to Stevie, he is 100% correct! Cheers.
  23. Seriously!........What is wrong with these people!!!!!!? I like extreme sports.....but I am at loss for words with this.
  24. I did enjoy......thank you so much for sharing. You guys have way too much fun. (just a tad bit jealous since I'm stuck on the ground). Cheers.

Well said Jock....my apologies, I misunderstood your purpose of your post. Now reminds me of the movie "The worlds fastest Indian" with Anthony Hopkins....how inspirational was that....and correct me if I am wrong but that record he set still stands. I now have more respect for your video. Cheers.
