  1. I do feel sorry for the guy but it is rather typical of a number of people who go out and buy kit and try it without any idea or any form of instruction and not just in paramoring. Don't get me wrong I'm not being holier then thee, I've done some daft things in my time but I don't mess about with propellers It should be a good buy for somebody, I hope they learn by his mistake.   3. Hi Dan What a top result, I wish it was like that in the UK, enjoy your new found permission. Regarding the topper, if you buy one it may need to be towed by a tractor as the proper ones use the power take off from the traitor, but if you make your own the wheels on the axle will turn the blade.   4. Hi Dan In his post Pete_b said buy a topper off Ebay, there is no need to do that all you need is an old rear axle from a car or van. Turn the diff downwards to face the ground and fix a blade about 3 feet long made from a good thick piece of steel, then where the springs would normally fit on to the axle either weld or bolt a couple of lengths of angle iron, bring them together and fit a tow hitch and bingo one cheap as chips topper that you can tow behind a car or 4x4, a guy I used to fly gliders with years ago used one of these for about 15 years and it never let him down, you could leave it in the field and chain it to a tree or something to stop it being pinched. You could go mad and fit some safety guards if you wanted to, LOL Hope that helps you Dave
  5. Hi Nigel This wasn't a finger pointing exercise it was just a heads up in case someone local wasn't aware how close they had gone to Sywell. Paul Dewhurst is a very fair guy and I'm sure if he had spoken to them it would have been in a pleasant tone. I wonder who the pllot was how thought to land and have a go???? Dave
  6. I read this tonight on the BMAA forum:- I say this works only just, because many part taught foot launchers don't bother to fly with charts and don't understand air law properly. For example we had two paramotors drifting in and out of Sywell ATZ on the live side conflicting with downwind traffic for a hour this weekend, obviously oblivious to the ATZ or the rules for entry. If you are membera of the paramotorclub.org and you are reading this please get to know where you are flying, we all share the same airspace and if we upset local airfield operators, it will us who come of worse, the people a Sywell are very friendly but not if you bust thier circuit.   7. I know they say "the other mans grass is always greener" but that looks like a beautiful place to fly, skied in Austria loads of times but never had the chance to fly while out there, one day maybe. Dave
  8. Hi Simon Another brilliant idea mate. Been reading the posts above and nobody has yet mentioned low hours pilots, so my question is this, is the "PPG 100 Club" open to everyone or only to PMC trained pilots with paper proof of training undertaken? and if no paper proof exists do you check flight any pilot before he/she is allowed to join and fly? It sounds really good and i'm sure it will be a success once you have ironed out any small problems, good luck. Dave

  12. Top marks to him for having a go, if the Wright brothers hadn't given it a go we might all still be flying kites for fun rather than flying. I think you might find that he is flying from a military runway, building them in woods is very popular in Sweden. Just thinking now about building a front engined trike for my microlight, it's food for thought Dave
