  1. Hi, I have a brand new Apco SLT, high hook in harness which I have never used and now I have a different motor, a Kobra which hooks in low. I was just wondering, as a beginner, would there be any benefit to swapping out to the new harness or is this a no-no... Any information welcome thanks.
  2. Reason I ask is that I had a ROS 125 and it had so much compression that I found it impossible to start with an over the shoulder pull -I rigged a bungee to it but it didnt work , found it too difficult to start -I could start it on the ground but that was it - so I sold the ROS and got the kobra with polini, which starts very easily -one handed -but if ultimately its going to break then - I suppose I dont mind if its a bit harder to pull over -over the shoulder -but I wouldnt want it to be anything like the ROS -have you done any in flight restarts? One more question if you dont mind. How was your pull start routed (the pull start through prop incident). Mine is routed through a pulley, so I reach up and behind. thanks for the info.
  3. Hi -Is it more difficult to pull over now without the flash starter?
  4. Hi, I currently have 2 wings Airwave Logic (large) and a Dudek Synth 2 (29). Both wings were as new when I got them and I have not flown either of them -just ground handling and not much of that thanks to the weather/work combination. I think I want to keep the Logic but maybe sell/trade in the Synth and get a Spyder -for all the advertised reasons. I like to get my wings checked out every year by Aerofix and will be shortly sending the Synth away for inspection. I already did the Logic and it came back with no issues. My ideal scenario would be sell/partEx the synth and pay remainder on finance but not sure if thats possible -or who could facilitate that. Any advice welcome. Thanks.
  5. Solved!!!! I knew it couldnt have been a plane there. An accidentally applied snapchat sky filter. The plane is identical in the filter. It was doing my head in!....
  6. Here is the usual approach I see into Glasgow.. Our plane in the photo would be in the middle of the River Clyde somewhere between Dunoon and Wemyss Bay heading roughly south -with its landing gear down...
  7. Bishops Seat Hill Dunoon Hopefully the link will show the location. Its the river Clyde and we live in a town on the west side of the river. We do see military Hercules fairly regularly going down the middle of the river at low altitude in a southerly direction, however the plane in the photo doesnt look like a Herc. The tail shape isnt right and it just looks to me like a passenger airliner. Also it appears to have landing gear down and its not near the approach to Glasgow Intl or Prestwick. Where I live I have a home/office and looking out the window I can see at night, the planes approaching Glasgow airport 36k in the distance, then the lights go out because the planes turn for final. My thinking is that its a phone glitch.
  8. Hi, I was wondering if, when in the winter months and not being used, should I periodically start and run the motor for a while. Is there benefit in doing this? thanks
  9. Hi Paulg18, I have recently purchased a low hours Kobra with the polini 110 engine that has a flash starter. I wasnt aware, until today, that the flash starters were a weak point. Have you started the motor yet with the alternative starter? If so, how was it? Thanks
  10. HI -I found this online. https://www.manualslib.com/download/936348/Vittorazi-Motors-Moster-185-Classic.html Click the link that says download pdf -seems to have a servicing timeframe...
  11. Good dark October evening to you! I am hoping someone can shed some light on this photo. My wife and I decided to climb a hill , which we do from time to time. This one wasnt very high compared to the others we normally do and the weather was poor.. We got to the top and at the small monument at whats called "the bishops seat" I heard a plane roaring above my head. Couldnt see it because it was grey, low cloud, windy and raining but being a bit geeky I knew by the sound of the engines it was on its climb to cruising altitude, out of Glasgow, 30km away, likely bound for somewhere across the Atlantic. We hung around for maybe 10 mins as my wife took photographs of the hill etc. Then I headed down the hill as it was raining and just wanted to get back to the car. As I am heading down the hill she takes more photographs and later at home, while she is going through the photos she says "Thats weird, one of the photos has gone a bit orange -and there is a plane in it." Now, she sometimes puts filters on and snapchat animations etc so we figured it must have been that -because I have never seen a plane in this area, (except RAF) at that height and direction(they are usually either fighters or prop cargo planes) AND with its landing gear down too..it looks like a passenger plane - we went through her phone and I cant see any filters that would add a plane...but I am convinced I would have noticed the plane from where I am on the hill -I am off to the left of the photo -- -just looks 'plane' wrong to me!! Any ideas? Here's the link to the photo: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rnd31j69j1vdz18/IMG_0719[1].JPG?dl=0
  12. Thanks for the info. I am wondering now if I need another helmet as I have the Icaro Nerv which I think is a free flight helmet and as such does not appear to have any coms connectivity...
