Hi Francis If the old one is completely knackered, and it's not too dangerous to take apart (if it is, please don't do it) I wouldn't mind seeing some piccies of the guts of it. Being a sad engineer type I just love being curious about this sort of stuff. On the subject of motorbike forks..... a long time ago when I was 17 (a very long time ago) I was changing the fork oil on my bike. Removed the drain screws at the bottom of the fork on both legs. Oil dribbles out. Too slow for me. So I leant on the handle bars to "help" the oil out. It's amazing how far the oil goes horizontally when you do that. Martin

Dissing BMW. No, fine examples of German engineering. I was meerly point out that the 2CV body is much smaller and lighter than a BMW body as the BMW's tend to be more roomy inside and more structurally sound if you are involved in a crash. Fine luxury vehicles. Where as the 2CV is perfect for your farmer carrying eggs to market. Martin phew, got away with that, don't think anyone noticed, I best be off!!!!!

This issue occurance could possibly be reduced by using an edge strip of something less abrasive than carbon. Possibly thin rubber or even propeller tape or "helicopter" tape (the tape that is used on the leading edges of props or helicopter blades). The weight gain would be negligable. What do you think Francis? I think Francis would agree that, even if your seat board is wooden, the straps should be periodically checked anyway just to be sure. Martin

Watch out for the first step, it's a biggy. On a serious note. Will he hear the sonic boom? or is this journalistic licence in that the wind noise at subsonic speeds will be deafening? Hi Arcus Flyer The RXL is a smaller machine. From the original spec sheets and when new the following data applied: Static thrust: RXL 43 Kg MXL 47 Kg Weight (Zero fuel): RXL 15 Kg MXL 17.5 Kg Prop diameter: RXL 0.9 m MXL 1.05 m I have recently tested some older MXL's and the best thrust figure attained was 42 Kg so please don't expect an old unit to produce "book" figures. That will all depend on usage and how the machine has been looked after. Spares will become increasingly difficult to obtain as the cost of stocking them when weighed against the amount sold becomes difficult to sanction. They would always be available, but manufacturing 1 or 2 off a part is prohibitively expensive. My advise would be to buy a new RAD Arrow or Javelin. But I am biased. Martin
