Colin where are you working at the moment, Brize?
-

then sky S engine has 29hp and with the standard timber 125 prop on produces more thrust than the moster engine !
in recent independent tests the sky engine produced more thrust than the following engines
polini
manari
moster
pap ros
nivarna evo
I can post the videos and results if needed
coupled with the 2 year warranty it's a winner all round.
I have been selling flymecc's with sky engines fitted for over five years now and have never had any issues with either the motor or any warranty claims
Thanks mate

I know that feeling well, when I bought my first motor I think I went out to the garage and just stared at it on a regular basis, just giving it a once over never does any harm, get a set of spanners and just go around all the nuts and bolts to make sure they are tight, you should do this regularly to a two stroke anyway as they vibrate like hell, as its been sitting it wont do any harm to put a new plug in it, just give things like the harness a good visual inspection, make sure nothing is starting to split or now seams are coming apart, pay particular attention to anything that may come off and go through the prop, check the prop bolts but don't be tempted to over tighten them, you will crush the prop hub.

Thanks Dave,
I would of thought roughly £2500 for wing and motor, however I might he able to source a good motor from my instructor and an ex Brits comp mechanic for just over £1000, so go for £1100 average... There is a revo 2 for sale locally for £1200 which is tempting!
Cheers
you wont go wrong with a revo2, great wing, very easy to live with and a good confidence builder, what size is it?
-
Whats you budget for a wing?
-
Thanks everyone, only just saw this! Whoops! Will look through the threads and get back to you all, but thanks for the advice!
Morgy,
Instructor is running on a one to one basis in a package deal for the equipt, he's not a school but used to own one. Dodgy...
The garden is rather large, open acre roughly so almost a field, no worries if I start to be dragged, but I understand your concerns!
Also, the instructor who is currently teaching me has said I am capable, but only on low wind speeds.
I'll pm you
another thing to consider Micheal is that you back garden is in reality quite an enclosed area for ground handling, you mite find rotor off the house, fence any trees etc will make it difficult even frustrating when try to ground handle.

Theres only one deciding factor when buying a wing as to wether its reflex or not and that's your budget, you can pick up second generation reflex wing s for a reasonable sum nowadays and they are far removed from the early reflex designs, I learnt on a hill wing, but only because back then there were very few choices of reflex wing and they were not easy to master, so would not have been suitable for a newbie.
wings like the synth, revo2 ect are a huge leap forward over the old stuff, they are doddle to launch and are very forgiving of clumsy inputs, very stable and with and excellent speed range.
just take a look at say a revo being launched on youtube, then watch how easier a revo2 is to launch, theres no reason for a newbie to thin the more modern reflex wings would not be suitable for them.
if your budget can manage it go for reflex every time.

hundreds of flyers of allsorts turning up, camp all weekend and fly
-
I am 80kg and had a 23 revo 2, it was very easy to launch and rock solid in the air, quite responsive, but the downside was my fuel burn was quite high, especially in fast trim, if I was going for another I would go for the 26 as a better all rounder.
if you are not dead set on a revo2 have you considered the synth2, I have heard some very good things about that wing.

Commercial radar filters out anything traveling under 50 knots to. Save clutting up the screen, it's not that radar can't spot us it's just set up to ignore us

been there, at a PMC fly in in oxford, took off, climbing out over farm buildings, leant forward to pull out the flap bit of the seat board, shoulder hits the kill switch, engine stops
cant land straight ahead as its covered in farm buildings and the main farm house, cant go left, trees, look right only one field I can make full of young cattle but I have no choice, I was no more than 100ft when this episode started so had to make some quick decisions, turn right straight into the field, between two long metal feeding troughs.
skid on the carpet of cow shit and end up on my arse, in the said same cow shit.
nothing broke and the young cows did not seem interested, Mike Sylvester came running over and helped me get my kit back to the take off field.