  13. Hi, I am looking into the subject of radios in general as I know nothing about them. Whats legal and whats illegal and what do people mainly use? Thanks
  14. Has the starter landed at your end?
  15. Hi MagMen -yep - got the links- thanks -what exactly happened with the starter that broke the prop?
  16. Hi MagMen, its in the post first class -should be with you in a day or 2. Send me a link to a video of your first flight with the new starter, that will put a smile on my face! Thanks Paul.
  17. Hi, Magmen, send me your address -its yours free of charge, I have no need for it and im happy that it goes to someone who needs it and will use it. Its brand spanking new and never been attached to a machine. Hope you have many successful engine starts and flights with it!!
  18. HI, I have just bought a used motor in good shape with 20 hours on it. The reason I got it was that it has flash starter and easier to start than my Ros 125, which I have trouble starting due to a combination of high compression and tendonitis/old gym injuries. So, I am wondering if the motor, cage (alu) and prop together is worth anything. I have no interest in it any longer and it might do someone else . The motor starts and runs ok. I have a spare carb kit and brand new pull starter assembly for it -although there is no harness. Compression test done recently and there's plenty. Since I have had it, it has never been off the ground and it has run a total of 2 hours max. Can anyone hazard a guess as to what this may be worth roughly? Here's a couple of pictures: https://www.dropbox.com/s/b7ayema6uwdt3un/IMG_0646.JPG?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/clpjjt8gbs6fju2/IMG_0647.JPG?dl=0
  19. Hi AndyB, Its not the carabiners themselves that I am looking for info about -its the D Shackles. My understanding is that the risers attach to the Carabiner, which in turn is connected to the triple loop webbing which is itself connected to the swing arm by a shackle. Its the shackle bolt/pin strength I am wondering about and a backup if it fails https://www.dropbox.com/s/uy3q9irxc2x5oy7/IMG_0640.JPG?dl=0 I have carabiners for it -they have the KN number...https://www.dropbox.com/s/wufm08khk6c7g1w/IMG_0641.JPG?dl=0
  20. Hi, I have received a Kobra/polini motor with 20 hours on it (thanks Vince for the pointer) and looking at the swing arms I see triple webbed loops coming from a metal D shackle. This will be where the carabiner is to be connected. In my mind, the entire wing connectivity comes down to these D shackles. My question is, how strong are they and are they the only and main weight bearing components. The webbing splits off and there is another smaller shackle at the end of the swing arm. Maybe they are seriously strong pieces of kit. I'm a beginner so, please forgive me if I am talking rubbish.. Should there be some form of backup should they fail? Any info would be appreciated.
  21. Love it. Keep it coming! Beneficial for beginners like me.. I can watch paramotoring videos all day long!! Especially with our weather as it is today where I am....
  22. Hi When a paramotor has different versions (Volution Micro, Compact, Macro) and max pilot weight stipulated per version, what are the ramifications of exceeding the max pilot weight? Given that the micro has a 180cc motor, thats quite a powerful motor I would have thought but it stipulates 80kg max pilot weight. Any input welcome. Thanks
  23. Hi, I am at the considering stage of a paramotor purchase. I need something that either starts electrically or a very easy manual start and ideally clutched too -although thats not crucial. I'm looking for good second hand. I have seen an Airconception but also a Parajet Volution and never having owned either I wondered if anyone has any experience/opinion. The AC looks quite a bit lighter than the PJ but i'm looking for pro's and cons of each. If anyone has any info, I would be interested to hear. Thanks.
  24. Hi, I have a ROS 125 and I am considering getting something else. The ROS is hard to start due to compression and I am looking around for something that has similar thrust thats either flash starter or e-start. I wondered about the Thor 100 motor? Any advice welcome, Thanks
  25. Hi Neilzy, Just for info, I have the exploded view of the entire engine and there is no O ring or gasket shown in the diagram at that point. On further investigation, it seems the socket part of the ball/socket joint may simply be worn and what should be going past that joint is, in part, coming out of it. Ultimately a new exhaust is required, which I am happy to buy but the response from the guy at ros motor in Italy is painfully slow and sometimes they just dont respond at all. As a stop gap, I'm using a metal weld epoxy for high temp use but havent yet started the engine to see how its holding up -might get a chance tomorrow... I recently needed to replace the compression valve and asked them to send me one - -nothing in response. The cost was something like 9 Euros plus postage. I ended up getting one from a new Cors Air engine but it was £40!! Oh well, at least it was an exact fit....
