  5. Thanks Alan. It did seem as though the weather gods were against me on Friday, but ha ho there is always another day, it will give me a good excuse to meet Whitters again down at Lambourn, its just a case of getting days off together. Thanks for the beer last week the supplies were getting a bit low, with all that running up and down the field you sure work up a thirst, and with 12 mouths to feed, you know how quick it goes. Dave
  6. I think your right Alan, Ken needs a bit more practice with the last trick, but he did have 100% of our attention, i'm very glad we had "my number one AFI" with us. Dave

  11. I thought you told me you was off chips Neil, your not going soft on us are you? Dave
  12. What a brilliant read, cant wait for the next bit, with all that spare time in France after sunset you could write the next chapter in bed. LOL David
  13. Well chaps this is it, day one and our brave boys are heading for France as we read this post, making a spearhead into the continent and taking equipment and supplies to establish a base camp and take up occupation, and plant the flag for our PMC leader, if you can hold on chaps we will bring reinforcments and fresh supplies on the 21st, and by the time we arrive all the reconnissance should be done, all the bars, shops and petrol stations should be logged on the map, and contact made with the local resistance. this field in France may well become forever a "Small part of England". Good luck chaps. We hope its beter over there.
  14. Be carefull Eddie, the next thing you know they will force you to drink Wine and eat three meals a day, what will become of us?
  15. Neil Thanks for the warning, just ordered a set of ear defenders to go over the ear plugs, you cant be to safe can you. David
  16. Tim I left the back door open to Eddies other world on Wednesday morning so I got out OK, the first thing I did though was go and buy some "ear plugs" not that he talks to much, but we saw the pictures on his office wall and sweat shirt, there were several images of men in uniform who appeared to pushing a strange round object around a rectangle of grass with grid markings on it, ''FOOTBALL ALERT'', so to save my sanity i will pack ear plugs, mp3 player and a book, I think if an outbreak of ''FOOTBALL'' talk breaks out I should just about survive it. 8 more sleeps to go David
  17. Will it be a learning overload? I hope we don't come out the other end needing "Another holiday" LOL David
  18. Well spotted Eddie I am indeed the third from the left at the back. Pete b ps Your ass is mine in spain I thought we were go to France? David

  20. B****Y Hell if this is what you are like sobber it's going to be a very intersting journey down to Airvault in the car, don't think I will need to pack a book to read, do you tell bed time stories as well? Cant wait for the next chapter, see you in the morning. David ( one of the Fodder Five )
  21. Use less oil Pete David
  22. Enjoy the Champagne Norman, it's a small reward for a lot of work, if you don't drink Champagne i'll PM you my address, LOL. David
  23. Just like Neil I'm ready to go, at the moment it is the only topic of conversation in our house both with the family and anybody else how dares to enter, the week before we go to France, Sandra (Wife) and I are going to cruise from Inverness to Fort William but that never gets a mention now its just France France France, and even though she is not going Sandra seems to be as keen as me. Its getting just like the lead up to Christmas when the children were at home, we are now counting how many sleeps to go before the day. I am very excited about the amount of knowledge that will be gathered together in France, and the opportunity of spending some time talking and listening to people with bucket loads of experience, for an ab-initio pilot it will be massive, and we will have a lot more to bore our families with when we get back a well. Looking forward to good weather, good flying and good company. David
  24. So to sum this up then, you can buy a wing but you can't buy experience, you have to gain that, like all things in life. don't try to run before you can walk, you have the rest of your life , use it don't loose it. David
  25. Hi Dave. Try screwfix and take a look at scaffolding safety harness, they work just fine for ground handling. David
