Advice and comments please.
I am getting ready to buy my first wing, having got into my training with Simon W.
I have done all my ground handling and my 1st flight on a Synth 29. I'm 105kg so that is probably too small for nil wind conditions so I will be looking for a 34, to cope with an all up weight of around 145kg.
So before I take the plunge, are there other Reflex alternatives I should be considering? What about the Revo2 in a 29? It seems to the inexperienced eye to be aiming at the same sort of pilot level as the Synth.
So what do you pundits say? And do you think I am considering the correct size versus my weight in either wing.
Oh I suppose I should say I will most likely be looking to pair it with a v2 Parajet Macro, when I find a good one.
Patrick
can only speak of the revo2 as have only owned that one, found it really easy to launch as most paramania wings are, pretty forgiving of bad piloting, nice and stable, rock solid in the rough stuff.
from what I have been told the synth would make an equaly good beginners wing.

bloody hell mate, you don't hang about, with the weather as it is over here most of us have not got as many flights in all year, well done that man
-
Outkast that looks allot like your gear hanging up there?
Is that your pants and a sock hanging up there too?
LOL, no mate I fly a blue Nuc

he was very lucky, had his fuel ignited all we could have done is stand and watch him burn.

I'd say the the guy in the second clip was 'blinded' by his camera... Too much focused on the chase cam to actually think about flying, and not being aware of the risks.
The guy at ukppg event, had only just turned up.
-
ukppg fly in at the weekend, he jumped down from there and was taken to hospital, burn on hands and leg but otherwise fine, motor was ok but the wing got trashed, he saw the lines at the last minute and tried to hit the throttle, as he hit the lines and his wing wrapped around them he was still holding full throttle witch blended the wing, it was a GTR.

Well it's happened: first flight today. Started with SimonW last Sunday, had a couple of days off learning last week and yesterday, getting to grips with the ground handling.
I arrived this morning with the expectation of a day getting my forward launch handling sorted. As it happened that came together really well, 10 straight practice runs, and only one fluffed one, and in the great conditions, Simon said "you're good to go."
I know I have been lucky to have picked a good week for weather, but my progress has been down to excellent instruction from Simon, and particularly from my nominated mentor Colin. Big it up for the little C!
A great blend of guiding you when you get if wrong, with analysis of the problems, but equally important letting you get on with it when youre getting it right.
I obviously have no experience of other instructors, but its difficult to see how what I received could be much bettered. If you live within striking distance of Swindon, you should use them.
I know this is just the start, can't wait to start the flying exercises.
Thanks, guys
Patrick
Well done that Man

Chaps where do you fly from, I want to fly that stretch and get some aerial pics of the old military sites along that stretch of coast.

all commercial radar filters out anything travelling below 50 knots to keep the screen uncluttered.
we don't show up on airport radar.

At last... I thought it would never come! Best flight I've had well over a year couldn't stop smiling last night

Heard good things about them, but only from the dealers that sell them, however they dont seem very popular, wich may answer your question better.

Hi Fire fly
I came from Paragliding 80hours+ before i started PPG I used to hang glide 50-60hours before PG . So i didn't think I needed too or want to fly a lower rated wing. Everyone knows the Nucleon is a very good and very stable wing. I am not saying you will not be able to fly it But when it goes wrong (collapse) it will be more dramatic and you will have to put in the correct pilot inputs to recover on a higher Rated wing. Also the wing might be too Active for your needs and skill level.
The best person to ask about the nucleon would be Clive bunce. (UK Importer) For any other wing I would Speak to your instructor as he will be able to gauge your Skill set and ability.
There have been many threads on Beginner wings on here..
We only sell Ozone and Paramania
Personally i think Ozone offer some very good beginner wings BUT IMO there a little Slow..
The Revo2 seems to always come out on top ..
Always seek good advice from your instructor and GOOD pilots who you know and trust...
Good luck with the training
Regards
Mark
I agree with the above, the reason manufacturers class some of their wings as intermediate wings is because they presume the people flying have the xperience to fly on instinct, when your a beginner you will be thinking a lot about what you are doing, begginer wings give you that time to think, the higher rated a wing is the less tolerant it will be to the pilot making mistakes.
Theres a lot to learn in this sport and you never stop learning.
The day you think you know it all is the day you get caught out.
The revo2 is a great beginners wing, proberly the best out there right now, its super solid in full reflex, very stable and is forgiving of big brake inputs.
cut your teeth in a good beginners wing and you will be a better pilot for it.
Have fun, Dave

Hey all,
I just want to say I was the one who was in the newspaper,
And 90percent of the story is false. It was nowhere near as bad as they made it out to be. Perfectly fine not even a scratch.
some of it was down to my training and some of it down to luck. And some of its my equipment, as for all the other things that are being posted on here the pilots I saw at the fly in are very skilled. I believe any risk they took was calculated if they were risks, but these guys know what they are doing. I'd like to say thanks to them because they were really supportive and seeing them when I had my incident was the best part of the day. Pilots are great! To 'mrfreeflyer' from Wales I am really sorry if this has cause you any stress. Because where you fly is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. And next time I come if I can ill try to be a little bit more careful. I believe that if this didn't get into the paper this would have been a great fly-in and everyone would have been happy. I am trying my hardest as we speak to prevent this and I learned so much from it more than any one can teach. I now have the upmost respect for this sport and don't want to put it at any risk
sorry again!
Please don't be going on about these things it making me ill
P.s I did not turtle neither did I come down like dart I landed on my feet and slipped on a rock. Just bending a tiny little bar on my cage replacement 5pound bulldog paramotors are awesome!
I was not at a stupid height over houses, but I would like to keep the dare devil name. Please can this be the end of it all as it is a sport to enjoy thank you

I am with Morgy on this one, I have a front mounted reserve and have never struggled to get in the harness.

Hi Dave
Don't get me wrong it's a very smooth wing.
Barry came from a nucleon and was a nervous pilot. The speedster gets him up now when he would have struggled to launch with his BIG nucleon. It does move more than the Nucleon.
Hi rob
Bilbo did have a V5 he sold it late last year. He bought it from us but could not find any sites where he lived, and i dont think there was any other PPG pilots in his area so he decided to go back to PG.
Are you interested in a V5 ??
At that money its a bargain if i had the money i would go for it myself
Anyone want to by a Nucleon 31 , 3 hours use £1500 LOL
-
Dave when you coming down for a demo???
