  1. Castrol Power1 TTS everytime, you won't regret it! Richard
  2. Needs to be certified ENC to compete with the Ozone Viper (similar manufacturer quoted performance figures). Do you know if Apco will certify it? Richard
  3. Like the Vista HP, but more aspect ratio and no certification, but with +4kph? Hope they do certify it. If it did pass ENC (w/o trimmers) it'll be a winner, but doubt that'll be achieved, else the Vista HP will have to be dumped.... Looking forward to the first genuine flight reviews. 67kph in a PG harness should return 60kph in level flight on a PPG, given a powerful enough engine. Fingers crossed. Richard
  4. http://www.paynesmarine.com/documents/A ... sories.pdf Wichard was the make I last used and are 2 tonne rated (1 tonne each). Hope this helps. Richard
  5. Be very very careful here, would recommend going back to your Paramotor supplier and ensure they're the correct 2 kilotonne rating items. Cheap alternatives may prove very dangerous. Good chandlers supply the proper 2kt versions. Richard
  6. http://www.yvin.mijnwebserver.nl/paramo ... .php?f=169 old and new. Richard
  7. Flew Thursday and Friday late afternoon, but quite fiesty early on on both days. Looking a bit too blowy for me this afternoon, but will see later about 6pm. Richard
  8. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/here ... 636492.stm Tandem? Richard
  9. Badminton netting from Decathlon. Richard.
  10. Still only doing downhill launches Jock, Can't manage the flat take off at Powick yet. Hip and knee improving but don't want to risk anything too severe. Hope fully off at Clent mid PM. Richard.
  11. Don't trust Metcheck anymore, since the problems the old website owner had. Metoffice website showing the gusts, although RASP guides not showing it to be too thermic.
  12. Looking a bit blowy for me Dan. 12-15 mph with gusts above 25. Do you think the thermals will be good enough to get to Iceland though?..... Richard
  13. James, lots of reading and lots of training is what your looking for. We've all been through it and advise not to skip any of it, especially air law and a good teacher. Plenty on the Net and plenty of instructors on this forum. best of luck, it's a great sport. Richard
  14. Wallsjay (is that your real name?) My site is a closed subscription site for 2010, but there's 100's of fields to fly from. Just ask a farmer. We also have an open site at Powick, just south of Worcester. Richard
  15. Yes, twas me having a 1hr46m bloat about. Some nice thermals still around at 6pm. NE wind picked up at 1500ft later on. John, Pat and Adam also on Hagley Hill for a few TTB's. Richard
  16. Thanks for the offer Dan. I'll have trouble walking up the hill. Stairs are a problem at the moment, but there has been a slight improvement over the last 4 weeks. TBA. Cheers, Richard
  17. Hi Jock, I'm still invalid, waiting on results of knee and hip investigations. No good on flat fields, I need a hill to get me off the ground now ... might have to go wheeled .... Richard
  18. eBay Buyer Protection is now available (insurance I think) provided you follow the rules. http://pages.ebay.co.uk/ebaybuyerprotection/ Richard
  19. Dave, How much do you think having the prop sticking out of the back of the FT cage contributed to the line being caught? Richard
  20. Was this another name for the old Thrust HP (2007). It looks like it from the video. The new Vista HP has only just arrived. Perhaps it's a new Thrust HP (2010)? Richard
  21. Hello Dan, We've had a good couple of months recently, but March has been a bit dismal so far. We use the take off field at Powick (any direction) and drift off XC where ever we fancy, Jock, Mike and myself are fairly regular (at least once a month), but we all have our own local fields as a preference. If you get cold free flying after an hour, you'll be cold on the motor after 10 minutes... Have you tried an Ozee millenium suit? I can motor around in mine for an hour without issues. cheers, Richard
  22. Most 9-5 normal working freeflyers will get 25 hours a years on average. Retired freeflyers living in the middle of Wales will get upwards of 150 hours. Comp pilots 'on the circuit' will get over 250. I think if flying in a group of mates, you will get less flying, than if you fly on your own. This will be mainly due to the necessary and enevitable 'motor' speak. 14.3 hours for me and that's all paramotor so far in 2010. 100.1 hours last year, but that was a mixture of freeflying and paramotor. Richard
  23. Best to get in contact with the Club PG coach who looks after the hill you're intending to fly. He can advise what would be the best course of action. Some hill sites need proof of qualifications and/or proof of post qualification hours (Malvern Kettle Sings) and/or proof of insurance. A PG club coach would be the safest way to proceed, advising on conditions and local issues/areas of caution. Saturday would not have been a good day for hill newbies due to the strong thermals and 'sucky uppy' clouds. Richard
