  1. While im waiting to speak to my dad tonight and Paul about training, i probs should start looking at equiptment i will need! is it reccomended i use a gps? maybe Garmin? and does anyone use skydemon? :) Thanks

worry about that stuff later mate, just get the basic kit for now. :D

  2. Just noticed one of us has the arms on the wrong side :-)

Did yours have a tendency to go round corners a lot?

when I bought them the latter type arms were only available for the ross motor, wich turns the opposite direction, therefore I fitted them upside down so the offset was correct, flew straight and true :D

  3. Just spoke to one parent, they approved, waiting for the man of the house to get home and I will let you all know! However I do need to contact this other chap to discuss training tomorrow, and hopefully by this weekend we could all organise something if that is okay with both of you? :)

that's fine mate, just give me a shout :D

  4. I have a gcse in engineering, but it was a c, might be a bit dodgy ;) but no worries, I am sure I could do that, and my brother fixes rc planes so he will have the tools! Haha and poor Dave !

I would be happy to test fly it, you can have the prop like I said its no good to me and has just sat here in my office for years.

the engine mounts are easy to change, I did mine, not that there was anything wrong with them, but you know what its like when you got a new toy :D

  5. Outcast (Dave) will know the fuel figures and tank size.

The motor has aprox 80 hours on it as of 4 years ago, We changed the main bearings after a full strip down. started it up and the exhaust fell to bits. it's sat dormant ever since. In the last couple of weeks I've sourced an exhaust, replaced the pull start, removed the tank, carb, and fuel lines cleaned and replaced. Just need to tune it up now.

The cage has 2 areas of weld, apparently due to vibration not crashing and one of the rubber engine mounts will need replacing for piece of mind. The prop has a small dink that's been repaired with epoxy, and at some point the prop bolts have been over tightened and squashed the prop hub 2mm ( not really an issue, just to be honest )

as long as the carb is set right then the fuel consumption is pretty good, they are as reliable as it gets, mine never let me down, infact I think its proberly the most reliable motor I have owned, one piece double hoop cage means they are very strong, I still got a prop wich I had balanced and kept as a spare, sitting here in my office, you can have that if you buy the motor as its no good to me.

anything else you need to now just ask. :D

  6. Genius idea!! where abouts is this wing btw? :) best check :P

wing is in Essex. but if you bought both I could send them up on the same pallet :D

Your idea's get even better! how much are we talking for courier.. roughly :P?

he has sent stuff up north for me in the past and its normally around £50 - £60 quid depending on the weight. :D

  7. It has been known but its not a certainty.

Blag a lift from someone! tell them you are going to collect a flying machine :-)

    SW :D

I like that idea, however it is a 9 hour round trip.. not sure if i could blag that much! if i could fly already, i would catch the train and fly it back! haha

I have a friend who runs a haulage company and could proberly get it delivered on a pallet at a reasonable price. :D

colin is it a one piece frame or sectional?

heres a pic of the eagle genie

  8. I have a Pap1100 with solo 210 engine heading onto eBay next week. Keep your eyes open, I suspect it will go for around £900

Your lucky being light as there are Plenty of motors to suit your weight range out there at the same sort of money.

sounds just like my old motor Colin, remember my little pap, loved that little chap, served me well when I was training, Jamie bought it off me. :D

  9. Micheal a friend of mine has a eagle genie wing for sale, it's an early semi reflex design by mike Campbell jones , fast enough to handle more lively conditions and slow and stable enough for a beginner to gain confidence on

It's in great nick and he only wants £250 for it

It's a proper motor wing and a far better option than the one you have been offered

I like the sound of that! although im worried if i buy a separate wing, whether he would still do the deal on the motor and training! unless i can pick up a motor for £900 and do the proper training with Chilly or UKPPG? any thoughts!? Also, how do i contact this fella?

    Cheers!

PS: still have everything you gave me 3 years ago and the flying suit fits me great! thanks again :)

No worries mate, if you are interested in the wing let me know, its a guy I work with so see him most days, he was flying it up until recently when he bought a reaction.

  11. Took the advantage of the beak in the weather. 4 quick 15 minute flights over the south coast in the afternoon .. Had to put it down a bit sharpish on the third light as it started to snow at 1200ft.... Had to go for the fourth flight however as I forgot to switch the camera on... I was going for the fifth flight but air traffic control said it was tea time, so had to pack up!! What video editing software do people use?

    Thanks nick

didn't notice a big orange jet while you were there did you :?::D:D

  12. Right I have just worked it out on memory map and the incident took place 11.1 miles from the airport the jet was heading towards, ceiling height in that area is 3500 ft, as far as I can see the paramotor pilot has done nothing wrong, I think most people who fly paramotors at some point have come within 11 miles of an airfield/airport, proberly without thinking it could be a problem.

  13. Only count your fuel when buying a reserve.. wing is everything except fuel..

It's alway best to fly in the top or near the top end of a wings weight range..

I have personally flown wings at the lower end of there weight range for a record attempt. But i wouldn't advice it

Why are you thinking about flying at the lower end? are you trying to lower your fuel burn?? flying lower in the weight range will make the wing slower feel heavy and unresponsive...

    :explode:

Morgy I said why not when, why don't you count the fuel?

  14. Dont count your fuel in the weight range as you will end up with an empty tank which weighs nothing.

    What wing is it?

never understood why people say this?

why would you not include the weight of fuel in your all up weight? its weight the wing will be carrying, its not like you are going to be leaving it behind. :D
