  1. You don't realise how important certain things are until they're taken away> Mind you, the missus was happy about it at first..... until I re-took command of the TV remote Well done all of you that were involved in sorting out the intrusion Dan
  2. Hi Simon I'm on a 26 Revo2 and weigh 83kg (about 125kg all up). The range of the 26 R2 is 80 - 185, so I'm just under half way, which probably explains the higher speed. It's a big fly/no fly deciding factor for me. If my back feels a bit stiff or susceptable, it's a no-go, 'cause I know that I'll regret it when my back goes and I can't fly for a couple of weeks. This growing old lark f****n' stinks Life's like a bog roll. When it's new you think it will last forever, but when you're half way through it seems to run out really quickly Ta for your much appreciated words of wisdom Dan
  3. Completely relate. My experience exactly, even the shorter take off!
  4. That is a crackin' video! It illustrates your pointers superbly. All advice taken onboard with much appreciation. I think the problem is that, as a novice, I think everybody will be as enthralled with my flying experience as I am, and that is clearly not the case. Watching your video, I get this now. Thanks very much. Dan
  5. I find exactly the same with my Revo2. I guess you can't have it all ways. I was very happy with my average 30mph speed and 50mph top speed the other day, but the nil wind landing, as you describe was very fast. For me with my dodgy spine, it presents me with my lower backs worse case scenario ie being sat still for around 50 minutes then suddenly having to hit the ground running with almost 50% extra weight to bear. Dan
  6. Thanks Alan. There are a great bunch of 5 or 6 Spanish PPG's in the immediate area, but no English. Not such a bad thing as it makes me practice my Spanish.
  7. You may already know about this, but it really helped me this morning with correcting the aspect ratio on my uploaded video. You simply type in one of the following into the tag section: yt:crop=16:9 (zooms in on the 16:9 area, removes windowboxing) yt:stretch=16:9 (fixes anamorphic content by scaling to 16:9) yt:stretch=4:3 (fixes 720x480 content that is the wrong aspect ratio by scaling to 4:3) yt:quality=high (default to a high quality stream, depending on availability) ....and finally, another video from Spain. Sorry if they're getting a little boring, I'm still in the novelty stage and trying to get better at the PPG video lark. (any constructive feedback more than welcome, as you tend to get a bit blind to your own mistakes ) [youtubevideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU2XOkY1uvs[/youtubevideo] (as always, switch to 720p or 1080p, full screen, and let it buffer for about 5 minutes for a smooth viewing) Cheers Dan
  8. I was definitely not complaining about my wing. As I said I absolutely love it to bits. After all, it takes in its stride all of my beginners cockups without any fuss, and as a result it inspires confidence. If I had to make a choice between slipping trimmer buckles or very firm trimmer buckles, i'll go for the latter any day. I simply wondered if I was doing something wrong. Happy camper
  9. That's exactly what happened! You're right, it's not brilliant for a beginners wing. However, I love my Revo2 so much, that I am willing to overlook this and put it down to something that will ultimately make me a better pilot. Brake handles modified after a chat with MCJ. Will try a combination of the 3 tips Thanks for the help
  10. All sorted, pictures posted. Thanks Alan and Simon. Dan
  11. It is mentioned in another thread http://www.paramotorclub.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5509 Cheers for the advice, appreciated muchly
  12. It's probably a bit of a fundamental question, but I don't know the answer, so I'll ask anyway Is it normal to need two hands to pull the trimmers in for landing etc or is it just my particular wing (Revo2). I've just started to experiment with the trimmers. My training didn't include anything about trimmers, so I'm learning as I go along. However, I made myself feel really sick the other day trying to pull the trimmers back in. Any tips? Ta v much Dan
  13. Whilst I figure out how to post photos, here's the movie... (as per usual, watch on YouTube at 1080p, but let the whole thing buffer, blah, blah, blah) [youtubevideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NckLuzJfT-o[/youtubevideo] Dan
  14. Hi Alan Thanks for your help, but that was the first thing I tried. What I get is a box with image written in it and a red cross ie it won't display the image. Not sure if this is a setting I need to change on my pc? Thanks Simon Only problem with this, is I'm being asked to crop all of my photos, which if I have to I will, but would rather not The message says: The image must be at least 0 pixels wide, 0 pixels high and at most 1200 pixels wide and 1200 pixels high. The submitted image is 1600 pixels wide and 1027 pixels high.. Any way raround this? Sorry to be a pain
  15. Sorry to seem dumb guys, but can someone spell out to me exactly how to get a series of pics to display in a post. Not a link, but an actual picture. I have a Picasa web album account with my pics on it. If I cannot get my images to display from Picasa, which online album do I need to get. Tell me like you're telling a 5 yr old ie point by point, 'cause I've been trying for 20 minutes (concentration span of 5 yr old ) Ta Dan
  16. Nice bit of editing Phil. Not that I'm an expert, but I know that although the end result makes the whole process look a breeze, that actually it takes a lot of time and patience to bring all that raw footage together into the length of one song. So, well done you. Thanks for sharing Cheers Dan
  17. That definitely sounds better than my GoPro which just plays all my files straight away. How boring, and I've got nothing to look forward to in the morning
  18. You watch, he'll probably be President one day. Wacko country, wacko citizen!
  19. Thanks Alan. It sooo nice to finally be flying. The beaches here are great in the winter, as in empty It's a bit different in August
  20. You're absolutely right Whitters, there was about 5 minutes where I thought if my donkey packs in now, it could get interesting Apart from those precarious few mins, there are more golf courses than you can throw a stick at around here. Cheers for the concern. ps finally found the right setting to edit the video in HD (i've redone it so it should go full screen without stretching the aspect ratio) Dan
  21. Went to the beach the other day... [youtubevideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlq5ukJq24A[/youtubevideo] Better to watch in YouTube at 720p and go put kettle on while it downloads. It's sooo slow! I learned that the 4:3 setting on the GoPro doesn't really suit paramotoring. My little girl excitedly said "look daddy, you can see the shape of the world" Really enjoyed the flight though. Hope you enjoy. Dan
  22. I printed out this thread and took it to Pierre Aubert at PAP earlier today. I was interested to see his reaction, and I have to say that the man impressed me. Maybe I'm biased because I know him, he's a good man and I like the fact that he is trying to push our sport forward. He was very humble about the ongoing developement of his new range and fully acknowledged that there have been some problems which the team have worked tirelessly to solve. I think you will all agree that PAP has earned itself an excellent reputation over the past couple of decades and ranks as one of the worlds top paramotor manufacturers. This could not be possible without some real innovative passion behind the company and Pierre is at the heart of it. However, class leading paramotors don't just appear, they evolve over a period of time, ironing out problems as they arise. Most importantly, problems that are identified must be acted upon and rectified swiftly, the agents also need to react just as quickly. Based on my experience with my PA125, I cannot fault the service that I have recieved. The modifications that have been necessary have been carried out expeditiously and with great attention. Gary I think you have been particularly unlucky and it's a good job that you have a lot of experience that allowed you to pilot your way out of the mire. However, as you said right at the start of your post, maybe you should have waited until all of the teething problems have been ironed out. Also, I agree with your title, I really do think that we are unpaid test pilots.....I think it's part of the thrill of our sport. Much rather this than flying a boring, safe Cessna that you are not allowed to tinker with. Dan
