  1. I cannot help thinking that this is a very relevant post and I relate to it totally. Although I have had only a few hours on this type of aircraft, I already know that I'm going to be a similar pilot to Cambodia (plodder). Mainly because I get motion sickness Thanks for the alternative viewpoint Cambodia. Dan
  2. Thanks Simon. I hope that experienced pilots and instructors, people who have been paramotoring for a few years, can see what I believe is happening here. Wing technology is evolving rapidly and manufacturers are sat up listening and doing their best to give pilots what they want, which (newbie or experienced pilots), includes all of my above points and this is where the newbie confusion kicks in. Whereas, just a few years ago, an intermediate wing would probably have very little about it that would tempt a beginner to even consider buying one. All that has changed now and I think that experienced pilots are loving the new 'friendlier' intermediate wing in that it seems to give the best of both worlds. But, many of the points that are appealing to the experienced pilot are the same points that would appeal to a beginner. Certainly this has been the case for me. Simon's post (especially the bits I've quoted and highlighted) is really important, and for me, completely explains why I need to stop looking at the Fusion (for now ), and will buy a Revo. I hope the above makes sense and I would welcome some input from some beginners (less than 5 hrs) to confirm that it's not all in my head alone Cheers Dan
  3. This "Fusion" business really needs to be cleared up once and for all. Maybe experienced pilots aren't seeing it from the perspective of a beginner, so, as a beginner with an 8 day course under my belt and very little experience, I am looking to buy a wing that ticks the following boxes: Comes up nicely. Easy and to launch, even in nil wind. Stable in the air. Stable in turns. Good speed range. Slow to land. Potential to do more with the wing as my experience grows, without having to shell out for another wing. Does this describe the Fusion? because I have read so many comments on this forum that describe it exactly as per above. Simon, you in fact you have highlighted the fact that it lands slower than a dhv1 paraglider. I gather the wing is much less docile than say a Revo and is probably incredibly responsive and needs a delicate touch. Sorry if I'm not getting the point , but I need someone to point out specifally, what would be waiting for me in the sky that would make me wish I'd settled for a Revo. Maybe someone will use the 'powerful motorbike and new rider' comparison. I ride a Blackbird and would not recommend this bike to a beginner.... because the sheer physical size and power would make it a real handful. I'm not doubting the advice so much as wishing to fully understand the warnings more clearly, especially in light of Cambodia's post. Would love to clear up the con-fusion Cheers Dan
  4. That was excellent to watch. Thanks for putting in the effort and posting it. By the way, what was the music track? It went very well with the footage. Dan
  5. Thanks Simon I would really love that. Not just to try the various wings out, but to meet a few of the guys on the forum that I seem to have so much in common with......unfortunately it's a bit of a trek from Southern Spain However, if you ever find yourself in this part of the world, let me know and the kettle will be boiling That offer goes to any of the guys on here whos advice I rely on so much. Cheers Dan
  6. Ahh I see. That makes a lot of sense to me. Good luck with the motor thermalling. Would be great to hear how you get on. Cheers Dan
  7. I am also looking at these two wings (as well as a Fusion) and was wondering, why did you change what appears to be more or less like for like? Dan
  8. Hi Anyone using a BakRak? Are they any good, or would I be better off going with the more expensive Thule? Thanks Dan
  9. How did you get on with your boots? Worth 140 squid? Thinking of getting a pair. Dan

    Shopping

Hi. I'm staying near Bury/Bolton at the moment. Does anyone know of any shops that sell paramotor gear in the area (within about 50 miles radius). I need to buy a paramotoring helmet and don't really want to risk buying without trying it on. Many thanks Dan

