  1. Thanks I have just looked at them. The first one goes to 14.4v and I am using 14.8v I guess its not ok. The 2nd and 3rd are for larger batteries I am 4s only. or do they cover smaller batts also. the 4th doesnt say much. but has only 2 wires Am I right in that they are all only visible / audible volt meters, and not individual cell balancers? Do I need discharge cell balancer? I already have one of these meters below which gives me individual cell voltage. and then a total. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190332489631&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT When do li-po's burn? when over charged or shorted out.. any other time?
  2. Do I need a discharge monitor circuit for when I am using the battery or will my balance charger cover my needs (Turnigy Accucel 6S lipo charger) I am using RcBatteries 25c Li-Po pack 4S1P Spec: Capacity: 2200 mAh, Voltage: 4S1P 14.8V, Discharge Rate: 25C (55A) Continuous, 60C (110A) Burst, Weight: 220g (actually weighed slightly less), Dimensions: 30x35x105mm I will get a charge bag after watching that video. Battery in charge bag, inside titanium box. Only gets used for a couple of seconds each time when starting the motor, so I dont feel I need to worry in flight.
  3. I have seen suitable Li-Po chargers that are small enough to fit inside the battery box and could run off the alternator. It was something I was looking into. But for the reasons of cherging stability, I decided to go with the larger temp sensitive cell monitoring charger and then it is only charged when not in flight via the car or mains. Once I fitted the Li-Po and worked out that 1 charge will last for many starts I just dispelled with the need for inflight charging as an unnecessary risk right now. It is so light that I fitted it using large velcro pads which also absorb some vibration. Whats the view on the safe charge bags?
  4. I have only had a week of testing so far but it looks promising, I know other manufacturers also use Li-Po batteries for their electric starts. I swapped out the existing 9ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery which weighed in at 2.6kg (2600g) and fitted a Li-Po which produces 110amps peak and 60 amps continuous at 14.8v which weighed in at 198g (0.2kg) saving me another 2.4kg weight. And boy does this battery crank over, its blistering perfomance. I have calculated that I should get some where around 100 starts before it runs out. I have a computer controlled charger and charge it in situe within a vented titanium box. Battery temp has remained low though out. (I have seen li-po charge bags??? not sure about them) Its all looking good. My only concern now will be burning out the starter motor. What have been peoples experiences with running 14.8v li-po through their starters. Once I am happy with testing I will be offering an upgrade to any current Custom Air Cruiser owners, with a list of pros and cons to both systems. Any questions or sugestions???
  5. Hi Dan, Shouldn't be a problem. What size is your AirFlex? PM / email me.
  6. Yep split lines on my website click the WTS link top right. http://www.custom-air.co.uk/Custom_Air_Sports/WTS.html its the simplest alternative option, right now.
  7. I spoke with Pascal last week end, he just said it would be fine if there are some who want it. They are not about to change there current design right now, in fact GIN fit the same system to the Airflex. 1000's of wings out there and I know only 4 people who really want an upgrade which I now offer. Its up to you guys to change to the split stabilo line design if you want to. He did hint at some new steering designs in the future which will only be available as an upgrade option. Its a little way off and I have no more info on it, but there are many new things to come from Paramania. Anyone seen a Reflex Mk3 (24-75kmh for comp pilots only. Aspect Ratio 6.7)
  8. Does the AirFlex have the Supported leading edge like the Fusion, The photo's and info I have seen suggest that it doesn't and is one feature I like about the Fusion and also on some APCO wings. I am a GIN dealer and the AirFlex come up at pretty much the same price as a Fusion. No I have not demo'd one yet to compare, but it looks a nice wing, keep us all posted.
  9. I got to chase my shadow the other day, though I would share. I look at the video and think of all the things I should be doing, more throttle here less there trim this and that, its good to look back and spot your own mistakes. Still loving the Fusion
  10. I have just looked on http://www.paramotorsuk.co.uk/wings.asp at the second hand lists and there are 4 Nucleons for sale, one just says "OFFERS" ? it doesn't sound good. no fusions for sale. lol. I was on there to get a price idea for my reaction which I have just put on ebay for 1k.
  11. onrisk sounds good with equipment cover. Can't find much if any info on the BHPA insurance 3rd party only. Prices and options would be interesting and I could then consider joining. My sportscover direct did cover personal injury even when motoring but 3rd party is more important.
  12. I have used Sportscover Direct since my kitesurfing was always covered, up'ing my cover to group 4 covers paramotoring amongst many other sports. Reading small print it says Personal Liability claims are excluded for motorised activities. And a quick phone call confirms that I am basically not covered even though my insurance certificate states I am covered for paramotoring. I would guess my option now is to go for onrisk or bhpa. Any recommendations out of the 2? Take note sportscover direct is still good for paragliding and automatically covers you for hundreds of other sports and cost me £46 pa. Forget it for paramotoring.
  13. Savage, as I understand your setup (forgive me if im wrong), my worry was in any kind of tip collapse or on launching the stabilo line could slip through with the weight of the pulley and get caught up, not normally but it could happen at somepoint. The securing magnet / velcro on the tip line would prevent this.
  14. I agree great to get out and fly other areas. I may miss the up comming lemmings bash, I will fly over but it'll be thomas cook. Landing midnight saturday so will be a push to leave wife and kids to fly on sunday
  15. Any chance you can copy me on your report
  16. SW have you tried or tested the improved kit yet. http://www.custom-air.co.uk/Custom_Air_Sports/WTS.html
  17. the Lemmings are in braintree, there are quite a few flyers in essex, hidden in the corners.
  18. Hi Boycey, are you flying yet? hope sw has got you up to speed, maybe we could meet up for a fly.
  19. Hi Lee, How did you get on, are you paramotoring yet? Bury is just up the road, some guys had flown out of rougham airfield before. and there is a bit of paragliding to be had near bury
  20. You need to try a Revo, I think it would be the way to go. Not knowing or seeing your experience level it would be difficult to recommend a specific wing, but you can't go wrong with the Revo imo. Loads of them about flying and enjoyed by there pilots. Passive safety is very high. The risers are more complicated than the Gofly with extra trims which is something else to remember in pre flight and fiddle with on launch. The launch is where is will be different being reflex, hold the A's longer job done. SW is the man to call, he has the training experience with new pilots.
  21. Wasn't Pascal 2nd in the UK Nats on a borrowed machine.
  22. The 29 m2 version of Dudek's Nucleon passed EN C certification, Some of the suspension line lengths were shortened by 1cm for the certification namely lines AI, AII, AIII, BIII, and STI. Dudek say that this change only minimally affects the behaviour of the wing in flight, but owners of previously manufactured Nucleons can either wait until the next inspection, or send their paragliders to the factory now for line replacement (for 160 zl + shipments costs). They will then have a certification sticker applied. Owners choosing to shorten these lines themselves should note that their wings will still not be certified. ????
  23. Sorry I can't, the Nucleon I was going to fly was sent back. I don't think I am bias, I love my Fusion but a good wing is a good wing. I loved my Re-Action also. The Synthesis is a super stable and fast wing. I want to try the APCO Vista. Might be a guest with a Nucleon at one of the up coming PPG events.
