  1. Unfortunately from personal experience a large percentage of American training places are more interested in the bottom line than getting you trained safely and flying safely. Last I saw he pushed Edel gliders...not sure where they come from since they have not been made for many years. I talked to many trainers back when I was trained and turned away from many after just a five minute conversation. Finally found a good one and been flying ever since. BH
  2. Andy, You said in another thread you got a response from walbro that the WB series had not been tested. I was asking if they had done that series yet. I did look at the list on their site...not in that list I think. Brian
  3. Hi all, Is this available yet for the vittorazi walbro carbs yet? Thanks. Brian
  4. Mark, I park my Moster in the middle of October and do not fly again until at least April. I do not do anything special other than drain carb of gas ( ethanol free gas used only). I drain main tank in spring and refill and it usually fires off after a few pulls. Brian
  5. Andy, This is what I have on mine, really small runs off a 2S lithium batt. I have the 360 version. My ground crew (wife) says she can see it long ways away when I am flying. http://www.feniex.com/cannon Brian
  6. Hi All, Ryan Shaw at Paradrenalin in Arizona sells some really nice single finger (index finger) toggles with swivels and magnets to replace standard toggles. I have used them from first learning. Work well with Parajet trigger type throttle as your index finger sits right in the groove at the top of the throttle out of the way. B
  7. Hi all, For me if it is too windy for a forward launch...then I will find something else to do. B
  8. Tonyparamotor, Trying a wing before you buy is not always an option to everyone. I live literally 1000 miles away from the dealer I buy from and dealers are scarce in Montana and Wyoming. Same goes for rest of kit..do the homework. The local dealers/instructors (within 150 miles) push you to buy their stuff as none will allow training on their kit and would NEVER encourage the purchase of used equipment. Brian
  9. Hi, I would not say I had a lot of experience with the Muse maybe 5 flights. Thing was I learned on Dudek Universal (reflex) and then got the Muse and found that it was not anything like the Universal so decided to go with charger based on reviews and help from instructor friend. B
  10. Hi, Only one marginal landing and only because I was not expecting the speed increase while landing...nothing major happened or broke just did not land on feet mostly. Had the wing for almost a year and no trouble landing after the first one. I guess I expected it to land nice and slow like the the Muse did..my mistake. I would not go back to a Muse as this one launches easier in nil wind and handles much better. No complaints about it at all. I ordered mine in custom colors so I think I will have it for a while. Brian
  11. Solstice, I have a charger and I have to say the landings are pretty fast compared to my previous MacPara Muse 3 wing ( non-reflex). But totally manageable...first time landing the charger was not pretty but i learned quickly to scrub off some speed with a tiny bit of brake coming in and it works fine. B
  12. Hi, I have flown alone since I finished my training 3 yrs ago! I am the only PPG guy around for over a hundred miles in any direction. I don't really have any choice. But I always let people know the general area I will be flying in and what time I expect to be home. I do not do any point to point trips... B
  13. Thanks for the link, I had checked there quite a while ago and seen nothing. The one listed looks like a new item. B
  14. Hi all, Just curious if there is anyone that makes a 3 blade prop for this engine. Not that I want one but I have seen them for most others just not this motor. Thanks in advance. B
  15. Hi all, Here are a couple shots of the windsock stand I made from thick wall PVC. One assembled othe taken down.
  16. Hi all, I made a flag pole stand from heavy wall PVC pipe in the shape of an H. Breaks down into three short sections and just sits on the ground....will not tip over even in 12mph+ winds with 17ft tall telescoping windsock pole. I will forward a photo. Cost about $20 to make with the PVC pipe and connectors. Brian
  17. Blackdiamondaircraft.com in Burlington Wyoming is another but I cannot recommend.... personal experience B
  18. Solstice, You will not be disappointed with the MacPara Charger, launches super easy and is great to fly, I fly a 31m size. If it was me I would take the Nitro hands down. B
  19. Hi all, Due to my infrequent flying and long winter layovers I try to minimize my risk and drama by never straying from my simple rules...which for many would be great flying days. 1. Too windy for forward launch then I am not flying. 2. 2hrs max after sunrise and 2hrs before sunset no exceptions. 3. I never have trimmers out past neutral and hands on brakes at all times..never fussing with cameras and such. Dont have any use for speedbar either. The above rules for myself keep me relatively safe with my low flying frequency and work for me as I am just out for the scenery and never really have a destination and endless miles of open landscape here. Brian
  20. Hi all, I flew for the first time last night since last October! With a brand new wing to boot. Where I live there is no flying from November to March...too dam cold..like minus digits. Typical year for me is like maybe 8-10 flights total since this is not my only hobby. I try to pick the calmest days possible to minimize any drama and I fly like grandma. I launched second try no trouble and had 45 minute flight and landed on both feet with no issues. It all comes back to you quickly so I am not too worried about how much I fly.....its all good. Brian
  21. 145kg all up weight including large reserve. 31m wing at elevation of 4700ft. Brian
  22. Hi, I learned on reflex (Dudek Universal) with trimmers buckled from factory so no messing with them and then went on to fly my own non-reflex. Only flew the non-reflex 4 times then bought a reflex. Either one worked fine for me...still quite a beginner but I did not think there was a huge difference...but then again I fly like grandma in calm conditions only. Brian
  23. Hi, Had a friend that was trained by him..did not have anything really bad to say other than he is quick to push you into a trike if you are not "getting" the footlaunch thing. Also seems to really push the older Edel wings. I would find a place that lets you train on their stuff and buy whatever after the course. Nothings for free! B
  24. Hi, I got it all sorted and ended up buying new gear, I was able to establish a relationship with a different instructor/distributor that sold very nice stuff and was more interested in furthering the sport and helping people learn and succeed than how much money he made. I got good stuff at a fair price, even just bought a new wing ( still in the bag as it is snowing right now with 6 inches on the ground here.) I can point anyone in this distributors direction if wanted through PM.
  25. All, Had the same problem too, guy that was close to me approx 100 miles away was more interested in how much money he could make from me with equipment and training! So I decided to go to Ryan Shaw (Paradrenalin)in Arizona (400+ miles away), great guy no sales pressure used all his stuff ( all good Nirvana and Dudek). Training was very good. Things seem to be very different here in the states compared to UK.....things are ridiculously sewn up if you know what I mean by the USPPA, there is no such a thing as getting a "deal" on either a wing or motor...prices are all the same everywhere. Shopping around is frowned upon big time here, forget used stuff as most instuctors will not help you out and say it is a bad idea period...It's who you "know" here.