  12. What exactly are you prop-osing Thanks for the link Pete. Spot on! Just ordered some Dan
  13. Does anyone know of a product to protect your propeller from being ground away by sand when launching from a sandy beach. Or is it ok to use something like duck tape on the leading edge? Would it effect performance? I saw a carbon fibre prop yesterday with only 30 minutes use off a sandy beach. Let's just say the prop was no longer new It seems that as you run you kick up sand behind you, straight into the prop. Cheers Dan
  14. Pete I want to delete it in light of new information, and that was all I needed. The post was only intended to warn of what I thought may have been a possible bad deal on Ebay, not to slag off someone for not getting back to me. As it's someone known on the 'scene', it's highly unlikely to be anything untoward. Maybe I'll have a bid now
  15. Ah! Thanks for that Pete. Would have been nice to get a reply though. Is it possible to delete this post?
  16. I've been interested in this auction finishing tomorrow: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250581697212&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT A few days ago I sent a message as follows: Hi I understand that you say the wing is almost unflown, but do you have anything to substantiate this claim? Also, can you tell me: a)When was this wing purchased. b)Do you have any proof of purchase c)Has it had any gound handling? d)How much exposure to sun has it had? I don't mean to sound disbelieving of your description, or so pedantic, but I don't know you and have just completed my training and told never to trust a used wing unless it's been pro inspected. It's really difficult to buy a wing and trust your life with it from someone you don't know, so please bear with me with my questions. Many thanks Dan I have recieved no reply to date, so I rang the number (no reply) left a message to contact me or answer my questions. Nothing. Are these unfair questions to ask? I didn't think so. I'm only posting this to bring to the attention of anyone thinking of bidding on it. I may be completely wrong and the guy is genuine but maybe took offence at how my questions came across. Doesn't make me confident about bidding though. It's a shame because that's exactly what I'm after Dan
  17. Hi I'm thinking of getting a Bak-Rak carrier to fit on my tow hook to shift my PPG around. Can anyone who uses this method tell me how they safely secure the paramotor to the rack. I gather I would need some sort of quick release u-shaped clamps Where do you buy these from? Also any experienced based warnings about this method. Thanks Dan
  18. Ahh. Thanks for the clarification. Interesting story Alan. There's no doubt, you need to be pretty tenatious to get the most out of this sport. I am still interested to know who has been flying paramotors (not paragliders) the longest. Maybe someone with more site tech knowledge could set up a poll starting at 2009 and going back to... whenever PPG got off the ground (or not). Also interested to know how many hours pilots have accrued. Any volenteers? Dan
  19. Hi Alan It's interesting that, relatively speaking, you've been at it for quite a long time, probably longer than most on the site. Anyone been at it longer? Do you feel that the equipment you're using today (wing /engine) is that different to the stuff you used back then? If so, in what way? Cheers Dan

If you're interested in latest technology, check out this website. It's excellent http://www.gizmag.com Dan
  21. Thanks Shaggydec, Ian and Alan for getting back to me, I appreciate your advice. Think it's going to be a Berlingo or Doblo. Not sure about the Mits. Not too many around. Cheers Dan
  22. Hi Chaps Thinking of buying a cheap 2nd vehicle (we're a one car, 1 scooter, 1 Blackbird family) and the missus 'n' littl'un always get the car, so was wondering if anyone reckons they have or know of, the perfect paramotor shifting vehicle. Not bothered about pretty, just that it is majorly practical and can swallow a PAP Ros 125 (1400) whole. Anyone use a Fiat Doblo or similar. Got about £2k to spend. PS. Anyone want to buy an immac, fully Givi loaded, loved but not used 2005 Blackbird with 6k on the clock (£4300 ovno)? Cheers Dan
  23. Well, it would seem from this video, that if an aircraft is powerful enough it can fly along on one wing [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]

    Brilliant joke!

A young man called Chris from London wanted to buy a Christmas present for his new girlfriend. They hadn't been seeing each other for very long and she lived in Scotland . Chris consulted with his sister and decided, after careful consideration, that a pair of good quality gloves would strike the right note... not too romantic and not too personal. Off he went with his sister to Harrods and they selected a dainty pair of fur lined quality leather gloves. His sister bought a pair of sexy knickers for herself at the same time. Harrods had a free gift wrap offer but the assistant mixed up the two items, the sister got the gloves and Chris unknowingly got the knickers. Good old Chris sent off his gift wrapped present in a parcel with the following letter. Dear Maggie, I chose these because I've noticed that you are not wearing any when we go out in the evenings. If it had not been for my sister I would have chosen the long ones with buttons, but she wears shorter ones (which are easier to remove). These are a very delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me the pair she had been wearing for the past three weeks and I hardly noticed any marks. I had her try yours on for me and she looked really smart in them even though they were a little bit tight on her. She also said that they rub against her ring which helps keep it clean. In fact she hasn't needed to wash it since she began wearing them. I wish I was there to put them on for you the first time, as no doubt many other hands will touch them before I have a chance to see you again. When you take them off remember to blow into them a little bit because they will be naturally a little damp from wearing. Just imagine how many times my lips will kiss them during the coming year. I hope you will wear them for me on our next date. All my love, Chris P.S. My mum tells me that the latest style is to wear them folded down with a little bit of fur showing.
