matt_k
Is there anyone in the essex area who can give my Rad a once over as it starts inconsistantly. The plug seems to spark when it wants to. Regards Matt Edited January 10, 2010 by Guest
outkast
have you checked all the wires are ok? none of them slightly damaged? tried another coil?
nigel_d.
I have this problem from time to time, so much so that it puts me off going to a field in case it wont start. Have tried carb kits but have found changing the plug seems to provide best results. Unreliable starting seems to start happening after about 8 hours of plug time. plug colour shows slight richness. nigel_d.
Just replaced the plug today as it had been playing up recently and now it starts like a charm. The raket manual says that plugs get destroyed by repeatedly trying to start a flooded engine, certainly explains why plugs need changing often but I'd like to know exactly what happens. morgy
Also make sure you have the correct plug gap as to bigger gap will make the plug wear out faster than normal
bendmeroundthehedge
Are you using a resistor type plug? Some motors do not like these and you end up with a dead plug. Try a non-resistor type.
