  1. The vicar declined but the sheep are well up for it...I will need my wellies back from Clive though
  2. Good idea about sorting Paul out Clive, he has been pretty damn good to us this year...putting up with all that damage to his field from prop strikes and jumpers
  3. Clive, this has already been arranged....you and matt are on pole duties
  4. Hi Alan. Its a tough one to call really. Your better half might even might want to try flying for herself once she reads Judy's amazing book. Then you will have all sorts of problems of her wanting a machine, a new wing and all the bells n whistles. Its an amazing account of how Judy progressed through the sport, maybe we will reading one about your wife next year Matt, can I get my copy back? Simon
  5. Hi I've always stuck to the manual with 40-1 on mine, but saying that it has just blown a hole through the piston...
  6. ??? He still has a flat top Nice one Neilzy. Looked like a great flight mate! knew you would do it
  7. looked like you were going to do a touch n go on that big boat in the harbour cool vid!
  8. Hi Aquatix. I done mine nearly ten years ago and was doing asymmetric's , big ears, frontals, b-line, rapid descent techniques, navigation out and returns, top landings, thermaling, ridge soaring, theory of flight and lots more. I don't think it was just Michel Carnet's instructors from sky systems, as his school was then, putting in that little bit extra. Maybe I was just lucky enough to do 95% of my learning in some amazing terrain in the French and Swiss Alps. Places like that give so many more flyable days. So if Shenzi can start to get out ground handling a wing ASAP then it gives much more time for learning to actually fly rather than when he gets to rio every year and starts flapping around and getting launches screwed up. Ive seen it first hand, the same pilots coming out on short breaks quite regularly to the mountains and binning the take off time after time when you knew that just a couple of hours a week back home here in the uk spent ground handling would of helped enormously and made their trip more enjoyable. We all know good ground handling is the key to smooth uneventful take-offs for both disciplines. Its a different ball game launching from altitude as well, which is why I think its important for both disciplines to have lots of ground handling practise. Got away from subject sorry Shenzi, I think doing either the EP/CP BHPA or PPG courses will get you in the air confidently. What ever route you take I wish you good luck and happy landings! Simon
  9. Hi. I say if you have the chance of free flying rio every year then don't hesitate and get out with a wing now and start ground handling that beast and taming her ready for some amazing flying! (with tuition of course) Also as you already said it will give you more understanding of wing control. I have no idea of the syllabus for EP/CP nowadays but when I done mine I had to demonstrate various wing collapses and manoeuvres. I've got no idea of what you have to do either to get your PPG ticket, but i'm sure Simon W or Pete will be able to tell us? Got myself wondering now Simon or Pete or anyone that knows, are collapses covered or required for PPG rating? Is there a 'Whats covered on a ppg course' anywhere here on the site? (Pls point me as too laaazzy to look )
  10. I'm sure its all been tried before but does anyone know of a different top end that might fit the ros motor? Might save me some time trying to mix n match a head from another engine? My thinking is that if i can find maybe a 125cc scooter or motorbike head that will fit, it will bring the cost of parts right down and have them readily available off the shelf.
  11. Nice one Neil! Keep it up...but if you don't...how much for ya radio? kisses (seriously, proud of ya big boy well done) Remember this day...you were handling it no problem mate!
  12. Cheers Dave, they will be added to my list of where I might get a reasonably priced piston from.
  13. ok so just ten minutes into my investigation and I find I was right. I never paid anywhere near £150 for a single piston before. Why the hell is a Ros125 piston 150 quid???? its totally fucking ridiculous and daylight robbery. while im on one about the cost of things can anyone justify to me why paramotors cost so much money for what we actually get? A stripped down engine, a steel cage, harness and a piece of plastic to put petrol in does not in my mind constitute 4 and a half grand. The cost of a totally new on the road Honda cbr 125cc motorcycle=£2500???? Madness!!! But we all pay it because we LOVE IT and cant get enough. back to the piston hunt.....
  14. Hi Pete. Thanks for the info. Uploaded a clearer pic of the top and it has ROS, X7, A and an arrow-> all engraved on the top. Investigation time! Probably waste a week and then call Andy I seem to recall reading somewhere about the letter stamp on the top. I think Pap do a piston with an A or B on them, but cant remember or find it again to see what they are for????
  15. Thanks Eddie. I will bare that in mind when putting it all back together. It will be expensive unless I can find anyone else that does pistons apart from Andy at skydragons as he wants 150 quid for one! I used to blow up 125 motorcycles and don't ever remember the pistons being that much? Are parts on a parajet or other makes that much? I love my pap but if parts are going to be ridiculous money then I might just change it.
  16. Its know a big field Neil but how many camps are we having?
  17. I landed into wind with it coming in shore about 20 degrees off. Would of liked to of been closer to the sea wall but got out of shape faffing with straps I think the oil mixture was ok. I think i'm running the next plug up and its banging a bit too hard. Maybe the spark is a touch too powerful for it? Been using the BR10ES?
  18. Nice one Simon, I hadnt thought about the poor wing until you mentioned it. Ive been mourning the loss of my piston on it now though, Thanks.
  19. Dave, Matt needs your sticky tape and I need your wd40 please.
  20. Its funny what you can find on tinterweb to help...after a sodding problem occurs of course. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pap-ppg/message/17 Anything else I should know about the ros125 anyone? Been loving it up until now.
  21. Looked like chopsticks to me The new no nails sticks anything in ten seconds. Anything!
  22. It was such a good day right up until the last half an hour! I flew back over and could see Matt holding some twigs? Then I twigged! New prop needed for Matt. Spanners in hand...i'm going in to find out whats wrong with her. This hurts, this really hurts. Feel my pain.
  23. My pap had a little moment and I think she seized!? Landed ok but only after a lot of faffing about remembering last minute to loosen leg straps or face plant in 10 seconds. http://youtu.be/ie987p0FtYY
  24. After the good flying most of this week i'm even more excited now
