  1. I have been on ebay for a while and this advert struck me as a bit suspect. Does anyone know if this has been reported stolen or is it just a duff advert. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Paraglider_W0QQitemZ190366245056QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CPV_Aviation_SM?hash=item2c52b660c0
  2. There are times I think I would like to travel by paramotor and it be quicker than taking the car and more plesant to boot.
  3. what next... how about a reflex speed wing capable of 80kmh. Its nearly there already with a Fusion 21m reflex. Its not much bigger than a Gin Bobcat at 15 and 16.5m and they have been flown with paramotors. Add some decent trimmers to a bobcat or wheels to a paramotor, it will be highly loaded so less likely to collapse and also very fast requiring lots of thrust. but the a to b potential will be awesome.
  4. Lipo charge step by step. Batt. Type = Choose 'LiPo' press start. right arrow till '2.0A' press start. left arrow till '14.8v 4s' hold start and it will begin. '4s' press start to confirm and it will begin charging. If you are not sitting watching it and checking heat then connect the temp sensor. It will shut off if the temp rises. I have charged a few of these on this setting and temp never rise more than a couple of degrees. Not even warm to touch. Charging at 2.0Amps is just below 1c and the safest setting. In emergency situations they can be charged at 2c in half the time but must monitor batterys 2c is 4.0amps and charges twice as fast but will in time shorten cells life.
  5. Call me when you got a min 07932 373 570. Make sure you disconnect the charger unit within the paramotor. Keep the charger to 2 amps or less. 1 amp gives a more even charge but 2 amps is also ok. The charger auto detects all the settings and all you have to do it tell it charging amp then hold the button to start charging.
  6. One of my Li-po kit off ebay? Give me a shout if you want some help (whether its mine of not), I am fitting a kit on monday to one of my titanium motors.
  7. personal preferences. If I have electric start then i don't need a clutch. If I have a pull start then a clutch is better. Depends on your type of flying.
  8. I have a field near me Sible Hedingham, Essex and another usable site in Sudbury, Suffolk. Also a grass takeoff patch next to Mersea Beach, all are wind direction dependent to be ideal but all doable in most directions. Like most flying sites, all spots are private and closely guarded secrets with permission required to fly.... But if you want to come meet and fly, PM me. Some sites are easier than others.
  9. Electric stop start and I have never needed a clutch or want one with the delayed throttle responce. Pull starts need and should have a clutch for safety reasons but I still see it as more of a draw back in performance and mechanical problem. Shoes springs bearings. Electric NO Pull Yes Seems correct to me and works well in practice. But customer always being right it should be no problem to fit a clutch to a belt drive, has been done on old solo units before as there was a kit.
  10. UK Website has been updated and looking for UK dealers. http://www.kobra-ppg.co.uk Latest Kobra Rocco 230 ST (super thrust) evo is kitted up to take tandem or trike and produces..... are you ready.. 110kg thrust There is also the full carbon chassis sky100 motor called.... the 'Karbon' For information the mid/low weight shift arms on the Kobras are one of the safest systems available with a very strong CNC machined stem and a locking nut (not a bolt) a great improvement over current designs. Curved over sized CNC weight shift arms and custom harness designs with lots of attention to detail.
  11. Welcome to the Essex Suffolk branch of the PMC. Chat here and find some local flyers. We fly in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire aswell, so drop us a line. We have instruction available in Essex. Hoping in the future to build a map of flying fields and phone numbers.
  12. Stall... Even under power, gravity plays a large part in forward momentum. Thrust out too far and you will unload your wing (not be putting enough weight on your risers), slow down and stall. Now what if trims out on a fast wing like the fusion. How much thrust to pilot weight can it handle before the point of stalling?? As you say, maybe ditch the wing and just hover like inpector gadget. When I start my two stroke motor I check that I can get full revs before I launch so I know I can climb out. How would I check full revs on a motor pushing out 110kg? with my face in the dirt I guess
  13. Yes I beleive it is called the Clarkson syndrome "powerrrr"
  14. Yep I know that, lol. That why it ended with!!! And not? Ha ha.
  15. http://www.kobra-ppg.co.uk 85kg weight, I am 85 and fly my custom air titanium which has 65kg thrust. The Kobra Rocco Super puts out 85kg and the new Kobra Traktor (simo evo 33hp) puts out even more at 110kg. The weight shift arms on the Kobra are the best design I have seen. CNC machined, bearings and locking nut (not a bolt) very strong and safe. Tempted to order in an Traktor but what would I do with 110kg of thrust!!!!!
  16. yes it is surprising how many projects get shelved.
  17. I don't understand why it is so difficult, chip controlled injector directly into the cylinder head. Drill big hole, tap thread, bolt in suitable injector. I do know the direct diesel injectors are expensive. How long before we can see a 4 stroke TURBO... or even an electric supercharger, I know they are about for cars. I looked a building a diesel trike a while back. Needed a variable pitch prop due to limited rev range and got to complicated to take it off the drawing board.
  18. Thanks Dave, I will check those points out.
  19. http://www.Kobra-ppg.co.uk That's an idea I will call clive tomorrow. I spoke with Kobra when they were first starting out , they have plenty of great innovations and can help with some of mine to.
  20. Kobra PPG are available in the UK http://www.kobra-ppg.co.uk what do you think of them?
  21. http://www.envirofit.org/?q=our-products/2-stroke-retrofit Retro Fit Direct Injection for two stroke engines. Snow mobiles have direct injection on some of there 2 strokers.
  22. As far as I understand it All up weight usually is including the wing itself. Try before you buy, I have sold a few 29's and everyone has been pleased with the efficiency/economy under power (most were 85-95kg pilots), I would assume this will translate nicely into free flight also. They could also be flying the 26 under power.
  23. I have a growing list of manufacturers on the paramotornews website. There is a link on the right hand side "Manufacturers Index" But not a chart of all the data.
  24. Much appreciated. Thanks. Have been learning as I go. I left electric models just as Ni-Mh was coming in.
