jeff10
Hi all. i'm looking for some advice about charging the battery on my paramotor. It's a bit low and does need a charge. At the moment I don't own a car charger at all so with a view to buying one that might do the car too, what do I need? How much charge can I put thru a small battery? Most of the car models start at 4amp. Is this too much power? I wouldn't want to blow the thing up. I would make one-hell-of-a-mess of my new kitchen Thanks Jeff
alan_k
Hi Jeff, This article is a little technical but is very informative: http://www.aerocorsair.com/id95.htm Cheers, Alan
Farmer_Dave
Hi Jeff I bought a low amp "battery keeper" at my local car battery centre, for lead acid batteries. About 20 quid and doesn't fry them. Use it on the big tractor batts aswell. Another trick I've used on the bike battery which powers a gas gun (for bird scaring) is a solar panel trickle charger. About a tenner on ebay. Phil_P
I picked up a Generic version of the Optimate from Aldi a few months back (£13). Great bit of kit, revitalised my knackered Vitara battery, and gets used for every other 12v battery in the household.
dantheman
Both Daves are bang on the money. There is a cheaper alternative to the Optimate - google Oxford Oximiser as it does the same job for 1/2 the price, I have one connected to my bike and it keeps the battery tip top. jeff10
Ah! those in know. I went for the Oxford Oximiser. I don't have a pull start on my motor either so a good battery is essential. cheers boys Jeff
