WOW and me now.
time travel at last..
-
why are you both posting in April
2007?
-
Guy's I've heard 'rumours' that Simon is turning this event into a w/end fly-in too
That will be even better now - it's great how rumours spread and spread, then eventually comes true and we all have a great w/end.
Tony
Not sure about that Tony as it is a very busy airfield.

From Sky paragliders
This wing is covered by certification of Cima K2.
It should be clearly stated on the label and will be modified accordingly.
All the best

Sounds nice.

I dont know him but he has good feedback and I would say he is with a school.
Contact him and ask which school hes with and I can find out more then.

115 miles crickey at my weight i'd need a tanker lol
I got a 46 synth you could use.

And the latest reply...
Misha, at Sky, says they make it as OEM for Paraglider Mall (US inc) who own the design. Seems Dell has purchased the design of the K2 and Sky are making it for him. Provide he has not altered the line lengths or risers (beyond adding trimmers) it should perform just like a K2 with the same build quality and would be Afnor Standard so your man should have no worries if that really is the case

Happy to man a ground station and let others enjoy the fun

Just got this from a friend.
The Dominator appears to be a K2 copy. Dell Shanze is reported to have a licence to produce the K2 now that Sly no longer do so. Where it is made or by whom no-one seems to know. It may be made by Sky for Dell or he may be passing it off as Sky because he has a licence.
Whether it is a good wing or not is not easy to say without seeing it's build and checking it's flight character. The K2 is certainly a very good glider but even if it is made to the K2 pattern the line lengths may have been modified to re-trim it in some way so it could be a completely different character to the K2. I can find no record of any certification for it.so it is impossible to tell.

If you have loads of hours submit your log book to BHPA head office (Mark Dale I think)
if you dont have a log book you will have to do a few flights for an assessment.
then its the simple exams.
-
"simon, spigot and pete, you repeated history by jumping on it and telling us how the bhpa are so bad and selfish and how they exclude everyone who is not a member of their 'exclusive' club.... tut tut."
Can you please show where I am anti BHPA?
I am am have been a paid member since about 2004 and continue to be so.
I just don't agree with the way they do some things so if thats bhpa bashing then perhaps I should not support them with my membership and really go to town on the bashing front.
PLEASE NOTE SMILEY FACE.

Hi
The only reason i can think of is it will be the first Slalom comp in the UK and You could call it a test Comp. If you want to spectate sign up to be a marshal...
Having no public there will make organisation and set up a lot easier.
I do hope there will be spectators allowed at the next comp. So us ellitist pilots can show off...
Just my thoughts
will you have to be a bhpa member to spectate?
-
From what I can gather it is just competitors bhpa members
-
Or the could just all be very shy.
-
no spectators...
whats that all about ?
Safety and not having to look after them, or a condition of the insurance.
-
Morgy
I don't see anti BHPA I see pilots that for whatever reason do not want to join the BHPA as there are BHPA pilots that do not want to join the PMC.
I have entered a few comps and think everyone should have a go just to see if it is the sort of thing that they would like.
I fly for fun and found the comps were not fun due to the amount of prep for each task, pilots trying to interpret the rules to their own advantage
and the very limited free flying window available to non comp pilots.
Perhaps the Slalom will be more fun without the prep ect but my old bones heal very slowly these days and I know I would push it to the limit.
I will get to come see one some time but it wont be before Xmas.
Pete.

Butting in here,.
Firstly, I will definitely be getting mine mounted by some one who knows what they are doing, but I'm intrigued by the "big rubber O rings for the mallions " reference.
Can you explain that easily in writing or have you got to see it?
Put O ring on to mallion then the bridal, put a half twist in the O ring and put it on the mallion tighten mallion.
They idea is that the O ring holds the bridal tight to the mallion to stop it slipping/sliding during deployment which could cause friction/heat enough to weaken the bridal.
Same idea on your wings lines.

What're the thermals like over solar panels?

I think it should be the first to pay gets in, as there will be some with their names down that will leave paying to the last minute then drop out .
If you're entering then paying now should not be a problem.
